Hey Generation Alice, guess what?  It's Passover!  And someone at Alice is part of "the tribe".

Dayna is Jewish and, therefore, celebrating Passover (no eating bread, Dayna!).  Did you know I run a Dayna fanclub on MySpace called the Dayna Society?  Yeah, I'll talk about that some other time.

Now, Dayna's constantly playing Matisyahu's "King Without A Crown".  Supposedly, Matisyahu is part of "the trube" too.  Therefore, in celebration of Passover and in honor of Dayna, Matisyahu is the artist for this post.  Check him out here!

Oh, and one last thing--have you qualified for your trip to Puerto Vallarta yet?  Alice Artists of the Days have included John Mayer (today!), Kelly Clarkson, Sarah McLachlan, Dave Matthews Band, Train, Sheryl Crow and so many others.  You're gonna wanna be callers 9, 7, or 3 next week FOR SURE because it's the last week that Sarah and No Name are pulling winners for that trip to Mexico at the end of May!

I'm out, Generation Alice.  Jewel will be in the Alice Lounge on the 21st, so be sure to tune in!

Hey Generation Alice, I haven't forgotten about the page. I've just been really busy lately, but I promise to have a new band or artist this weekend! I haven't picked one yet to review, though, so if you know of one, let me know.

By the way, what is up with all the local radio stations, Alice included, and their increase in playing Prince music? Nothing against Prince, just don't wanna hear his music as much as I've been hearing it.

Hey Generation Alice...alright, there's this band I'm itching to talk about.  I used to live in El Paso, Texas and before I left for the Bay Area, I bought an album called "X&Y" by a band called Coldplay (in fact, it was just a few hours before I hopped on the train...but we'll talk about Train some other day).

Here's the story:  Last summer, I was listening to the radio on my way to a store and I heard a new single called Speed Of Sound from Coldplay's new album.  I got to the store and headed straight for the music section.  I was checking out some Fleetwood Mac and Gavin Degraw when this lady came up to me and asked me if I knew anything about her son's favorite band...Coldplay.  I think I said something like, "Uh, all I know is they've got this new single out that's awesome and they did this song called Clocks way back when..."  She asked me if I could help her find Coldplay's new album.  The two of us spent about 10 minutes going up and down the music  aisles before we found "X&Y".  She was thrilled we found this album for her son, and since she seemed pretty excited about it, I decided to make my first Coldplay purchase ever (having only heard the two songs).  A few hours later, I left El Paso bound for the Bay Area.

When the train crossed the Arizona-California border, I popped Coldplay's CD into my laptop and listened to it all the way through.  From that day forward, I was hooked--Coldplay was, in one simple word, "brilliant".

Chances are if you listen to Alice, you know who Coldplay is, so instead of going through Coldplay's bio (which you can link to above), I'll give you a bit of inside trivia you may not have heard:

Every year, there's this award show hosted by a radio station in the UK called "The Brits".  Think of it as an American version of the Grammy Awards.  Listeners of this radio station go online or text message their vote on various categories of awards.  Mostly, the bands and artists are British, but hey, Madonna won an award (that British accent isn't fooling ANYONE).  Coldplay won an award, and during their acceptance speech one of the band members kept saying that their presence at the awards show would be one of the last times we heard from the band in a long while.

Which leads me to wonder--is the band taking a break?  Who knows, but one thing is for sure:  The band is on tour right now with a camera crew, so even if Coldplay doesn't put out a studio album anytime soon, there should be a live album (and maybe even a DVD a-la-Any Given Thursday) later this year or early next year!

Hey Generation Alice, I'm starting a blog!  I'm Matthew, I've been blogging for about two years on LiveJournal, Xanga, MySpace, Greatest Journal, Blurty, Blogger...yeah, I've been around.

Alright, so a little bit about myself?  I'm a nut for music, radio, and John Mayer.  Yeah, that's me in a nutshell.  Keep in mind those three things, and we'll be awesome.

Right now, I do online promotion of Alice @ 97.3FM, an awesome radio station out of San Francisco, California's bay area, on the side of my life.  Who knows where this'll take off?  Let's take it one step at a time!

By the way, you can hear Alice @ 97.3 streaming live on my Xanga page.  Or, you can go to www.radioalice.com and listen to it streaming there.

Later days, guys! --Matthew
