Currently Listening
Offerings II: All I Have to Give
By Third Day
Take My Life
see related

The Sabbath School study for this quarter is on Ecclesiastes.  If you've never read this book, you must read it and if you have you should read it again .  The opening chapter has one of my favorite passages.

"Meaningless! Meaningless!"
       says the Teacher.
       "Utterly meaningless!
       Everything is meaningless."

What does man gain from all his labor
at which he toils under the sun?

 Generations come and generations go,
       but the earth remains forever.

The sun rises and the sun sets,
and hurries back to where it rises.

The wind blows to the south
       and turns to the north;
       round and round it goes,
       ever returning on its course.

All streams flow into the sea,
yet the sea is never full.
To the place the streams come from,
       there they return again.

 All things are wearisome,
       more than one can say.
The eye never has enough of seeing,
nor the ear its fill of hearing.

What has been will be again,
what has been done will be done again.
there is nothing new under the sun.

Ecclesiastes 1:2-9

kinda makes you wonder why we agonize so much for those masters and doctorate degress.  clearly, they are 'utterly meaningless.'  are we overprioritizing our education and careers?  sure, I guess if we put such things before God, of course, but then does anything else have the slightest bit of importance?

Two days of classes left!!!!!  I still have finals too, but yay...can't believe it's almost over...I will no longer be a 'firstie'...*sniff*

it's been a crazy semester...I actually survived my seven classes included two science labs (although my French has just barely been maintained).  I managed to wash dishes all semester for $6.75/hr again, but have successfully found new and less finger pruning work teaching piano next year for a bit more cash (sweet).  Pulling off a double piano/cello performance in one recital was fun (lalo concerto in dm on a nearly busted school cello; I felt quite accomplished by the end of that one).  Puerto Rican spring break will never be forgotten either...ahhh la playa flamenca ... I have also successfully set myself up for an exciting fall semester--same song, second verse...can't wait...after I enjoy the summer tho (hooray for summer). The insanity is overwhelming, but yet so refreshing at the same time.

cheers to all my little graduating friends : )  hehe...college awaits you, mwahaha

okie...just gotta get through the next few days...I can see the light of summer (I know my other collegie friends are already basking and frolicking in vacation days, boo to your school schedule, but hope you're enjoying your free time ^_^).

wow....so am I still writing on this thing???  hehe...yeah...I guess I've been pretty busy.  I'm so exhausted everyday, that's probably not a very good thing.  My weekends now aren't enough for me to recharge completely.  God's grace is really the only thing that keeps me going everyday, lots of prayer, so i guess there's a plus there : )

spring is coming (yay!) of course I've loved the winter, but today, our greenhouse started it's annual Flower Show.  They have an amazing display of flowers and plants for two weeks.  It's so exciting, I think I try and go everyday.

I can't wait till Spring Break (two weeks away...)...I'm sooooooo excited, I'm going to Puerto Rico!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (yippee)  I can't believe I'm going...can't wait can't wait

i am so glad and very
merely my fourth will cure
the laziest self of weary
the hugest sea of shore

so far your nearness reaches
a lucky fifth of you
turns people into eachs
and cowards into grow

our can'ts were born to happen
our mosts have died in more
our twentieth will open
wide a wide open door

we are so both and oneful
night cannot be so sky
sky cannot be so sunful
i am through you so i

Hmm...Happy weekend everyone!!  It was a good one.  We had a GODencounters retreat at Camp Winnekeag...I've never been before, but it was nice.

First week of school...hmm...classes are good, I'm going to be insanely busy, we haven't begun labs yet...I'm actually taking six 4-cred classes, but only getting credit for 4 of them (Chem, Bio, Spanish, and Lit) because I'm auditing (just sitting in for no cred) French and an American musicals () class.  It's very exciting though, I love all my classes.  All the profs are very good.  I'm also doing SCUBA DIVING!!  It is very new, but I'm also every excited.  Hopefully, I can get certification by the end of it all.

Anyway,  so...I quit orchestra...it's a long story, but in the end my final reasoning to quit involves Sabbath conflicts.  I was so stressed out all week because I was so frustrated with the music dept in general...then my cello bit the dust over the break and is no longer playable...and while I now have a replacement, I've decided that orchestra just cannot work out anymore...it was very sad, but I'm actually quite relieved, because a lot of time is now open in my week for all the other crazy things I'm trying to do.

sigh...ok, must get to work...ciao friends! : )
