  • We are now down to three weeks until G-Day. Sometimes I cry when I think about it.

But that is not what this post is about. It is just to share my summer plans:

I'm doing an internship at St. John Lutheran Church, Wheaton, IL!!!! I'm so excited. It is such a good congregation and they are taking such good care of me. I'll be living across the street in one of the parsonages with three other guys, one of whom is a good friend from Concordia. Also another friend from school will be reporting with me to the pastors. Plus there will be more friends on campus which is not too far away and even a couple friends living at their homes not too far away. So I think this summer is really going to be a good one. But that is all I have to say about it for now. I'm just excited.

  • Wow

Wow is really all I can say. I mean, where did the time go? There are only four more weeks until graduation.

    Excuse me! What?

Yeah that's right. And so much has changed. For instance, I'm not going to St. Catharines anymore. I'm going (back) to Fort Wayne. Sure Indiana is incredibly inferior to Ontario but it is where I need to be. So now I have lots to do to get ready for seminary, like have lots of interviews with people who really probably don't care a whole lot. I also have tests to take like a Hebrew qualifier and the GRE. But really good news:

I PASSED MY GREEK EXAM!!!!!!!!!   I'm so happy, shocked, and relieved.

Yes of course I have not forgotten about how many things still need to be done for this academic institution. Ugh. I would like to forget but then I would be forced to remember by having to stay another semester. So it is for the best.

And there may be other things in the works but maybe those will come up in a later post. Lots to pray about.

On the emotional side of things it has been a bit of a rollercoaster this semester. But good overall I think. That is how God works anyway, all things for the good of those who love Him. I have met new people and formed new friendships and strengthened old ones. I know graduation is going to be hard, having to say goodbye to many people. But I also have confidence that those friendships (some in particular) will last through whatever. And that gives me hope for the uncertain future. All thanks and praise be to God who manifests Himself in the lives of those we love.

  • Katie is coming!

So even though this upcoming month is going to be absolutely crazy and I will have no time to, well you know, just breathe or something like that..... it should still be fun because most all the things that are taking over my life are really good things. For example:

Spring Tour with Kapelle and Home Concert! Samuli the Finn comes to Chicago! Careers for Christ! Sufjan Stevens Concert in Grand Rapids with Aaron, James, and Dave! And the exciting madness continues into April with a visit to St. Catharines, Ontario with Aaron, Aaron, and Krista! Possibly a trip to Ft. Wayne with Aaron! The Feast of the Resurrection of Our Lord!

But one more thing, happening back in March: my friend Katie is coming to visit over her spring break, which is the week after ours. She is incredibly Roman Catholic and goes to the Franciscan University of Steubenville, OH, an incredibly Roman Catholic school. She has been invited by Prof. Nunes to speak with some of his classes about her school, and the active spiritual practices and opportunities on her campus, etc. I'm so excited that she gets to come and meet people and see Concordia. Should be really good.

PS: I think I will be able to handle all these things much better now that my phone works again! Also exciting.

  • Nothing better to do...

So I forgot to bring homework to work with me at the CC Library. So I am bored and thought I might at least do something with the next half hour I'll be wasting here.

Things have been pretty good so far lately. I'm still crazy busy with classes but I'm liking all the things that I'm learning (except for Energy and Environment- I hate that class). But I'm getting really excited about my classes with Nunes. He is definitely an interesting man and it is very cool working with him. But probably the best thing has been of course my friends. I can never believe how blessed I am through them. I feel like I say this all the time. But it just keeps being more and more obvious all the time.

Friday, quieter night of movies with Matt, an aborted trip to the bar due to car trouble, and the discovery of good cheap movies at Jewel. Saturday, a night out to the bar to celebrate Aaron's Birthday. Everyone enjoyed themselves thoroughly, especially Aaron. Sunday, Kapelle sang at Grace for the Bach Cantata, Jon came and we had great conversation at Panera, plus lots of planning of visits to classes at our respective schools (he goes to UofC).

It is interesting how things come in waves. I learn about something in a class and then find out a close friend has a similar interest. Or I'm sharing an experience with one friend and then find out that another friend has also experienced that. I don't believe in coincidences.
