| Im at the halfway mark!So I just got off work and can now get a lil' extra sleep today because I don't have to go back in until 9:30 tonight. Yeeaaaah!!! It always feels so good making it to Monday. It means more sleep and that I'm now on the downhill slope of my work week. In case some of you reading this didn't already know, I work the 7 on /7 off schedule on nights. Which means I work 80 hours in one week. It can make for a long week sometimes. I love it though, it works well for me right now. Last night was an interesting night. Worked in NeuroTrama and had a bad pt come in. Pt had done some pretty horrible things to himself. I got to see the nice cleaned up version though. David Frana, a fellow RT and one of my classmates from school, was in ER and got to see the the raw perspective. The pt came in because he had given himself a self inflicted lac to his throat from ear to ear. David was in awe of the damage and let me know what to expect when he headed my way. It always amazes me what humans can do to others.... but mostly to themselves. How can people convince themselves that this life is so horrible that leaving this world on gruesomely bloody circumstances could be better? My take on it is that life is always what you make it and how you perceive your place in this world. I don't know... anyway, I think I'm gonna throw in some laundry and then hit the hay. Night ya'll!!! | | |
| Long Time..... No blogging!!!!Wow, its been forever. Almost a year, but I now have a new computer (got it for Christmas) so I'm gonna give it another try. So to get everybody up to date, this is what I've been up to.... Spent the summer on the lake mostly. Hanging out with family and friends with our boats tied up together getting nice and baked. Still working night shift at St. Johns and loving it. Been hanging out mainly in the NICU and ER when I'm there. Fun, fun. Picked up bow hunting and I love it! Although I haven't had any luck with luring that dream 26pt nontypical whitetail in yet! Hey it could happen! I'll upload some hunting photos when I get the chance. Nothing sexier than a girl willing to wipe doe urine on herself and dress up in some bulky camo. Lol! Cagney is attending Drury University and is due to graduate from the law enforcement academy in June! He's loving every minute of it. Even though he had to experience getting maced so that they know what it feels like. I remember doing things like that in RT school, only it was with IPV instead of something that makes your face feel like its going to burn off! I cant wait to see him in that uniform. Had a good Christmas with my family in my lil' apartment. Made a smoked turkey and cheesy mashed potatoes, yummy! Had our normal New Years in Protem, where everybody piles in the barn with good music and beverages that make your belly grow warm. It was tons of fun. Well, thats the highlights. Not much, but it was the details (that I don't feel like typing and that would make this entry way too long and boring) that make my world go round. Now that we're caught up I'll get better at that though. Til next time! | | |
| I'm still aliveI am absolutely horrible at this whole updating the blog thing. I think I may average an entry once a month at the rate I'm going. Oh well. Not a whole lot has been going on. I just started working 12 hour shifts, instead of 8 hour shifts. Which means I work 7 days of 12's and then I'm off for 7 days. Gotta tell you that I'm loving the 7 days off. I actually get to visit with family more, which I love love and if I take a vacation in between the two weeks I would normally have off, I get three weeks off. Its gooooooood! (That was a Jim Carrey impression) So to Glenna who was wondering if I was even still alive, due to my xanga blog devotion, yes I am, just busy. Anyways cant wait for Valentines. My Cagney and I are buying a new bedroom set. Can't wait! Since we're still sleeping on the mattress he's had since he was nine. The poor thing has had a hard life. I'm thinking the new one should be made of memory foam. I hear thats pretty good stuff. Whatcha think? Love you all, Have a wonderful "lovers day" ♥ Blondie | | |
| Hanging in there.....Where, oh where, art thou electricity? Still with out power and still hanging in there with the in-laws. I live in Pleasant Hope where our electricity providers are Empire. We've been told to expect power restoration no sooner than next Friday. I miss my comfy bed and couch and being able to walk around the house naked. ( just kidding about that last part) Oh well, be thankful for what ya got. Right? The hospital has been crazy. We're getting all kinds of new admits that are only there because there home pulmo aids aren't working and their elderly bodies can't regulate their body temps as well as us young whipper snappers. So we're all running around like chickens with their heads cut off.. Can't wait for all this to settle down. At least its only 20,000 without power now instead of 75,000. Hope everyone is adapting well and that we won't have to adapt too much longer! Love ya all Blondie | | |
| Ice Storm!Oh the poor little trees! The sounds of cracking, groaning, and spittle against the window were only clues to what we would wake up to this morning. That and the absence of electricity. Looked outside the window about 7:30 this morning to see limbs and whole trees broken everywhere in the surrender to their burden of ice sheaths. The grass looked unreal with layers of ice surrounding each blade. Overhead were the power lines that had about a inch and a half of ice grasping and hanging. It was such an awesome sight. So now I and my husband are camping out at the in-laws house, who were kind enough to share their electricity filled, warm home. I still feel so bad for those trees. There was this especially beautiful strong oak tree that is right across from our apartments, completely uprooted from the top heavy burden of the ice. So sad! Hoping to get our power turned back on soon, but candlelight was very romantic and no T.V. is a great incentive to talk, cuddle, and create your own entertainment. VERY NICE! Hope everyone is staying warm and safe. Love ya Blondie | | |
