  • lessons learned from kids Day 5:

-I've changed my mind, kids being whiny and comlplainy is never OK.  Cute really isn't so cute anymore the morning of Day 5

-everything is a competition...bath order, where to sit in the car, getting out of the pool, eating, watching TV, walking, running, telling jokes....pretty much anyhting

-there is nothing better than hearing the cousins laugh...even cooler if you get to make them laugh

-kids are honest...I now know that my house is messy and i quote "if one of those design shows came over they would go ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh"

-there is nothing better than watching the cousins listen to the husband tell his "nightime stories"....its the saga of the Singing Knight, his sidekick George, and the ticket man

-VBS is better when there are kids to tell you all about what they learned on the car ride home

-my favorite time is saying prayers with them when they go to bed.......which last night was followed by one of my least favorite times when they got out of bed to try and pick up Colby to put in their bed.  They got me out of bed because Colby is too fat for them to pick up.   Which was followed by crying, and more competition about who got to sleep with the cat...... Colby ended up back in our bed

kids go home to their parents tonight.  i'm tired.

  • we're having a "kid week"

the husband's cousins age, 6, 10, and 13 are staying with us this week and we're going to VBS at night. (we're super lucky that they are awesome cool kids to hang out with)

the cousins keep telling us that they're preparing the husband and I for parenting.....then they laugh maniacally and run off

    Lessons learned from kids Day3:

-everything and anything can hurt your feelings, espscially when your bro/sis did it, even if they did nothing

-kids move fast, except when you need to get in the car to be somewhere, then they move very slow

-kids will spend up to an hour in the bath tub when there are jets in it

-kids love giant cats named Colby

-when all else fails in the picky food department, a capri sun and peanut butter sandwhich save the day

    *************

and something I'm learning about myself from VBS....I've been doing "outdoor games" with the kids... likely the easiest and most fun job at VBS

this rule is in development but it goes something like this:

Only cute kids are allowed to be whiney and complainy to me

cute kids are defined as all children under 6 to 8 (haven't decided the exact cut off age)

...all other children need to grow up and get over it, we're just playing tag.....this is supposed to be fun

  • Baby Bunny Nate is MIA.

The hole in the nest is completely filled in.  In my happy lala world I can only assume that Nate has finally grown and run off to live his life.  I'm sure that this time next year he will return to the flower pot with his great great great grandchildren to show them where he was born.  Hop free baby Nate.....be fruitful and multiply

    in other news...

guess who is coming home around midnight tonight
