And she brought home pictures!!
So Mom got home last night around 8:00; the same time I was getting out of work. She waited for me to get home before she looked through all the pictures :) It was great, I'm not going to go into a whole lot of detail about her trip, but it was great. They had many opportunities to venture the country this trip. They got to ride horses up a 7 mile high mountain to the top of the famous Citadel, and have guided tour of the castels. They were able to drive to the border of Haiti and I think the city was called wanna-me in the Dominican and they got to see the ocean surrounded by mountains.

One of the castels at the Citadel
The team that went on this trip was smaller than usual I think there was only about 6 people, but working with His Hands For Haiti child sponosorship program they processed a record number of children last trip 671 kids this trip 673 kids :)!
And guess what not only am I a Godmother, but in about 7 months Mom will be too! Our friend Jackson's sister is pregnant and when the baby is born she wants Mom to be it's Godmother :)

There's Mom's God baby inside that belly right there ^
Now as for my God-baby his name is really Djorkens lol I was close ;) over the phone, it sounded like Djordens. He is a little porker which is a good thing, especially in Haiti.

Djorkens :) He looks like his mommy!
There was a little girl that I met on my last trip to Haiti in Novemember...her name is Rose. She really needs our prayers. I believe she is eight years old. When I met her she looked like she was 7 months pregnant! Her stomach was severly swollen. Upon further questioning and prying we found out that she was born with a genital deformity in which she has no anus, and elimantes feces through her vagina. It was a very sad situation, doctors can't believe she has lived this long the way she is. Her intestines would frequently become blocked. Other children made fun of her and she's very self concious and embarrassed of her condition. HHFH and out team came up with the money to allow her to have reconstructive surgery. On this recent trip in April Mom and the team went to see her in the hospital. She is hooked up to an IV, and confined to a bed. She has a very high fever and has a bad infection; nobody knows if she will live :(

I'm asking everybody to please pray for this sweet little girl named Rose
There are so many people and children in Haiti that need our prayers many like rose that need surgery, thousands that are hungry, orphans, abandoned children, mothers and fathers that work all day making about $1 for all their hard work and trying to feed all of their children. Meanwhile in the past two weeks the prices of rice and beans has gone up from $160 Haitian Dollars(HD) to $260HD (for a 50lb bag), and nobody can even afford to EAT!
Haiti needs our prayers.
My sweet little Pamica doesn't look like she is doing well.

Pamica last time I saw her

Pamica now :(
From what we can tell it seems their family can no longer afford their home and they had to move in with another family. Mom went to their old house and it was vacant and borded up. I'm sure like all the other families that are struggling the rise in prices of food and lack of work is having a huge impact. I don't know what I'm going to do, but I'm going to try and contact the family and see how I can help. I may not be able to feed every child in Haiti, but I know I can make a small difference by feeding this family.
Haiti seems to be pulling on my heart harder and harder everyday! I'm staying open and trying to listen and figure out how I am supposed to help. As soon as I graduate from midwifery school I hope to move to Haiti as a missionary midwife. The women need knowledge they need to be taught about nutrition and how to care for themselves prenataly and postpartum. But how can they eat proper if they can't even afford a cup of rice?
I don't think that most people realize that they CAN help. It doesn't take a special person, a rich person, or a missionary to help. Anyone can help Haiti! You don't even have to commit to monthly donations, but the few extra dollars or change in your pocket could mean one meal for a child in Haiti. Find ways to get involved, it really is that simple.
I just wish people realized how desperate Haiti really is...don't you see it?
