My cousin got married on Sunday.
It was a full blown Malaysian Chinese wedding thing.
Entire event started at 5.30AM when the make up artist and the hairstylist showed up.
Then guests start arriving about 8 or 9 am, have breakfast while waiting for the groom to appear at the prosperous time~!

The groom had to first, get through the main door where the aunties are blocking. They demand a love song, which he said he didn't know how to sing. After much discussion and pleading and bargaining, he was made to march in military style into the house. Which was no big deal as he is in the army

2nd barrier, the "sisters" of the bride. First, angpow was demanded. Then, they conveniently forget that they got their angpow and then made him try to sing, AGAIN~! Since he refused, he was made to eat 1 whole chilli, shot of vinegar, can of tiger beer and shot of sweet syrup. All those symbolises the up and down of a marriage. After that, of course angpow was demanded again. By this time, the poor groom is so nauseated by the concoction that he just gives them what they want

3rd barrier, the best friend of the bride barring the door to the bride's bedroom. Guess wat? He was demanded to sing AGAIN~! This time he couldn't escape as it's a special request of the bride. SO he finally sings. *aww...how sweet* He opens the door to find that he has been duped...there's no bride behind the closed door~! And there ensues a funny episode of him going, "wifey~! wifey~! where are you?!". Finally finds her and the happy couple goes downstairs to start the wedding ceremony.

First, the couple bows 3 times to heaven and their ancestors to ask them to give blessing to the marriage. Then the relatives are lined up starting from the bride's paternal grandmother to the youngest maternal aunt to be served tea and asked for blessing. LOTS of kneeling and bowing done. Poor cousin had to do this with heels and full wedding dress.

After that is the feed each other with longetivity noodles bit. So cute
After that the couple is left to eat in peace

Then off to the hotel where the groom's parents are. Same blessing ceremoney ensues. And then a younger boy relative of the bride is asked to pee in a chamberpot specially bought for this occasion. And then he is asked to jump on the wedding bed. This is to ensure that the first child of the couple is a boy
(this is the part my partner says "but wat if they want girls 1st?!" and my face goes ~_~U)

After all that, we go home to prepare for the wedding banquet.

The bride and groom looked so happy and perfect together. The dinner was FABULOUS. The couple were made to proclaim their love to each other in front of 300 friends of their parents and their relatives. Bride looked beautiful. The mother of the bride looked like she was transformed into some1 else~! Didn't even recognise my aunt :s Everybody looked pretty and handsome that night

After all that i went home and asked my mom, are u gonna go thru all that trouble when it's my turn? and her reply "huh~! if u marry that angmo boy then where got go thru all this trouble? u'd haf gotten married in nz lo~! good oso, save me all that trouble" ~_~U

Friday

2 dead in a car crash involving a hilux and a kembara (for non m'sians, a cheaply made tin foil 4x4 lookalike).

Ages of deceased: 22 years old and 23 years old

Saturday

2 dead in a car crash when a car took a corner too fast and turned upside down. The car was a kembara as well.

Ages of the deceased: late 50s and late 60s. Both passengers in the car and were just hitching a ride from a younger relatives after going to a wedding party.

Monday

5 involved in a car crash on the treacherous route between Sibu and Miri. They were coming back from a Christian convention in Sibu. 3 dead, 2 survived as of Tuesday. Cars involved were a hilux and a kancil (smaller, tinier version of the kembara but same tin foil resistance). Driver was trying to overtake a line of 3 cars. Hilux = oncoming traffic.

Ages of the deceased: Between 16 and 23 years old.

Conclusion:

Life is damn fragile. It doesn't matter if your loved ones are waiting for you somewhere and you are 15 or 30 minutes late. A simple phone call saying that you are late and you are sorry will suffice and take the time to drive slowly and SAFELY to meet your loved ones. They will surely appreciate you ARRIVING late rather than not getting to the destination at all.

May all of the deceased Rest In Peace. They are safe now in the hands of the Lord.

SO...just a note....i'm HOME yes...in miri!! and god it's hot here so sorry if i blinded you with all my fat bits hanging out ya?

anybody interested in bringing me out of my boredom hellhole can probably find me at my dad's shop from 10am til 9pm...everyday til some1 finds me :sigh: do i sound desperate or wat?

sorry about not posting for so long
it's just that my life's been extremely mundane and unblogworthy! :)

anyhow...the reason of this post!

OMG!! that infuriated me soooooooooooooooooo much that i just HAD to reply! ppl that knows me knows that i usually reserve my comments to myself and not put them out publicly..esp on a public forum on the posting board but this time <gggggggrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!>

NO ONE...and i mean NO ONE can call me unmalaysian...I was born in m'sia, i still have a m'sian passport, i still have a m'sian accent (FOR GOD'S SAKE! it's been 3 years and i still dun really have a kiwi accent...doesn't that mean something..esp when ppl still makes fun of me saying three?!?!?!?!). I mean...sure....those are superficial things....BUT i know that when i graduate i'd wanna go back to m'sia and somehow forge a life for myself there (if i was given the chance). I identify myself as a m'sian and i am proud of it, every single wonderful and seedy part of it!

Sure i have a white bf...so wat? isn't m'sia suppose to be a culturally diverse and have racial harmony? what makes me less of a m'sian having a white bf? in the 2 years that me and cam have been together this is the 1st time i've heard such a racist and unjustified comment! *ROAR*

ARGH!!! even after all that "venting" i still dun feel satisfied....i feel like pummeling someone...which is not very like me.....help? someone?

work work work work work~!!!!!

am working 5 days a week 5 hours a day or sometimes 6/7 hours a day....wake up @ 7 every morning to get to work by 9 or sometimes 8 in the bloody MORNING how i wish i had all the money in the world and not have to stand on my feet for a minimum of 5 hours a day

ALTHOUGH~! on the bright side of work is that....

1) i FINALLY know how to make coffee~! well...i knew how the principle of everything but then never could figure out how to steam(fluff) the milk for the coffees....but NOW i KNOW! hopefully when i get to actually make coffee for the customers i'd be paid $10/hour after taxes (currently on $8.5/hour)

2) STARS come to our cafe!!! ahahhaa...well....kiwi stars anyways....saw HAMISH CARTER yesterday and the lead singer for ZED today....dunno wat the singer's name was...didn't even know who it was til my collegue nudged me and asked me.."do u KNOW who that is?!" and i was like...er..? "that's the lead singer from ZED!!!" ahahaha...o well~!

3) MONEY!!! work more = more money to spend on shopping and oso to pay off my debt of course

x'mas~! :S i have no idea wat to get ALL my frens for x'mas~!! most of them were like...i've bought ur present!! ur gonna like it~!! and i'm like...err....okay (que thinking furiously to myself...omgomgomg! x'mas is a month away! need to buy presents now!)......

me and my boytoy (heh heh love you baby ) are gonna spend x'mas + 10th anniversary in a romantic hotel (fingers crossed we scrap enuff money together)....mmmmmmmmmmm!! can't wait! one day full of pampering and just being together...ALONE! no flatmates....no work! *sigh* absolutely BLISS....prob gonna make him gotta the hotel spa with me tho o well...he's a big boy...he can stand it

9th anniversary today

BUT....guess wat we did? NOTHING....NADA....ZIP~! y? coz my dad refused to let me use the car and refused to let me go outta the house! dun want me using the car is fine...i can bus....BUT...it's sunday.....and public transportation sux on sundays esp around my area to town coz the ONLY bus that comes by my place will go by @ 8.30AM and 10.30AM~!!! and i only found out he's in a bitchy mood at 12PM! GARH~!!!!

was supposed to play laser strike with the UMSA fellows....but.....due to unforeseen circumstances....ie....dad~!....my hopes of going out for some fun is squashed.....

it's sad how it's our anniversary today and we haven't seen each other the whole entire day! yes...this is our first anniversary day apart next month will be good tho special plans ahead...ahahaha....which is quirky coz it's not any special timeline...just our 10th.....but we both figured that we prob wun haf enuff money if we waited til our year anniversary...with both of us being big spenders and all so we're just gonna do it next month....y next month not this month? coz we just finished uni exams and haven't saved up enuff money yet

gah...boring u guys with details prob....not like there's actually ppl reading this anyhoo....o well....ciao bella/bello~!
