| Oh my.So. Somebody stole my car today. I walked outside this morning and --- the ghetto mobile was gone! Luckily, the police found it a couple of hours later, a few blocks away. Someone had pried off the metal lock. It had been hot wired, so of course it's not driveable right now. And it was plenty fun towing it back, since the wheel would barely turn... the steering column is totally jacked! The person(s) cut off my blinker light/windshield wiper handle and wired it from that side, but didn't take apart the ignition. WTF? It seems that they were looking for anything of value, since every paper from my console was strewn across the seats. So I had to have a friend take me to the bank and whatnot so I could change account numbers, since my bank statement was missing, amoung other things. Gah. This happened after I was laid off along with 40 of my co-workers last week. Company downsizing due to a merger. Pfft. The silver lining - we do get some severence pay! But still, I think it's safe to say that January 2008 has officially SUCKED!!! | | |
| It's that festive time of year!Hey everyone! How's it going? Long time no blog! I've lost 30 pounds. Go me! I've accomplished this feat by walking more, being broke (have one pop tart for breakfast and ramen noodles for lunch and dinner and watch those pounds fly away! - well, if you're overweight, I suppose...), and drinking lots of coffee with nutrasweet. Mainly because coffee is free at work! I've been in my apartment for 2 months now. I like my apartment. The neighbors upstairs aren't very roudy, which is nice. There are those Saturday nights when I am usually awakened by some kind of drama and/or rap music at around 2 or 3am from across the way, but besides that, it's not so bad! Christmas is fast approaching. I unfortunately overdrew my checking account by a total of $31.00, and subsequently got charged $156.00 worth of fees. Did you know that Bank of America charges you $39.00 for a transaction that overdraws your account by $2.07? I didn't know that. And this is not the best time to have learned it. Ah, December. The most expensive month, and the month when I am always the brokest! Don't you love it?? I will have to come up with some creative ways to earn some money. I tried to donate plasma a couple of weeks ago, but I guess I was dehydrated, seeing as my blood coagulated in the little plastic tubes. (Too much coffee. WAY too much coffee.) My car is still trucking along!! My friends never cease to be amazed by the wonders of my ghetto mobile. The boys are getting bigger and ornrier everyday -- you gotta love 'em! I'm still single. Not hating it or loving it. Just - am. I suppose that's all that is new with me. Hit me back, yo! And if I don't get on here again before it: HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS, AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR! ~ Mel | | |
| When it rains it pours, and then it floods!Soooo, a friend of mine looked at my car and said that the problem has something to do with the compression and something about rings in the engine - which would probably cost $1500 to fix at a shop.
Nice.
Then the manager of the apartments I'm looking to move into called me yesterday and informed me that their computer system and in house telephones had all gone out - major technical difficulties - so I couldn't move in today!
I then informed them that I just found out I couldn't move right now anyway, because the electric company wants to charge me a $400 deposit now. Why I was stupid enough to trust my ex husband to keep the electric on in my name and pay the bill on time, I don't know. His house got foreclosed on and the bank switched the electricity out of my name near the end of August - I was just going to have it transferred over to the apartments, which would have been costless!
*Sigh*
THEN - I found out that my place of employment is merging with, and then being sold to, NCO. *I* have debt with NCO. Apparently, this is a problem. (If you've ever had medical bills gone unpaid, it's a good chance you have a collection on your credit report from NCO!)
Is a little peace of mind too much for me to wish for?
So, that's my vent for the day. Things could always be worse. I mean, I could be a midget and not be able to reach my spaghetti-o's.
Yep.

| and so on, and so forth...Some friends and I went to the club tonight. I go to karaoke bars a lot, but not clubs anymore. Clubs are way too crowded on Saturday nights, and only the old guys hit on me there. Let me rephrase that - only the unemployed old guys (who are usually missing some teeth) hit on me! I'm sure they're nice fellas and all, but come on now... are there no guys my own age who like thick girls?!
Ha. But yeah. Anyway...
We went out to eat at Applebee's beforehand, and the people behind us were loud as all can be. Some guy was talking about how his ex-girlfriend had to "shit in a bag" and was laughing about it. His friends asked him why that was and he replied "Oh, she had colon cancer. But she was still pretty hot, for having to shit in a bag!" *More laughter*. At this point I was tempted to shove a celery stick up his nose because 1)that's not funny, 2)please don't talk about shitting in a bag while people are eating, KTHNX!!! But whatever. I take comfort in knowing that one of these days, karma is most likely going to kick his ass.
In other news... I'm all set up to move next weekend, and now my car is running crappy again - like it isn't getting enough gas still (had the fuel pump and filter replaced two months ago). When I start it up, it sounds like it's going to blow the fuck up for a couple of minutes, then the engine calms down but... if I push down hard on the gas, it stalls for a second then jerks forward - I'm guessing something has to be clogged. Cars are so damn complicated.
Anyway, it's almost 2 am so I'm going to bed - g'night.

| I can't believe it's already August...Hola long lost Xanga buddies!
This year is going by too fast!
I'll be moving into a new (not brand new, but new to me!) apartment next week, yay!
Still working at SST. Good times.
Who doesn't love staring at a computer for 8 hours a day and getting
paid for it? I guess when you throw in the random cuss outs over
the phone it's not so much fun, but hey. It works for me!
The boys start school next week, I can't believe it! My youngest
will go to pre-kindegarden and my oldest to kindegarden. They
grow so fast! Have to go shoe shopping later. Their feet
grow fast, too.
I'm still fat. *SURPRISE!*
/cough/
Well, I guess that's all for now. I'm going outside for a
smoke. I bet my hair will dry in 30 seconds out there. It's
flippin hot man.
