Very Quick Update on Your’s Truly

Hello Friends!!

I have been so busy. I just wanted to tell you guys what I have been doing. I did Playboy last week. Then this weekend I did makeup and hair for Miller Chill, a wedding including bridal makeup and hair (including hair extensions), Kristy Joe's makeup for a House of Celebrity Event at Nikki Beach (did her makeup before she headed out to the airport), Playboy's Cyber Girl Demi's makeup and hair for a Black and White party, makeup & hair for an engagment shoot and soooo much more! It's been quite busy for me.

It's so funny but I just found out that Kristy Joe and I are neighbors...only minutes away! I also live close to Amanda Corey! What a small world! Orange County is the place to live folks!! :D

Alright, heading off to do a few things. Fill you guys in on my crazy advenutures shortly!

Update on Your One and Only...Katie B! (Funny story inside)

Hello Friends!

How is everyone?! I am beat. It is 6 am right now and I am still awake from yesterday! Insane I tell you. Well I just wanted to give you guys a quick update on me and tell you everything that has been going on.

I received a phone call from my agent that I have an addition tomorrow for Sprint at 3:15 in downtown LA. The role is for a young professional Asian woman and I guess I was the few people that got a call back. I am not sure if everyone knows, but I used to model and do commercials a lot before…especially during college. I have been with this agency for years!!! Let me see…since 1998. Wow! That is almost ten years. How time flies. I am just really sad about this opportunity because I have a business meeting scheduled for tomorrow at 3pm and I need to be there. So I have been conflicted all day about what I should do. I want to go to LA because it is probably just a few girls who got the call back but I need to be in San Diego to do some business. Geez. I talked it over with a few people and I will be going to SD to take care of my business appointment.

You know what is really weird about call backs?! Everyone looks similar, if not the same, and the company is just looking for THE person who can read the script (cold reading) like they want you to. Last time I had a call back for a Visa commercial. I walked into the room and the other two girls looked exactly like me. The same length hair and almost the same facial features! It was strange!!! That when I realized what my agent had been telling me for a while. Basically when you go to casting calls which is the first step (not call backs), don't take it personally because the company who is hiring you has a particular look they are already looking for. Because of that, when you go to a casting call/audition, many times you don't say much. Usually you go in and say your name, height, and whatever little information they want from you, spin in a circle and then leave! It's pretty boring and sometimes it can be discouraging. The more nerve wrecking part is sitting in the room and waiting to be called in. I think sitting in the room is more nerve wrecking because you start to look around and start to compare yourself. Like you start to think, "Wow she's skinnier than me" or "Gosh, that is a cute outfit…I should have worn something similar." Haha. The mind starts going crazy in that little room filled with beautiful girls.

So time for a funny story. One time I was auditioning for a hip hop music video. I decided that I was going to wear some platform shoes with pointy heels to match my outfit. When I came in into the interview room, I saw some familiar staff faces from other castings. I thought I was in the cool since I have already met them and there was nothing to worry about. So they tell me a little bit about the music video like how it was going to be an army kind of scene and the girls had to be rough and tough. They then asked me if I knew any karate or something similar so they can see my athletic ability. I informed them yes because I had taken some self defense karate classes with my younger brother. So I got into my stance and did some punching (jabs, etc.) and made corresponding karate noises. THEN I decided that I will show them how well I kicked (because I was a cheerleader after all…haha), so I kicked my feet and my pointy platform shoes went flying across the judging table, almost chopping the head of one of the interviewers, and hit the wall. My shoes made this big "BOOM" sound and I nearly died because I was soooo embarrassed. Right when that happened they were like, "Okay you are done." Haha!!! When I walked out of the room, everyone was asking me what happened, etc. I was like nothing and ran out of the building!!! Hilarious. I mean now it is funny but when it happened I was devastated. LOL!!! So note to self: Don't wear platform shoes to castings and if you do, just don't kick!!!! Haha.

I have been on the road for a few days now. I have been to Colorado, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and now to California. I can't believe how much traveling I have been doing. It's insane. I am so tired. I can't keep up with what day it is and what city and state I am in!!! I definitely can't complain but I never knew I would be traveling so much!

I also have been house shopping again. Whenever I go, I try to get in about 20 houses a day to make the trip worth it. Recently, I had the best luck. I ran into 5 houses out of 20 that I absolutely fell in love with. Usually I am lucky to find 1 that I like. So I am very excited about these 5 homes. We will be going over taxes for each house shortly. Some homes are in areas where taxes are lower or where there are not as much special assessment taxes so we are using that as a guide to narrow which of the 5 homes I really want. But I think my realtor said that she just might put in an offer for the 5 homes and see which ones come back with the best counteroffer! I am so excited because these homes I have been looking at are extremely beautiful. One home is like my dream home! I don't want to go into to much of details right now because I do not want to jinx myself. I don't want to get attached to the houses and be super disappointed if I don't get any of them. That's been happening a lot lately. I found homes I absolutely want to move in but then I find out that others have overbidded for the home, are offering to put down insane amounts for down payments, or even cash!

I will update you all again shortly. So much to tell you all and so little time. Have a super day and thanks for all of your continued support. It is much appreciated!!!

Sincerely,

Katie B

Quick Update on Your’s Truly ...

Hello Everyone,

It's been a while since I've posted an update blog on me! Well I've been working a lot and traveling a lot for my jobs. I've been on a hectic schedule and my schedule just gets busier. I used to plan out my trips and think days in advance what iteems I should bring such as clothes or snacks or even fun exciting things to do while I'm on location, but now I'm so busy I can only think one day in advance. Basically that results in whatever I have in my suitcase will have to do!! :D

So I was in Utah and get this?! I was flying out of Utah and I saw this beautiful crystal clear blue water. I asked Shaun, "OMG why is there a huge beautiful lake in the middle of no where?!" Shaun's response was, "We are in SALT LAKE CITY!" Then it hit me! OMG, who knew that lake would be so big and beautiful! Insane!!! So that was my blonde or Jessica Simpson moment!! Hee hee.

I have also been house shopping which has been a little crazy. The reason why I say crazy is because we are suppose to be in a recession, supposedly all these houses are on the market due to foreclosures and short sales, and not a lot of people are able to qualify for a loan due to the new, difficulat federal rules regarding loans which were passed this January 2008. However, it seems as though when I find a house I like, there are about at least one dozen offers competing with us. This leads to people overbidding by tens of thousands and offering insane things like 20% or more downpayment, cash, or anything possible for people to get these homes! This was originally the cause of the whole downfall in the real estate market to begin with. People overbidding for homes and causing the cost of homes to inflate to a ridiculous value. I'll keep you guys updated on my next home! So far it's not looking to good! :D

I'm excited about the next couple months. I will be working alot and two of the models I will be working with are Brooke Banx and Sandee Westgate. I'm excited to work with them again! They are both beautiful models and they are both super sweet girls! I haven't seen them for a while so I'm VERY excited to chit chat with them and get some really hot makeup pictures to share with you all!

Alright, I'm going to hit the sheets...finally! I'll be back tomorrow! Send me some love via myspace comments.

Hope you guys are good and thanks for all of your love and support. It means the world to me.

Love and LipGloss,

Hello Friends,

Check out what I found...a TESTIMONIAL / BLOG on me, my makeup skills, and Katie B Cosmetics! Yay! It means a lot that Janine took the time to sit down and write such a positive blog. A lot of times we are busy with everything in our lives and when we appreciate certain things we don't take time to express our emotions. So I truly truly appreciate Janine making the extra effort to let me know how she felt! Thanks!

Hey guys!!

just last night i received messages about where i get my makeup or who does it... i can tell you it all comes from one person... KATIE B.!!!!

she did my makeup and hair for the photos coming for my website, all my pictures and posters and my hair and makeup for HIN LA... i just wish that i had her for every photoshoot and event!

i have a really hard time with finding the right type of makeup and from the messages, it sounds like a lot of us do lol! BUT katie b.'s pigment and mineral are GORGEOUS for any type of look and... a BIG PLUS!!!??? her products are always photo ready!!! for a model at an event that means a fresh face all day without the muggy look that amateur makeup artists often do (blech i have a bad luck story on that one!)

also, i have absolute trust and i'm so comfortable with katie b. it feels like she's the big sis i never had! i even call her mom katie b. cuz she is ALWAYS lookin out for her girls hahahaha seriously though, in between lip gloss and eyelashes katie b. multitasks as makeup artist, love doctor and dispenses her wisdom and advice from all corners of the entertainment industry. i learn so much from her all the time. she is so beautiful and yet she is so down to earth and so chill, i love hanging out with her!

so if you like my look, please check out Katie B.'s myspace page which is my number one and also katie b. cosmetics.com for products!

Recent Happenings & Something That Changed My State of Mind...

Hello Friends,

It is a true fact that everyone has their own struggle, regardless of who you are and how much money one has. I think with stardom comes a lot of problems. Like people say, "More money, more problems."

I cannot really tell you all what exactly is happening in my life but I, like all of you, have my own problems. This problem recently occurred and it has been sooo stressful for me. Thank goodness I have a legal background and if things keep going in the way they are, I may just have to get a legal counsel to help me with my situation for I am too stressed and it is draining me.

So the other day, everything came crashing down on me. Of course, I asked the higher being, "Why me?" I know that because of my past experiences, I know that tomorrow will be a brighter day. Before, when I was younger and when I had to face a situation that I thought was the end of the world, I often thought the world would be better without me. But now I know that with every struggle is a growth in oneself. Although I do not like the current situation I am in, I will not let it get the best of me because I know the truth will prevail and I believe in karma.

On a similar topic, why does there have to be so many haters? There is enough space in this world for everyone to be successful. I’m just someone who is trying to do and be someone in this world. Makeup and hair is my livelihood and if you are someone so big in this world, why do you have to pick on someone so small? You know what I mean. Gosh, I wish I could dwell on this subject more but I can’t. It’s confidential right now.

Well when I was stressed and having one of those it’s the end of the world days, Oprah came on. It was yesterday’s episode about her latest Book Club book A New Earth. I have not read the book but from what people were saying it sounds like a really good book to read. I really liked the concept of being "present" and not being "unconscious." I’m a walking stress ball regardless of how small an issue is so when I learned how I needed to be present, it made a difference in my state of mind – I was less stressed. If I was not present, in the moment of today and what is going on right now, I would be giving my power/my energy away to something that is useless/of no benefit to me. So if I stressed out about tomorrow and my future and not focus on what I need to do today, then I in essence would be unconscious and not do anything to benefit my tomorrow. I hope I’m making sense. So my goal from now on is to be present. Of course I’ll think about what I need to do in my future to get me where I need to be but I’ll focus on the things I need to do now and not about all the things I need to have done in the future.

A good example was of a captain in the military that was on the Oprah show. He was saying that he learned how to be present and deal with what he had in front of him while he was in Iraq and not worry about death. He said he used to worry about being death statistic number 4003 or 4004 but he said he learned that if he worried about the future he would not gain anything. He said that if he returned back to the states, he was not going to be awarded a metal for worrying about dying so that’s why he stopped worrying about death and stayed present!

So the point of my blog is that everyone has their problems regardless of anyone’s economic or social status. The way to deal with problems is to be present – do what you have to do to get to the next day for the next day is always a little brighter. Don’t worry/stress out about the future – you will be unconscious if you focus only on the future. If you focus on the things you need to get done today, then your future will fall into place!

Hope that helps. Any feedback would be great. I  love hearing for you guys!

To being present today,

Katie B
