Well, what do you know! I finally have some more interesting things to work on. The last couple weeks I've been kept pretty busy doing cable assembly drawings and making revisions to existing drawings. As a result I've had to interface with a lot of other people in different departments so I've been getting to know people a lot better. I've even gotten to go to lunch with the VP That sorta thing tends to happen in a small company like ours. I have to honestly say this is the first time I've had a job where I kinda look forward to going to work in the morning. The people are great and when I have a variety of things to do that require some level of mental exercise its actually pretty fun. Also this week they're putting on a company wide bbq for the 4th of July so Thursday I get free lunch Our annual 4th of July church camp starts on Thursday as well so after I get off work at 5 pm I'll be driving up to camp. In a side note, I know I posted the web address for Altergy over a year ago so for those of you who don't really know what the company does and is interested visit www.Altergy.com.

Also, I would really like your prayers for me. The Lord is taking me through some particularly difficult times right now. Its been hard, but by His grace I'm moving forward.

I hope all is going well with all of you.

You know on a new job how they tell you to go the extra mile on things to make a good impression? Well, sometimes that isn't necessarily the best thing to do. This past week I was just about finished with the extraordinarily tedious task of updating our digital parts library when one of the engineers comes up to me and said "all that work you did on screws...well, you're gonna have to do it all over again." After explaining to me why I went and did some checking and found I was going to need to do the nuts all over again too for the same reason. What I had done was use the vendor provided Solidworks files for screws and nuts rather than the Solidworks toolbox parts because the vendors parts had the nice helical threads modeled as well. The toolbox models didn't have that. So I thought I was gonna go and make things all nice an pretty by using the vendor models, but turns out when you have a couple hundred screws and nuts in an assembly there is so much information for the computer to keep track of that it can take several minutes just to load an assembly. Imagine trying to view a picture you've been photoshopping and it takes 10 minutes to load because of all the detail....well, thats about it. So its back to the beginning for me. Its very tedious work...but, what are interns for? I hope all is going well with you all.

Wow, I can't believe my last update was at the beginning of the semester....it seems like only yesterday. Well I finals are over and for better or worse I passed all my classes. The big news I guess is that I was FINALLY hired for the job I interviewed for back in December. A friend at church has actually been trying to get me in there for over a year and a half. The December interview was actually the second interview I've had. But alas I have my first "engineering" job. My primary responsibility is modeling parts for our digital library. When the engineers design the fuel cell system its easier for them to be able to import parts that are already drawn instead of having to draw the parts themselves. Thats my job...and by "parts" I literally mean nuts and bolts...well, and washers too. As I learn more about the program I'll get into more advanced drawings and they may let me try my hand at some low level design work. So far things have gone well though I've only been there 3 days. I have a lot to learn but the engineers I work with have been real nice and helpful. I just hope and pray I can come up to speed on things quickly. Right now its just a summer job, but most of the people there are hoping we can work something out for next semester too. I'll have to shuffle my class schedule around a bit but hopefully we can work something out. Well, I hope things are going well with all of you. I better hit the sack.

Well, I have successfully completed my first week of school for this semester. Between thermodynamics, mechanics of materials, and analytic dynamics it looks like this is going to be one busy semester. I'm hoping to add a 20-24hr/week job on top of all this. I've been waiting for 4-5 weeks to hear from a company I interviewed with over break. My man inside says that they want to hire me....they just haven't actually done it (they even have the acceptance letter written).

So, in the spirit of applying the mind to mind-like things here is a brief numbers puzzle that you all can work on. If you get it please don't post the answer. If one person gets it right away and posts the answer then no one else will make the endeavor. Just say "I got it" or "I KNOW I KNOW"....or something along those lines. I will post the answer possibly next Friday...or sooner if enough people have attempted it to make it worth posting the answer early. Anyway...here goes:

A number has five different digits, none of which is 0:
    (a) The first plus the second equal the third digit
    (b) The third times 2, plus the second equals the fifth
    (c) The second times 2 equals the first
    (d) The first times 4 equals the fourth
    (e) The fourth minus the second equals the fifth
What is the number?

Enjoy

Wow, so turns out its been a while since I've updated last....I wish I could say it's because I've been so busy, but in reality the exact opposite has happened. I have had another interview at the engineering company I've been trying to get into for the past 2 years and it looks like I finally might get in. I interviewed with them a week and a half ago and my friend on the inside says it sounds like they're gonna hire me....just waiting for the official word. Still praying...

Well, I promised an official post on my friend's wedding that I attended in Mexico, so here it is. It might be a bit lengthy with pictures and all, but hopefully mostly pictures....I'll go easy on the text. I have many more pictures that I could post, but as most of you won't know ANYONE (except maybe me) in the pictures and some of you will only know SOME of the people I will try and keep it to the ones you "know".

Victor's Mom and Dad (Santa and Cleotilde Diaz)

Eduardo and ...um...yeah, I forget her name. Both Eduardo and Victor came to Christ during membership in a local gang. They have both committed their lives to serving Christ and are/were attending the Bible Institute in Hermosillo Mexico (Victor graduated last year).

Ricardo (Eduardo's younger bro) and...um, again..forgot the name.

Your's truly and Victor's sister Mayra.

The man himself...waiting patiently for his bride

K, didn't have a pic of her coming down the isle....this is the closest chronological picture.

I think this comes next....Each couple in the wedding party had some 'symbol' to present to the bride and groom. Mayra and I carried the lasso...which was to keep Victor from running way..... Actually, it represents the uniting together of a husband and wife in the bonds of love and service to Christ. I...really was there...the photographer opted for a picture with Mayra instead of me

Pastor Mark Cowles (my pastor....and coincidentally Victor's pastor too ) is on the right. He preached the message at the wedding while Dr. Keith Jiuta (sp?) did the translating.

Um, self explanatory.

Likewise....

yup

Hmmm, cherry flavored....wanna taste?

All these are the bride's maids. Yes, there really were 7

Its weird being the only white guy...

Safiro's (the bride duh) family. Father, mother, brothers, sisters...etc.

Victor's family. He has another younger sister (the youngest of the 3 kids), but she couldn't make it as her due date was Dec. 29. The doctor didn't want her to be away so close to her due date....wonder why.

Why my wedding won't be in Mexico....I'm not sure I'd trust a bunch of jealous bachelors that much.

Victor and Safiro.

I had a wonderful time down there. I'm not sure how much I told you already and I'm too lazy to go back and find out. Ricardo and I drove down to Phoenix Az together and stayed the night at my pastor's daughter's house (ya'll might remember me talking about her wedding this past summer). The next day we all drove down to Mexico together...my pastor, Joseph, Melissa, Ricardo, and myself. The whole trip lasted 4 days. Ricardo and I left Wed. morning at 3:15 am and arrived in Phoenix at 6:30 (lost an hour due to timezones). Both Ricardo and I were still in school at the time so we decided to make the return trip home in 1 day. Thats right...Hermosillo to Placerville in ONE day. We left Hermosillo Saturday morning at 6:00. We ended up spending the most amount of time re-entering the US than we've ever spent at a boarder crossing. It took us 3 hours to get across! That put us getting back to Phoenix at 3:00pm....and Ricardo and I still had a 900mi drive ahead of us. We ended up getting home at about 4:00am Sunday morning. It took us 22.5 hours to get home...straight driving..only 2 stops for gas (averaged 32mpg in my car ). That let us get back in time for our final week of school. I don't normally advise taking 3 days off of school right before finals....but this was worth it!
