Sugar Stomach

(this is the perfect moment, isn't it?  Everything's prepared, and wrapped, and the lights are on and the music playing and the anticipation building.  No opportunity for disappointment .... yet)

Ms. Ten:  Okay, Mom.  Can I have a chocolate truffle now?
Me:  Honey, I told you to finish your squash.
Ten:  I had two bites.
Me:  Please finish your squash.
Ten:  I'm full!  Can I have...
Me:  If you were really full of good healthy...blah blah blah....eat some more veget...blah blah ....can't possibly fit ...blah.
Ten:  Mom.  My healthy-stomach's full.  It's my sugar-stomach that's hungry!

Kiddoes just put it like it is don't they?  I'm afraid I never grew out of the sugar stomach.

So, did you let her have one?   I hope you had a nice day.  Ours was fun.  The boys were insane.  Wishing you all the best for 2008.

Let the countdown begin..
LOL I said something very like that to my own parents when I was a kid. Darn that sweet-tooth anyway!

Happy New Year to you and yours.

Back when I was in Ten's shoes, it went something like this:

'Lubber:  I'm hungry.
Txmom:  Have a carrot or an apple.
'Lubber:  I don't want a carrot or an apple.
Txmom:  Then you're not really hungry.

It took a few more years of boldness-building before I continued the conversation as such:

'Lubber:  No, I'm definitely hungry.  I'm just not a rabbit.
