| Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace; Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise. Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sung by flaming tongues above. Praise the mount! I’m fixed upon it, Mount of Thy redeeming love.
Here I raise my Ebenezer; Here by Thy great help I’ve come; And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home. Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God; He, to rescue me from danger, Interposed His precious blood.
O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be! Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to Thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love; Here’s my heart, O take and seal it, Seal it for Thy courts above.
O that day when freed from sinning, I shall see Thy lovely face; Clothed then in blood washed linen How I’ll sing Thy sovereign grace; Come, my Lord, no longer tarry, Take my ransomed soul away; Send thine angels now to carry Me to realms of endless day.

| ywam san diego!I had a really great conversation today with our ywam leader, felicia. she told me all about the DTS (discipleship training school), and what we will be doing once we get to thailand. I thought I would share. We are going to be flying out to san diego on june 15th. This will begin the DTS phase of our time with YWAM. We will be taking classes in the morning that deal with issues such as: character development, the bible, and mercy and justice issues around the world. for example, children in the sex trade and poverty. when we are not in classes, we will be serving with an organization which works with at-risk kids and the homeless. we will be working with them on the street and serving meals. there is a very poor nursing home right across the street from our apartment. felicia said it was basically a dumping ground for the elderly. we will be working with them sometimes. also, we will be going down to mexico one weekend and building a house. After 3 months in San Diego, we will be heading to Thailand for two months. In Thailand, we will likely be doing work both in the cities and with hill tribes. We will be working with the base there, and plugging in where they need us. also, we will pray about it as a group in san diego - deciding where we will be and what we will be doing. we may be in bangkok a bit to work with prostitutes, but felicia said that she wants to be in the north (yeah!). She said that although thailand has hundreds of people groups, there is one, only one, that is completely unreached. she is sending me some info on it. she wants to possibly do research on it as a group. crazy huh? So we are pretty excited! We love it here in Lawrence, but we couldn't be happier about our upcoming adventure. Please pray for us, as we are fundraising and trying to find someone to sublease our apartment this summer. | | |
| I feel like this answers all my questions. When I am feeling down, it is soooo good to know just how very precious we are. We have so much value, and should treat each other as such. hallelujah.
"there are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal.
Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations--these are mortal, and their
life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke
with, work with, marry, snub, and exploit--immortal horrors or
everlasting splendours. This does not mean that we are to be
perpetually solemn. We must play. But our merriment must be of the kind
(and it is, in fact, the merriest kind) which exists between people who
have, from the outset, taken each other seriously--no flippancy, no
superiority, no presumption.
And our charity must be real and
costly love, with deep feeling for the sins in spite of which we love
the sinners--no mere tolerance, or indulgence which parodies love as
flippancy parodies merriment. "
- From The Weight of Glory, C.S. Lewis
