It's been a long time...

Wow, haven't done this for awhile.  Well for all you subscribers out there who would even be remotely curious of how my life has been as of late...it has been fantastic!  God has blessed me with a wonderful family, fantastic friends, an awesome job, a compatable (and lovely) girlfriend, a superb university, and a fulfilling mission at Shawnee State University.

I spent my summer working in the Intensive Care Unit at SOMC, working on the Men's Bible Study for this fall (we are studying Wild at Heart if you are interested men), and has an awesome trip down to Orlando, Florida to pick up Allie from her summer project in Disney World. 

Now only a few weeks remain between having free time and having no free time, I mean classes start soon! 

I would ask all of you to keep Shawnee State's lost souls in your prayers.  Pray that God moves on that campus through all the campus ministries and Christians.  I want to praise God for being the gracious God he is, and to thank all of you wonderful people for taking the time out to read this and praying for the campus.

Have a great time during the remainder of your summer, and remember, fly with Christ everyday!

I have been reading The 21 Irrefutable Laws of Leadership and already I have had so many revelations about what I do, and how to do things in the future.  Just simple laws of leadership that I have been ignoring or did not even know about are becoming more visible.  There are several people in my life, that let me know how to do things.  I try, to please everyone.  But when I read this in that book, it was really encouraging.  I will share it with you.  It is a quote from out late President Theodore Roosevelt:

"It is not the critic who counts, not the man who points out how the strong man stumbled, or where the doer of deeds could have done them better. The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena; whose face is marred with dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs and comes short again and again; who knows the great enthusiams; the great devotions, and spends himself in a worthy cause; who, at best, knows in the end triumph of high achievement; and who, at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who know neither victory nor defeat."

 
I do not want to come of pompus in any way.  But this is how it is in the real world.  People who do, and those cold and timid souls who know neither victory or defeat.

Alright, I got some new comic books, so I thought I would post a new entry.

Green Lantern #8
This one kind of sucked, but hey, all comic books can't be all exciting all at the same time.  If that were so then have a huge series like DC's Infinite Crisis and Marvels Civil War would suck.  Anyway, Hal and Arrow are stuck inside that plant that Mongol put on them.  This plant is a parasite and lives off your body, and makes your whatever dreams come true so you won't fight it.  Fortunately for them, they were both on one plant, and I guess one plant can only make one world at a time.  So the plant went off of Hal's dream and stuck Arrows in there and he got only what Hal thought Arrow would dream of, and that is a good family.  Which isnt true, Green Arrow is a crappy father.  Arrow realized this and started yelling and they both woke up and got away from the plant.  Mongols sister shows up and they all start fight, then Hal uses Mongol's teleporter to transport them back to where they came from.  Mongol then kills his sister because he thinks, "family is a weakness."  Arrow reminds Hal of what is important to him and then Hal goes to his nephews birthday party and gets him a football, yay.

Green Lantern Corps Recharge #4-5
Slighty better then Green Lantern.  A couple of rookie green lanterns are trapped in the Vega system after being sucked into a black hole.  Then Kyle Rayner, Guy Gardner, Kilowog, and Natu go to rescue them.  They end up in a ship of these spider creatures who are creating a web like network of black holes around the universe in order to 1: kill people they dont like and 2: get energy from those collapsed suns.  For those of you who know nothing about physics, black holes are indeed collapsed suns.  Their density is so great not even light can escape their gravity.  When the rookies discover the evil spider people's plan, they get discovered.  Then Kilowog hears the sirens and decides to start throwing down.  They all meet up and their ring energy is pretty low, except Natu because she isnt fighting, and they decide they need to retreat.  Natu blasts them off with the power in her ring and they soon find themselves stop by the spider people who are harnessing the dreaded yellow power.  The brains on Oa call a code zero, which means there is a direct attack on Oa.  The spider people are collapsing Oa's star and using it to send in troops to attack Oa.  What will happen next?

Ultimate Extinction #2
Nick Fury and Reed Richards are having a meeting and trying to decide what to do about Galactus.  Fury wants Reed to move into the Triskelion, and Reed does not want to, they fight and then the plot moves on.  They get a reading from these indivdual units of machine intelligence out close to Jupiter.  It is about one hundred thousand miles long and about seven days from Earth.  Captain America is having a nervous breakdown because his faith in God is shaken along with his inability to do anything.  When he was briefed about Galactus, he asked the specialist is he believed in God, and the specialist laughed at him.  He said what kind of God would create such a horrible creature as Galactus.  Cap wanted to say to him, "there's enough of us to to take on evil and prove we are worthy of God's pride."  But then he says, "But there aren't enough of us, are there?  It's an evil too big for me to hit.  I never thought there'd be such a thing."  Dont worry Cap, I believe in God!  He walks away sulkingly and states, "yesturday I was a super-solder, today I don't even know If I still believe in God."  Poor Cap, but anway we cut back to the detective chick, whose name is Misty Knight, with a cool bionic arm.  That silver angel guy attacks her with lightning bolts in her office.  She trys to kill him, she shoots him, throws him out the window, and explodes a fire exstinguisher on his head.  But he keeps coming back.  Stay tuned for the next comics

I'm listening to that emo band, fall out boy - sugar we're going down.  I really enjoy not singing the words and just making the sounds.  "wuh gowing duh duh lee a wee a oo round, sugah woo gowing du singing"  boy thats fun.  anyways, more comics.

Sentinel 3 of 5 of whatever number it is
This is a story about a kid who finds an old sentinel in his backyard, cool.  It is set in the future, so the sentinel has been there for a bit.  Well anyway, this comic starts about with Juston and the sentinel on the ground after being blown out of the sky by a new sentinel.  A short and sweet fight ensues and the old sentinel wins.  Some other things that are going on.  Juston's dad is looking for Juston,  the senator that sent the new sentinel to take out the old sentinel before it starts anymore trouble decides to take out Juston as well, and Juston's friends make a prank call to Juston's fake girlfriend.  Thats about it.

Infinite Crisis #4
Pretty neat episode, the bad guys drop the some radioactive dude on Gotham city.  Batman seeks Nightwing's help because no one likes Batman but they like Nightwing and Nightwing likes Batman so he will help him out....what?  Well read the comic and find out.  Superboy picks a fight with Conner Kent and Conner calls the Teen Titans, who brings along the Doom Patrol and the Justice Society.  After that it pans to some dude in the morgue, and apparently the Spectre unwillingly inhabits his body and in turn ressurects him just like Hal Jordan, interesting no?  I think so.  After that it pans back to the Superboy fight, and Superboy starts killing people and tearing off limbs!  Shocking, I know.  He gets all upset and keeps saying they are making him do this.  This is were Old Flash, Flash, and Kid Flash grab him and keep running really fast.  Old Flash's tendons start to rip so he has to back out, and Flash gets zapped back to his family who joins him (I dont understand either), and it just leave Kid Flash to deal with Superboy.  Well, Superboy starts mocking Kid Flash, so Kid Flash starts laying it on him.  Then Flash shows up and grabs Superboy along with two other guys who grab him, and pull him into the Speed Force, thus destroying it.  No more Flashs?  But who will spit out the witty comments during inappropriate times for comic relief?  Who knows, maybe Batman, but anyway Little Luthor is calling the Omacs to his super universe changer or whatever it is.  He makes Dark Adam call Shazam and the lightning strikes activating it.  The @%$& has hit the fan now, Luthor is chaning the universe.  Bit holes open up, and people disappearing.  What in the world, or universe, is going on here you ask?  Well, tune in next month to see what the universe has turned into.  (Apparently back to Earth 2, because there is the Daily Star at the end!)

Things arent well, I failed my first nursing exam...this is bad.  The class average is 66.2%, and I have a 66%.  I am praying she will grade on a curve so I might get a C.  I just need to start cutting out things in my life.  Like so much Crusade stuff, and work, and social stuff, and comics.  Oh, by the way, here are my reviews.

Wolverine #'s 35,36,37 "Origins and Endings
Well, you know what has hit the fan, Wolverine has his memories back, and he is POed.  When he finally gets what he has been searching for (ever it seems like) years he now only has more questions.  We aren't aware of the questions yet, but he went to Japan and cut off Silver Samurai's Arm (yeah crazy I know) to get answers from him, which the writers chose not to share with us.  He ends up back in Cananda in the Weapon X lab.  It mentions how he was turned into a weapon "twice" and shows faint memories of him that don't make sense to me yet.  Guess I have to wait until next issue.

New Avengers #15
Lame issue, had to read stupid Ms. Marvel's blog about how the New Avengers came out to the public, and the ending leads us to believe Spider-Woman is a triple agent or whatever, I dont care, LAME.

Green Lantern #7
Green Lantern is one of those comics I always forget whats going on, so it always is nice to see it in my pool at Castle and say, "hey sweet, I forgot I get this comic."  Well anyway, Green Lantern is hanging out with Green Arrow in the ghost city that is Coast City.  Mongul's son shows up and starts killing people and planting an odd plant that takes attaches to your body and leads you to believe what your heart desires.  Well, they fight for awhile and Green Lantern and Green Arrow get caught in one...lame.  I guess you have to take the good with the bad sometimes.

The Amazing Spider-Man #528
Finally, the end of the "short" series of Evolve or Die.  Spider-Man has indeed evolved and in this issue he shows off his new powers to save some people in a collapsed apartment building.  The new powers that were shown are, night vision, the ability to feel the tiniest vibrations in his web, the ability to stick things anywhere on his body (like he sticks to walls with his hands), and the ability to feel his environment with the hairs on his arms.  Pretty cool Spidey, oh yea, almost forgot he keeps on seeing this crazy spider totemix god.  This should be interesting to see what Spidey does with the new duds Tony Stark is whipping up for him, did I mention that they looked gold?  Whoa, a golden Spidey, wonders will never cease.
