| It's been months since I posted... Sorry that I haven't posted in a long time. Life is really busy. Emma is growing like crazy and is already sitting up by herself. She probably would be crawling soon, except that she hates being on her tummy, so she won't lay there long enough to learn how to crawl! Emma got to have her first Easter egg hunt after our Easter worship service. Here is a picture of our family:
Then, the next week she got to go on her first picnic at a park in Cedartown.
Finally, her Nana McCammon got her an interesting headband, and she looks so cute in it!

| On Monday, John Kerry made a bit of an "oops"... Here is the story: Kerry touched off a political firestorm on Monday at a campaign appearance in California at which he told students at Pasadena City College that if they make the most of their educations, "you study hard, you do your homework and you make an effort to be smart, you can do well. "And if you don't, you get stuck in Iraq," he said. Now, I'm no Kerry fan, but I understand that he MIGHT have meant something else, but still, it was a terrible thing to say. Fortunately for us, however, he still said it, and some troops that are in Iraq have an incredibly funny sense of humor. The photo below shows us just how funny they are:
Seems to me, if they are smart enough to be that funny, then they are a whole lot smarter than some of the "educated" people in our country.
| Last night, Emma did not want to go to sleep at bedtime, so I had the opportunity to rock her and hold her for a little while. I was singing to her and she stopped crying and looked up at me, just watching me sing. After a while, she started to drift off to sleep, and was smiling and laughing a little bit in her sleep. I thought that she was asleep, so I stopped singing. She opened her eyes, looked up at me, and then made three sounds like she was trying to sing, like she was telling me to keep singing. I started singing again, then she went back to sleep. Unfortunately, she only stayed asleep for about five minutes, then started screaming, so it was Courtney's time to feed her! Then she finally went to sleep. | | |
| This past weekend was a big party for Emma. We had the annual Fall Family Festival at our church, and Emma got to go dressed as a pumpkin. Here are the pictures:
Then, Papa and Mellie (my parents) came to visit for the night. Here's a picture of Mellie holding Emma:
Finally, on Sunday Emma went to church for the first time. She came to our Sunday school class and then came to church, and Courtney only had to take her out to feed her once during church! She slept through most of it, which make me feel just great since I am the preacher! Here are her first Sunday pictures:
And finally, a cute picture of her in her carrier getting ready to go to church:
I think she looks a little like an Amish baby in that bonnet, but Courtney said I'm wrong about that. On a different note, on Wednesday nights during Bible study we have started working throught the book of Hebrews. We just finished chapter one, and I have been so amazed at how the author of Hebrews, from the very beginning of the letter, lays out his argument that Jesus is God and is unlike any other person or angel or any being in heaven or earth. I have so enjoyed studying for this Bible study, and I appreciate the way in which the author of Hebrews shows his readers that the Old Testament points to Christ throughout all of the history, prophecy, and wisdom literature. If you haven't read through Hebrews recently, I highly recommend it!
