Well, I've had the coolest birthday in a while. [er-maybe birthweek or month, it was kinda spread out]
First a few weeks ago I ran up to cleveland and grove city and hung out with Paddy. Link, nuff said. (he gave me bday gifts, that's why it counts. noteably pudding and a shirt) Then blom paid for me to go to a brewers/reds game. looaads of fun at great american ball park! Then the MARATHON (well, half of one)! (also paid for as bday present) And Mom came down to see it! And I took 3rd!! [in the under-20 category; 47th OUT OF 2075 RUNNERS WHO FINISHED!] http://www.onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php?race_id=6525
Then I led PT, belting out orders for pushups and running! (ok, maybe that doesn't count) Then for the actual birthday a zillion people said happy birthday, and cedarville ums gave me ... a bill for 5 bucks they originally said i wouldn't have to pay. -.- oh well. Lots of nice people also sent me cards! But the next day was PT, so I figured I'd go to bed early, but the lounge underneath me was filled with screaming people, so sleep wasn't working. Then almost at midnight some guys banged into the room and said, "Hey Matt, come over here!" and I thought, oh well, I'm not really asleep anyway. So I went out, and there was the whole sister unit outside with a big sign and brownies, and they sang happy birthday to me and my ra, who has a birthday tomorrow!!!!!! Needless to say, it was a great surprise! THANKS EVERYBODY!!!!!!
I'm still in Dayton, doing as the Daytons do. (but haven't seen the Dayton Dragons) And I'm training to run a half marathon at the USAF marathon (Sept 15). So remember, Don't mess with the Air Force:
I heard something on the radio that made me start thinking. Job was a great guy. So good, for reasons he couldn't know or understand, his entire life fell apart. In one moment, everything he had worked his life for was destroyed; everything he owned, all his children, and almost all his servants. [Job 1] And he said "The LORD gave, and the LORD has taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD." So, really people, what do we complain about? Do we seriously think we have it bad?
You don't have any pain! You live a padded, insulated life! Stop complaining! If you don't think anything can be hurt by complaining, just consider that when [Num 14] "all the people of Israel grumbled against Moses and Aaron," being discontent with the land that God had given them and not trusting God to protect them, they were banished to die in the desert. Every one who complained. Because they complained. So don't worry! Lighten up! and you just might find something to be thankful for!
