Greetings,

I've had a lovely break, watched television, seen family, boyfriend, pals et. al. Went sledding. I'm actually pretty happy to be back here at school again, working, working out, keeping busy. I don't keep up with all the headlines all the time anymore, mainly just read political humor, and get the basic idea of what's going on. I don't have a job where I sit in front of a computer anymore, but I still try to do earth friendly things like packing myown lunch and riding my bike. I'm a little converned what will ahppen when we run out of oil, which won't be for forty years or so, but as it becomes more and more difficult to extract the oil from the well, it will get increasingly scarce and expensive. Which at first you think, fine I won't use my car, right? The problem is, everything that you use has to get delivered to the store in a truck. It's a headache, but I think it's of monumental importance that we all start thinking about this soon. Try doing a google search for "peak oil" or "Matthew Simmons" or both, and see what you get. I know, there's alarmist tactics there, but the numbers are real. Just don't panic, ok?

In a mind-baffling, entirely amazing, mostly sleepless sweep, Mandy has finsished her first semester of graduate school!

I would make little streamers and stuff here if I could.

Here's the pathetic part: all my undergrad friends want to go out and party and stuff, while I'm just happy I can watch TV again. I'm really excited about showering every day, getting dressed every day, seeing my family and my boy.

I feel like a grown-up. Wah!

I really have been meaning to post a blog entry so that next one would no longer sit at the top for quite some time now...I've even gone to post a few times. Once I was going to tell you all these funny Bush jokes I heard on A Prarie Home Companion, but I couldn't remember them. Here's the one I can remember:

Q: How many Bush Administration officials does it take to screw in a lightbulb?

A: None. We didn't need a new lightbulb; there was nothing wrong with that lightbulb, if you're suggesting ther was something wrong with that lightbulb, then you must really hate America!

Oh, here's another one:

Q: What's the difference between the Iraq war and the Vietnam war?

A: George W. Bush had an exit strategy for Vietnam.

Yeah, those are some funny jokes. Sigh...

Anyway, I have an Annotated Bibliography due in like thirteen hours and I have four more sources to annotate, then proofread, properly cite and rationalize my primary sources...my undergrad friends don't know what in the hell any of that is, and usually if they say they do, they are LYING. You're lying too, aren't you?

Sometimes I get paranoid alone at the computer at night...start doing Google searches for "who is watching me?", weirdo stuff like that.

What am I even still doing talking to you people! Don't you know I have work to do?

Wednesday Night

The reruns are over, the paper is written, I'm sipping merlot-sangiovese and changing my xanga profile. Because why the hell not.

Yeah, that's right, I didn't watch the debate tonight. It's really hard for me, to watch Bush be so moronic, and then watch the talking heads declare a "Bush victory" essentially because he wasn't as idiotic as normal. Or watch Bush claim his administration is the best thing that ever happened to the environment, and then watch Kerry not even have the cajones to take it out of him.

Or to ask myself, is he wired?

Conspiracy theory? Maybe. Entertaining? Big time.

I am going around to various places on the internet where I have a personal descriptiona nd a picture, and trying to change the bloody picture, and it simply won't let me! I choose a file, say upload photo, go make a snack, come back, and nothing has happened. First I figured it was the website, but nowi think there may be a curse upon my lane of the information superhighway. Seriously though, wtf?

Hi again,

My boyfriend wanted me to point out that he is not the fellow smooching on me in the pic on the left. He is in fact, a much tastier boy. As soon as I have a picture where I look as good as I do there, without an ex boyfriend in it, it will most assuredly take the place of that one.

Dr. Phil is on Letterman right now...doing the top ten. I've never been a big fan of his show, and he clearly doesn't know much about humorous delivery.

How quickly time passes....

Hello darling, patient friends. I could make excuses, but why bother...let's just live in the now for once.

The problem with keeping a blog, methinks, is things have gotten so fucked, so ridiculously ruined, that I'm overwhelmed to try and write on it. But I also become frustrated when my fellow liberal comrades compare us to the likes of Hitler.

I am of the opinion that the US force in Iraq is making things worse, and our soldiers are in danger there. But I hear so many people calling for us to immediately bail, and that just doesn't work for me. If we can get a UN peacekeeping force in, then great. But we didn't have the UN support going into the damn thing, so why would we now?

I'm afraid all I'm up for today is a semi-coherent ramble. Finals are approaching, and I'm pulling together my final creative radio projects as well. Must reserve brain for school...

I will soon get internet at home again, and perhaps it will prompt me to post more thoughts more often. I'm a touch out of practice with the writing, which isn't really so good. So. Getting back on the horse, although it rode away several months ago.

Am I to understand that blogs aren't hip anymore? I think it's all about online personals and friendster these days. However, being painfully and tragically hip as I am, I will continue to blog in spite of moving and shaking trends. So be it. And be well.
