| So I turned 27 on Friday. Definitely not a milestone birthday. I didn't even take the day off of work like I usually do, although we did have friends over for a party. I mentioned to a friend that one big change over the years is the way you spend money that you get for your birthday. At age 12 if I got money for my birthday I would have bought a toy or video game, at age 21 I probably would have bought beer or a video game at age 27 I bought stock and kitchen appliances. That's right, I put some of my birthday money into my eTrade account and with the rest I bought an ice cream maker attachment for our stand mixer.
Anyway, so over the weekend I ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler. Nice run, very fast course. Weather was cool and wet, although it didn't really rain during the race, just before and after. I sorta took a hiatus from running and only did this race because a friend of mine couldn't so I took her number. We did the official swap, so it's all legal. I didn't train too hard. I put in a few longish runs just to make sure I could still cover the distance, but nothing too structured. I also started at the back of the pack because I was trying to find my friend Angela. Because of that I spent a lot of the race running around people. Also the first couple miles were on a skinny road, so it was hard to pass, so my time definitely reflects that. A 1:24:42 isn't a terrible time, but certainly not my best although I don't feel like I pushed that hard either. Still it was a nice jog through the Cherry Blossoms and very pretty. Maybe next time I'll be a bit more serious about training and start a little farther forward. It would be a good course to try to PR on.

| Perhaps drinking two cups of coffee at Bible study was not the smartest thing, since I'm still awake at 1220. I should probably rethink my stance on decaf coffee...

| So I spent my evening taking apart a washing machine. Lets hope I can figure out how to get it back together.

| I really want this grad school thing to be over. I've determined that working, going to school and trying to have a family and social life just doesn't work. Last week was technically my "spring break", however because I had to go to work and because of the perfect storm of church Easter activities and St. Patrick's day, I got almost no school work done. I essentially have 6 weeks to get a ton of work done. This is going to be a fun sprint to the end of the semester. I'm hoping I can make my fall semester a little easier, and then finish up and go back to just work/family/social life. I like school but this is getting old.
