10 different ways boys call their girls
1. Wifey. (Lao Po) One of the most nicknames that boys call their girls. You don't hear a lot of girls calling their boys "hubby" though. (In chinese, it's probably because "po" is easier to say than "gong". It's pretty common to hear a boy call his girl "po po" because it's easier to say. Goodness! Do people actually do this? And do girls accept this? Getting called "po po" by the boy you like?! The funny thing is, the girl calls her boy "gong gong". Maybe they have the secret wish of being together until their super old?)
2. Wifey. (Niang Zhi) This is an older and more poetic way of saying 'wifey'. Don't know the reason why boys stopped using this nickname though. But because R&B king Jay Chou sang a song called "Niang Zhi", it's starting to become popular again.
3. Whole name. Usually people who call their girl by the whole name is because he's shy to show the love they have for each other. It's fit for boys and girls who are reluctant to show their lovey-dovey feelings for each other in public.
4. Last word in their name. (I guess in english, it'd be just the first name.) This means they have a more ambiguous relationship, and they're really close. But it doesn't fit those disgustingly sweet boys - it's usually for the normal boys.
5. Dummy. Even though it's a mean nickname, but it has a sweet ring to it. It came from this drama where a really good looking boy falls in love with a poor girl and that's the nickname he has for her. The weird thing is, aren't the boys who call their girls "dummy" scared that she'll attract another good looking boy who won't call her "dummy"?
6. Small pig. This is the same situation as number 5. But if you call her this, isn't it just emphasizing her body shape?
7. Other pet names. Even though this is like number 6, but many people still use animals as nicknames.
8. Hey. Boys who are constantly putting on a tough face, and he is typically the kind of boys who want to make all the decisions. Sometimes, he'll say the full name, otherwise, he'll only say "hey".
9. That girl. In front of his friends, wanting to prove what a tough guy he is, he'll just say "that girl".
10. Baby/treasure/little darling/sweety. A very gentle and warm boy will say this to his girlfriend (who obviously likes these type of cute nicknames).
So, girls. What do your boyfriend/hubby call you? |
