a quickie

I haven't been on here because we don't have internet in OUR NEW HOUSE!!!  Yay, John and I are officially homeowners.  I can't believe what God has done this summer, it seems too good to be true.  I will post pictures when I get a chance (yeah, who knows when that will be!).

I hope all of you are doing well, and I am slowly making my rounds to read the blogs that I am extremely behind on.

"stay cool"

Here is a glimpse into why I am so not like Jesus, in yet another realm.  Last night John and I went to a going away party for one of my co-workers.  While there we met up and chatted for a long while with a girl who I work with who is also in campus ministry (with the Navs).  We asked her if she wanted to get frozen yogurt with us (it was right around the corner) and come back to the party (everyone else was drinking, we needed something!).  We went to our favorite, America's Yogurt, and at 5 mins til 11pm they were closed.  They didn't officially close until 11.  So we hopped over to the next spot, Penguins.  They also didn't close until 11 but had their lights on and "open" sign on.  So we thought we'd give it a shot, after all, all they have to do is squirt a little ice cream in a cup and send us out the door.

Well apparently they thought they were doing much more for us, and were obviously fighting the rage inside of them when we came in.  So I asked, "would you totally hate us if we came in?".  Notice the first opportunity I gave for her to kindly say, "Sorry, we're closed".  She didn't answer.  So we walked in.  The guy at the counter turned to us, tension mounting, and asked very sternly, "what do you want?".  Opp #2, Angela says, "Do you want us to just leave?".  He says, "JUST order", I say, "we can just leave", he says, "JUST ORDER".  OMG, what do we do?  I just say (kinda like in a Jim Carrey drawn out voice, "Ooookay".

So I order very simply (was originally going to ask for a sample, but I like my face, and prefer it un-punched).  But when I tell him my topping is peanuts he says, "anything else", and I say, "nope, wouldn't want to make it harder on ya'" (very sarcastically mind you).  Oh boy, I can't just keep my mouth shut like Jesus would.  They give us the rest of our order, and while we are turning around to leave I yell, "Thank You Very Much!!".  I think that was just the icing on the cake.  After we got in the car we could pretty much see the flames on the tops of their heads, and it was not from the Holy Spirit we left behind.

I have to admit that it was fun to not just "take it" from them, I mean, after all they had three opportunities to let us just leave, which I wouldn't have actually minded.  And it's not like they had to fry us up a burger or something, it's soft serve.  But, I will say that I am not completely pleased with my behavior, I am learning.  But I am still irritated today, so I guess I will be learning even more.

a well earned nap!

I am going to take a nap right now and I am really looking forward to it.  There are sometimes when I take a nap that I feel a little guilty that I haven't done enough in the day up to that point to deserve a nap.  But today, I feel totally great about it.  So I thought I would share with you why:

I opened at work which meant I woke up at 4am.  I got off around 10:30 and had a friend and her 1yr old meet me there.  John came with Nevaeh and we all talked for a while, ate a little bit, and drank our wonderful starbucks drinks.  We then came home and I gave John a haircut, which he has been begging for weeks for.  I hurried to get ready for my next appt, which was between me and the treadmill and bicycle at the gym.  So I rushed over to the place I call second home (not really at all!) and had 30mins to push myself to the limit.  After that I had to take John to work.  And after that I made lunch for Nevaeh and I.  I just laid her down for a nap, and here I am off to mine.  It is 3:15pm and I have a couple of good hours to crash!  Yayyyy!

Just thought I'd share that.

just got back from visiting one of my best friends in Phoenix for the weekend.  she is moving to Germany.  she married an army boy only months after meeting him online.  she has tickets to the world cup and doesn't even like soccer.  the boy loves Jesus.  they are actually a good fit.  should be interesting to watch.  good to be home.  open at starbucks tomorrow - 4:45am.  yay.

made our first bid on our first house on thursday.  the counter offer was the same amt it is listed for - crummy.  tomorrow will be a new bid on a different house.  not plan b, just different plan.  God doesn't have a plan b right?  it's just us trying to figure out the plan that He does have for us.  learning more about peace in this process.

ok I am a nerd (officially).  the administrator in me is really manifesting now...
I just said to Nevaeh (in all genuiness), "you could organize your toys, that would be fun!".
My poor daughter.
