Russia II

More pictures!!!

We went to an old Russia school house. I'm waiting to be spanked.

What we did with 70% of our free time. Sit in some random place in the center of downtown doing nothing.

Me and Patrick match! This kid was awesome...even though he thought that I smoke pot.

Our tiny train car that we all slept in. 24 hour ride to St. Petersburg...

I got a tremendous amount of blisters there...

Even devout Mc. D haters like Pat and I couldn't resist after three weeks of borstch!

ABBA!

more later...

The reason I never title my posts is because I usually run a couple cheesy phrases through my head before realizing that I'm not good at titling something I don't even know what is about. Is that sentence correct? Whatever. So I've been gone....for the longest time....*sings* and I have some pictures to prove my absence. So delight in them and hopefully they will say in a thousand words what I could not.

My closest friends on the trip who were all convinced that I was a pothead. I have no idea why.

The tomb of Peter the Great.

I took this picture especially for Shannon. The one of the right (your right) is Anastacia!

These are my girls. Beautiful in every way. Marta (the blonde) and I were roommates as were the other two. I got to tell Paulena (the girl on my left) about predestination on our 24 hour train ride to St. Petersburg. It was amazing.

I was attempting to do the sexy "Oh my gosh!" look and cover my mouth....but as you can see that didn't really work.

The girls, Partick and the Kremlin. I'm the only one without glasses....

My beautiful roommate. I love this girl so much.

The subway in Moscow. They said if you touched the dog's nose you'd have good luck. But I clearly wasn't prepared for the picture.

This picture would've been better is I could've gotten closer, but our tour guide was already trying to drag us around and with getting quite frustrated that we had to stop and take a picture of everything we saw. This is a girl running through pigeons and having a marvelous time doing so.

One the most expensive malls in the world.

The girls and the Red Square.

Andy and his doll. He took it everywhere.

St. Basil's cathedral.

Outside of school waiting for our tour guide.

How we spent our time in one of the most beautiful cities int he world....goofing off.

In class....

At the hotel at some random hour in the morning with no sleep whatsoever...

Our whole group.

Since the mall was so gosh darn expensive, we bought balloons for a dollar a piece.
This last one is the last night there. Completely sleep deprived.

The road goes ever on and on...

...And I'm afraid that this shall be my last post for a very long time. School is wrapping up. I have a short two and a half weeks left with more than enough to keep my occupied. But I thought that I'd leave you all with a few reflections before you don't hear from me for the next two months.
Last night I was riding in the back seat of Nicole's car, absent-mindedly listening to Stephen sing the electric guitar solo and watching the street lights go by, illuminating the entire car before vanishing and leaving it black again. It's only 11:30pm but after a long and stressful week of school we are all ready go home and sleep forever. My eyes droop as I pull my legs closer to my chest (there is no room on the floor because Alexis' stuff is all over it), thinking of this time last year. I had just come from Uzbekistan, praying, hoping, dreaming and not knowing what my life would hold here in the States. I remember feeling like I was in a dream everytime I'd wake up in my grandparents' home thinking "I'm not really in America..." But I was, and now I am. I've finished one year at Edina Public Highschool with friends and recognition, and in the process have some how with the help of God, managed to maintain my faith and morality. Things I never thought would happen are an everyday occurance now. I eat my lunches from the cafeteria; I have for the past 9 months. I'm on the Nordic Ski team. I'm in Varsity Choir with friends and respect. I've been asked out by guys from school who I thought never even looked at me sideways. I've made amazing friends like Alexis, Nicole, Stephen, Tim, Brandon, Mikaya...the list goes on...But this "accomplishments" are nothing. In fact they aren't accomplishments. They're God's graces upon my life. I have a cellphone (WERID!). I'm going on a missions trip this summer. I'm going to be a camp counselor. I'm going to Russia. So many things I never thought would happen. God suprises you in so many ways. I wonder what this year holds...

We shall see.

In the meantime, Micaela and I are going shopping at Target for a gift for her friend, and I, well I am going to say goodbye to my faithful xanga readers. Xanga's been my therapy in the many ways this year. It probably will continue to be when I get back.

xoxoxoxo,
Gabriella Ruth Huerta
