April 24, 2008

Hello!  I hope everyone has had a good day.  My day has been busy as usual.  Ashley didn't have preschool today.  I enjoyed her being at home.  I am ready for school to be out so I can have more time with my children.  They are all growing up so very fast.  Stephen helped out during the twirler, flag and drum major tryouts.  Congratulations to all of the following.  I am so very proud of you.

Brenna - Jr. High twirler

Kelsey - High School twirler

Megan - High School flag

Michael - High School drum major and cheerleader

Stephen went to eat at, can you guess Linda ?  Well, if you guessed Gilberto's you were 100% correct!  Stephen went out with some friends from school.  I think that has to be the first time or close to the first time that he has done that.  Usually, it has been with the church youth group or a school function.  He ate out with Michael, Andrea, Christy (also made drum major), and I think a girl named Veronica.

Becca has a field trip tomorrow.  She will be going to a zoo.  Then she will get to eat lunch at a park before returning to school.  I am going, but will catch up with Becca after I pick up my van.  I haven't had my van now for 2 weeks.  The transmission is suppose to be fixed now.  I am ready to get it back.  I do not like driving Trozy's truck.  I much rather drive Stephen's.

Ashley is doing good.  She has like 9 or 10 days of preschool left.  I am ready for her to finish.  I can't hardly believe that she will start kindergarten in August.  I pray that God will place Ashley is the class with the teacher he feels will be best for her.  That is always how I have prayed.  That God will place my children where he wants them in school, not where I want them.  God's will is always best.

I went to a ladies' fellowship at church tonight.  It was wonderful as usual.  Thanks to the ladies of the Faith Class.  We had all different kinds of salads.  It was very good.  Thank you ladies for the cookbooks that you made for everyone.  The guest speaker was wonderful.  My heart went out to her when she mentioned about her son dying this past year from a type of cancer.  Oh, the faith that she has.  What a testimony and witness.  God is really using her.  Then there was Ester and a couple of other ladies that led us in a time of praise and worship.  They sang before the message.  How beautiful it was.  Ester asked the question IS JESUS THE FIRST THING ON YOUR MIND WHEN YOU GET UP IN THE MORNING?  She said it was just a question and said that HE should be.  She is right.  Jesus should be the first one on our minds when we wake up in the morning.  Her and the other ladies singing sang the song GIVE ME JESUS.  If you haven't ever heard that song before, you need to listen to it.  It is very touching.  The first time I ever heard that song was when I was participating in a ladies bible study written by Ann Graham Lotts (daugther of Rev. Billy Graham).  It is a beautiful song.

Well, it is getting late.  I need to get some sleep if I am going to make the trip to get my van and to go on Becca's field trip.  I pray that everyone has a goodnight and a good day tomorrow.

Before I go, I wanted to share this with those that have gone through the death of a loved one.

The death of people whom we love

Brings sorrow and deep pain;

But if our loved ones know the Lord,

Our loss becomes their gain. - Sper

BECAUSE CHRIST LIVES, DEATH IS NOT TRAGEDY BUT TRIUMPH.

April 22, 2008

SURPRISE!!!!

Lydia, this is for you.   I am finally making an entry on my xanga.

It has been a very long time since I have posted anything.  The last time I posted something was right before my Henry (father-in-law) died.  It has been hard.  The children miss him so very much.  We all do for that matter.  Becca and Ashley voices it more than anyone else.  Well, that was in back in October 2007.  Now here it is near the end of April 2008.

This year has been a joyous year for the most part.  I have had my downs, but having my children in my life brings me such joy.  They are very special blessings and gifts sent to me from our Heavenly Father above.  Stephen turned 15 years old back in January.  Becca had asked Jesus into her heart back on November 7, 2007 while at Eighth Avenue Baptist Church on a Wednesday night.  She was baptized on January 20, 2008 at First Baptist Church.  Ashley turned 5 in February.  Can you believe my baby girl is 5 years old?  All three of my children love the Lord so very much.  I enjoy seeing how God is working in their lives.  Stephen plays the guitar some on Wednesday nights during the youths' Praise and Worship service.  He played one morning during church.  God has something very special in mind for all three of my children.

I will try and post some pictures sometime before to long.  I haven't quite figured out how to add things to the site.

I went with Artie (mother-in-law) tonight to a Hospice Banquet.  She is a hospice volunteer.  We had a good time.  A lady that I haven't seen since around 1993 was there.  She still plays the piano.  I went over to her and told her hi and that it was good to see her.  Artie was surprised tonight.  She was even speechless.  She was chosen as Hospice's Volunteer Of The Year.  I think it warmed her heart.  I was glad that I got to be there to see her being presented with the award.  It really meant so much to her.  I told her that I was going to have to take her picture with the plaque.

Ok, this is becoming kind of lenghty.  I guess I ought to wrap it up for tonight.  I would already be asleep, but I am waiting on the clothes to finish drying.  I want to be able to be rested so I will feel like doing more laundry and finish cleaning the family room.  When Stephen gets home, it will be time to work some more on the FLOWER PROJECT.  However, Stephen will have to stay after school tomorrow for Band Section Leader tryouts.  Then a little later will be church time.

Oh, Becca participated in JUMP ROPE FOR HEART today at school.  She raised money for the AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION.  On May 2nd and 3rd, I will be participating in RELAY FOR LIFE.  I am trying to raise money for the American Cancer Society.  I am on one of the teams from the church that I attend.  We are known as THE BUSY BEES.

Well, I better go for now.  Before I go though, I am going to put a quote on here.  I don't know who said it, but it is true.  Today has been the celebration of EARTH DAY.  Protecting the planet is important, but I agree with the following quote.

HOW FOOLISH TO WORSHIP THE CREATION,

WHEN THE CREATOR IS SO MUCH GREATER.

Sunday October 14, 2007

I can't believe it is already October 14th.  It has been a busy weekend.  But, it has been a good weekend.  The football game was here Friday night.  The Lions beat the Bisons 35-0.  GO LIONS!!!  Mr. and Miss THS for the 2007-2008 school year was announced before the game.  Logan, the son of one of my friends, was chosen as Mr. THS.  I was proud and happy for him.  CONGRATULATIONS TO LOGAN!!!

Saturday, Stephen went with his Memaw to get his Christmas present early.  That morning, Becca and Ashley attended cheerleading camp.  They had fun.  Ashley was chosen "MOST SPIRITED" out of her group (pre-k,k).  CONGRATULATIONS TO ASHLEY!!!

Today, our church celebrated its 130th birthday.  After the morning worship service, we had a celebration.  We enjoyed a catered meal by Sam's.  We had a time of worship.  Then there was words of testimony and thanksgiving.  To finish up, some of our youth did a skit that was touching.  We had a nice time.  Right now, the girls are playing.  Stephen and I are watching the Cowboys vs. the Patriots game.  Go Cowboys!!!  Both teams are undefeated this year.

I am going to go for now.  I have things that I need to get done.  I pray everyone has a good evening and night.

Saturday October 6, 2007

I am finally getting around to writing my first entry.  Everything is going good here.  It has been a busy week and weekend.  This week, three special people celebrated birthdays.  First, Poppy celebrated his birthday.  Poppy is my father-in-law.  Next two very special friends of mine celebrated their birthdays.  Denise and Judy are very true and special friends.  I love and appreciate them.  My children do too.  They are so good to my children.  I thank them for treating my children so special.

The girls and I traveled out of town last night to the football game.  The Lions (our team) beat the Indians 59-0.  We are now 5-0.  Our team went into the game last night rated #8 in 2A in the state.  GO LIONS!!!!  It was neat having the different news channels there to cover the game.  We stopped by Memaws when we got back so we could watch clips of the game on SPORTS 10 FRIDAY.  That was fun!  So many people from our town went to the game last night.  There was standing room only on our side.

Today was the band marching invitational here at the football field.  It rained off and on.  We needed it.  I got to visit with Daina today.  She is a very special friend too.  Her son Brent is like my own.  Stephen and Brent have been friends since 3rd grade.  Eddie, Daina and their children moved right before school started last year.  We miss having them here.  At the marching invitational today, our high school band earned a "1" from all three judges.  Also, they were chosen as the BEST BAND out of class 2A there.  We are so proud of them.

Well, I pray that everyone is having a good weekend.  I love all my family and friends.  You are very special to me and I love you all!
