Work was entertaining today.
I teach a group of high schoolers at this private academy/institution in the corner of Langley -- my class constitutes of three girls and three boys.
Today, one of my boys raised his hand in the middle of class, while we were doing individual work, and asked to go to the bathroom. No harm in that, so I gave him permission.
Fifteen-ish minutes pass by, and no sign of him. I started to wonder if he was taking a dump in the bathroom or something. Then I glanced outside the window, and lo and behold, he's walking towards our building from afar. I don't even know how he managed to get out of the building in the middle of class time without our receptionist seeing him. But he managed it, and I was watching him trod his way back to class.
When he walked back into the room, I said, "Good walk?"
He looked a bit bewildered, as if he was wondering how I knew. "Yeah," he answered.
"So... the bathroom is all the way out there, huh?" I asked.
"Yeah," was all he said as he walked back to his seat.
I don't think I've ever met a student who ditched class, only to return fifteen minutes later.
The other week, also, I got to throw a pen cap at one of the boys (the same boy, in fact) because he was sleeping. Perhaps, next time, I will give him a wet willy, though that may be quite unprofessional.
