Whoa. Who just saw Zach Braff and Mandy Moore strolling around an empty street in SoHo today??

Zach Braff is a lot smaller than I pictured him in real life. Mandy Moore was looking at me weirdly probably cause I was staring at her Billy Joel shirt and not noticing who she was till she was two feet away from me.

Blasted! I got a 10-page paper to write this weekend. Otherwise I'd wanna party with y'all.

The Met!

I like this photo of the Italian Renaissance sculpture garden.

And this of the Madonna and Child in the Medieval gallery.

Speaking of that pair, I really liked the Max Ernst exhibition, has anyone else seen it? I don't know the first thing about Dadaism or Surrealism. Or any type of modern art for that matter. (I stared at that Autumn-whatever Jackson Pollock painting like what the--). But I love Ernst's painting of the Virgin Mary forcefully spanking baby Jesus. As his butt is gleaming red and his halo falls to the floor.

Ooh and I also liked Ernst's collage books made from 19th century prints. So irresistibly indecent.

Like a gentleman with bat wings kissing a woman's hand. Or a lamp filled with butterflies, as skeletons creep out of windows.

I want his first two collage books if they weren't so expensive. But all they have is Une Semaine de Bonte. Which doesn't seem to have the absurd storylines and crude jokes that his first two do. Gah! I want it I want it!

OK breathe. More pretty things I was allowed to take pictures of:

I forgot who painted this, though it looks similar to Ingres, which I really liked last time at the Frick. I love hyperrealistic, though idealized, religious, allegorical, classical, narrative-type paintings with fat babies. I especially love fat babies. Oh and I like seeing how saints die in paintings. And I like Vermeer, which has nothing to do with anything else I listed. (Except for that one Vermeer I saw today that has a snake spewing blood as it's crushed by the stone slab of GOD).

I have yet to take a nightshot that's not in horrible quality, I apologize. But maybe we can get through this together.

The first opening act. The Sadies. I swear their first song sounded like Cotton-Eyed Joe.

The second opening act. Stars. They were poppy fun with synths. Oh that's not a picture of them by the way. The green lights were pretty.

Did YOU know today's Canada Day? Yeah, I didn't think so. The New Pornographers! Fresh Canadian fun. Maybe it's just me, but the harmonies seemed too screechy. And they didn't play Miss Teen Wordpower! Darn.

And for your reference it takes 2 hours and 15 minutes to get from Prospect Park, Brooklyn to Fort Lee. o_O

All in all. Good stuff.
