Happy Mothers Day

We had a pajama party at my house today.  I got a new pair a jammies from each kid, and a new salad spinner, yah for me!!!  Cute story...

Yesterday...  Adam took us all out to lunch then after he was going to take the kids shopping.  The movie theater is right by the place we had lunch so I went and saw a movie while the kids went shopping with Daddy.  I bought a big bucket of movie popcorn when the movie was over so we went to Blockbuster and decided wewould have movie night.  Daddy went in to get the movie and I stayed outside with the kids.  I tried to bribe Haley with the popcorn, "Haley tell mommy what you guys got at the store and I'll give you some popcorn." Holly and Hayden freak out "NO NO Don't tell her...."  Haley says" Let me think about it....No!"  I was so cute how she said it.  I decided to ply them with popcorn and ask more specific questions.  "You can have more popcorn if you tell me, did I get my Salad Spinner?"  Holly goes into this big story about how they went to the store but the store was closing so they didn't have time to buy it, sorry mom but you didn't get that.  Then the others chimed in nope you didn't get that....  Then completely out of nowhere about 5 minutes later Hayden throws in "and you didn't get any pajamas either!"  I started laughing so hard, so they told me everything I didn't get!  And Daddy was worried about Haley she is the only one who told me nothing!!!!  Kids are so cute  Anyway I have been having a great day.  I hope you all are too!

Good Hayman quote

He had his Legos all over the place and I had been after him to pick them up.  He was on his very impatient "get these picked up NOW" command when his little sister said I'll help you (I know pretty shocking).  So they finally get them picked up and I said "you need to praise your little sisters name after she saved you like that".  He looked at  me and said "mom I only praise Jesus"  Oh boy..  we had quite the discussion after that.

"Brockies"

ok Linda this is for you as promised..

3/4 cup (1 1/2 stick) of butter

1 cup of sugar

1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

3 eggs

1 tsp vanilla

2 1/2 cup flour

2 1/2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup mini m&m (or whole bag)(we have tried normal and semi sweet we like both)

350 degree oven in lightly greased 9 x 13 pan

in one bowl cream 3/4 cup butter and both sugars until light and fluffy; then add the eggs and vanilla.

In a different bowl put in 2 1/4 cups flour, baking powder, and salt.  Slowly add this to the creamed mixture.  When they have both been combined divide in half.  Add 1 more Tbl spoon of melted butter and the cocoa in to half of the mixture.  Spread this half on the bottom of the pan.  Stir the last 1/4 cup of flour and 1/2 cup of the m&m's in to the remaining dough.  Spread this over the cocoa dough and then sprinkle the last of the m&m's on top.

Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until it starts to pull away from the sides.

This is the actual recipe however here are a couple tweaks I have done.  I use the whole bag of m&m's and add it to both layers.  The bottom layer seems a little bland without the m&m's.  Also while you are mixing the white part put the brown part in the fridge it makes putting on the top part a little easier.  I wish you could see the picture but essentially what they look like is a brown brownie type substance on bottom with a white cookie on top.  Hence the name "Brockie"

I hope you enjoy these as much as we do.  Call me if you have any questions.

Still getting over the flu...

Poor Haley she is the latest victim of the flu.  We were up half the night and she did a great job we only missed the bucket once.  She was so confused she was not sure what was happening to her.  She woke up to tell me her mouth hurt.  I wasn't sure what that meant so in my half daze I said you need to go to the bathroom.  As we were sitting on the potty she said "I think I'm gonna frow up" so I grabbed the first thing I could and she frowed up in to the trash can.  Then continued to go down hill from there.  She is now laying on the couch watching Scooby Doo.  Holly has been hit with the bug so the only one left is Hayman.  My little man is not so little anymore, yesterday he lost his first tooth.  It was a very big deal he is now a big kid like Holly.  Already the are both wiggling their other teeth to see who will loose the next one.  Gosh I can't wait until everyone is well again!!!!
