Contemplating my mortality
I want Love
I need Love
I am Love
God's Soul is more Complex Tonight
I viewed the photos of our movie shoot in the Philippines with a dear friend. She loved this one... She could smell the rain and feel the drops tapping, the puddles squishing between her toes...

This photograph brought a rush of passion, emotion, and inspiration back into to my brittle heart.
In the image, the two figures are my father and brother. We had been filming a documentary about my grandfather, his life and how his spirit continues to affects us in the present. Here, we have taken a break. The three of us wandered the quiet streets of my Dad's home town, Talisay (his childhood home is just down the block.... my 95 yo grandmother still lives there). No work, no worries, nothing but a father and his two sons.
Suddenly a hard rain crashed upon on us. We ducked into a deserted store at the end of town. The owner came around eventually, and we purchased three umbrellas. I don't think they really pondered too much about the colors of the umbrellas, but I think it's too cool they happened to select colors that matched not only their attire (lol), but the wonderful mood of this simple walk of a lifetime. God, thank you for this rain. I love you Dad (David, Lolo and everyone else too).

Passage to Modern Medicine
Yesterday I had my first ever check up. Weird eh?

It went fine, thought my BP was borderline (crap). The internist was cordial, the visit was brief, and efficient. I was disappointed that when he listened to my lungs that he didn't really listen (one should always auscultate for the entire respiratory cycle, he lifted the stethoscope early).
I suppose it was symbolic for many doctor patient encounters. We just don't listen. We process what is necessary to prescribe, to not harm, but we do not listen. We do not impart empathy. We do not heal. [at least in most busy practice environments].
I long to be a healer again (another reason to be in Viroqua)

After the exam, I realized I was right across the street from Millennium Park. A multi-million dollar park project of Mayor Daley's. Guided by a request by the exceptional, insightful blogger, n8ivwarrior..... Here is a little photodoc of my day:
