I hope this finds all of you well. It's been a while since I've posted, and some stuff has happened. Nothing really big, just the regular.

I'm enjoying work. I am bored occasionally, but overall, it's been fun. I will be heading to Monterrey, Mexico at some point in the next month. That should be fun. The work will be challenging, but that'll be a nice change of pace. Currently, I just sit at my desk and try to learn how a certain software package could help our company. While interested, not really mentally stimulating. Oh well. I really enjoy the folks I work with, so that makes work fun.

Jenn and I have pets. They are pet rats. Yes, I know, I know, ewww, rats! No, not really. They are fancy rats. They are not disease ridden. They're actually quite cute. However, in the process of making a cage for them, I attempted to cut my thumb off. Note: DO NOT TRY TO CUT YOUR THUMB OFF. I missed, and just "fileted" it, according to the doctor. Moral of the story, 25 days later, I'm sitting in the waiting room of my hand doctor. Hopefully this'll be the final appointment. I'll post pictures of the girls (Mattie and Teddy) on my website sometime.

Now to the real reason for this post...I learned about a couple of really cool websites last week:

Number 1: http://del.icio.us/ This is a site that manages bookmarks. When you add a bookmark, you can tag it, and then search for it. It's completely web-based, so you can access them anywhere. Really cool. Worth checking out.

Number 2: http://www.netvibes.com/ This website is reminiscient of the late '90's trend for "start pages" The difference is, they do it right! NetVibes integrates RSS (Really Simple Sindication) readers, along with modules to check gmail, yahoo mail, etc., ebay, woot.com!, google searches, and more. Again, this is completely web-based, so you can access it from anywhere. I'm a fan, and am already addicted.

Enjoy!

-mdm

Buenos Dias, mi Amigos

Greetings from one of the largest cities in the world...Mexico City. I'm traveling for work, and was bored, so I decided to check out the Business Center at the hotel. I'm just now starting to get used to the layout of the keyboard....they move all the punctuation around so they can add letters with accents...makes sense, but it's a little confusing.

I know you are all wondering...no, I haven't been kidnapped, even though Mexico City is known for the kidnappings of business people. Oh well. I made it, and it's been a good trip. Good food, new, fun, experiences. A good time overall.

The only downside...there's a woot-off right now. Why, when I don't have access to the internet for long periods of time...oh well...it's probably better. I will spend MUCH less money. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check www.woot.com

Otherwise, things are good. I like being married....My job is fun, and new challenges present themselves every day...

I think that's all for now...More wooting!

Adios

The basic idea is that they offer a different product each day. You can purchase 1, 2, or 3 of the items from 12:00 a.m. (CST) to 11:59 p.m. (CST). If they run out, you're out of luck until the next item is posted the next day. If they have any left at the end of the day, they're gone... Well, I've been watching the site for a month or two now, but I've never purchased. That changed today, becacuse of this great (yet dreadful) thing called the "woot-off!" For a short period of time (24-72 hours), woot.com throws their item schedule out the window, and offer a new item each time an item sells out. Sometimes they have 50 of an item, sometimes they have 1700, you never know.

Sounds great, you say? Well, yes. However, not wanting to miss a great deal has allowed me an excellent excuse not to work on my Project today. That, is bad. So yeah, woot.com, please help me. Stop the woot-off!

Well, it's about time for a new item, I better get going!

I'll probably update again soon...another great procrastination excuse!

peace out.

-bear

Update Time...

So, it's definitely been a while since I've posted. Things are good, but busy as usual. I just spent quite a while putting together the website for Jenn & my wedding...the invitations go out today and tomorrow. It's pretty crazy to think, although, we have been together for 6 years now.

Plans became a lot more real this weekend, becuase Jenn and I went to Drew Furry & Sarah Birely's wedding at the Chapel, where we are getting married. Most of the stuff is done, and we have a lot of stuff left to do. Oh well, it'll all work out in the end.

Well, feel free to check it out, and sign the guestbook: http://www.michaeldmartin.com/wedding.

For now, I'm out...

Division III Basketball refs are bunk!

Good afternoon, sports fans. For those of you at Rose, you know that we've been trying lots of cool things to get kids to basketball games, stuff like rally rags, foam fingers, giving away free tuition (no joke!), etc. Well, I went to the men's game on Friday night, and got into it. I was with a few guys who had quite a bit to drink, so they were rowdy, which just pumped me up. I got into it, heckling the Rhodes Lynx, a lot. At some point, I heckled a kid named Joe (#1) on their team. He missed a shot, and I said something to the effect of "#1 isn't #1, come on Joe!". As he was running to defend, he turned to me and shouted something. There was direct eye contact. That was fun. For the rest of the game, Joe was my bitch. Along with Cory, #23, air ball.

Saturday brought a metric poop ton of video editing...nearly 12 hours on Saturday alone.

Now, cut to the Sunday afternoon game against Hendrix. I didn't wake up in time for the men's game, but I headed down to support the women. The stands were empty, so I sat in the front row, on the student side, closest to Hendrix's goal.
We were down quite a bit, by 11 at one point before the half. As the refs returned from half time, one of them commented to me about wearing flip-flops....something like "where are your shoes". Selby off-handedly remarked that was a mistake of him. I don't think he heard that. Anyway, about 5-6 minutes into the second half, there was a poor call by the ref, and in my normal heckling fashion, I yelled something to the effect of: "Come on, ref, that's horrible. Get off the court." At this point, the large ref (not the one that commented about my shoes) looks over at me, then heads to the scorers bench. He asks to speak to the "Game Administrator" because a fan needs to be removed. I'm just shocked. I can't beleive it. A few people at the scorer's table motion to me to leave, so I get up and walk out. A few people yelled in my support. Most everyone had no idea why. I've now had four people stop by and ask what I said to be ejected from the game.

To add insult to injury, the Rose Women's team came back from their 10 point defecit to lead by 13 in the second half. They won by 10. Way to go Rose. Now, we just need to get rid of the awful officals.

That's all, I'm off to super bowl it up.

Peace.

Major update time...

So, again, it's been a while since I've posted. Things are busy
as usual, but overall going pretty well. For all of you regular
readers, you may remember a few posts about my job search. Since
early September, I have been working like crazy to figure out what I
plan to do next year. For many of you going through the same
thing, or who have been through it, you know it can be tough
sometimes...I also have to consider where Jenn will end up. Well,
long story short, an excellent opportunity fell into our lap.
After nearly 15 in-person interviews, 4 phone interviews, 3 on-site
interviews, and lots of e-mail and phone calls, I have accepted an
offer. Jenn and I will be working in Indianapolis for a small
company called ProTrans International. We both interned with them
last year. It should be a challenge, but fun. We're pretty
excited to have a decision made.

Well, that's about all. I hope y'all have a great weekend!
year. I'll hopefully graduate with my masters degree, get
married, again, hopefully get a job, etc.

Christmas break was nice. I enjoyed my 5 year High School
reunion, some good family time, and lots of time with the better
half.

Not much to say now...maybe I'll update later. We'll see.
