6/15/06 The Maneuvers of the Heart
"On the mountain heights of Israel I will plant it; it will produce branches and bear fruit and become a splendid cedar." Ezekiel 17:23
God means what He says and will do all He has promised.
He would plant His own sprig in the right place at right time, and no foreign power- no earthly power, for that matter- would be required to accomplish it. The promised salvation would come about entirely through the zeal of the Lord and the power of His hand.
When God is ready for His people to be delivered, He will accomplish the deliverance. They don't need to achieve it by scheming and strategizing....
When God wants to accomplish anything, He'll do it in truth and power. No manipulation on our part is needed.
Even when we know that intellectually, we try to stack the deck in our favor. We rely on our maneuvers- some of them so subtle we don't even know we're doing them- to help God out. We forget that our role is to be absolutely obedient to the steps He leads us to take.
It isn't that we play no role, clearly God expects us to be people of action, the question is what we trust.
Like Israel, do we grow impatient for God's deliverance and turn to "Egypt"?
The sprig that God planted is still growing roots and spreading its massive branches. The kingdom of the Messiah is God's work. Trust Him to plant it in you..
