New website is up and running! Entries have even been made! It's still a little spare looking, but with the long weekend the new blog should be bursting at the seams in no time.

In case anyone is wondering, I will still be active on xanga. Gots to keep in touch with my peeps! Of course, it won't be to the same degree as it has been, but don't worry! I'll still be reading your posts and commenting! Because I love you. That's why.

As for new entries here, I'm sorry but www.yarnabuse.com is going to be hogging them all.

See you later!

Thursday, October 06, 2005

Ok, I have a secret to spill.

Come close. Closer.

I have a website. A real one! Well, kind of. If you type in www.yarnabuse.com you will be directed to my new squarespace blog. But how cool! My own domain name!

Ok, it's a secret because I'm not really done making it pretty and adding all the doodads I want on it. It's kind of dusty and half ass right now. But hey! It's mine!

Tuesday, October 04, 2005

Hi y'all. Thank you for the well wishes. I am feeling a bit better today. I am at work, at any rate (as I was yesterday, but that was a mistake. I really should have exfoliated my nose. Or used the tissues with lotion. Um, anyway.). Now I just have a crappy ass cough and a runny nose and every little movement tires me out. Seriously, I broke into a sweat during the short walk between my desk and the scanner.

I thought of a name for my Future Yarn Store. Wanna hear it? Ok.

Skeinky Hos.

I swear, I should be a business name consultant or something.

Saturday, October 01, 2005

Ugggh, I'm so sick. I left work early yesterday and slept for about 3 hours. Then I got up, ate, and went back to bed only to toss and turn until I finally decided to overdose on my special cocktail of Nyquil, Aleve and Unisom.

I just woke up maybe ten minutes ago. The sinus pressure is gone, but I took some Dayquil anyway. I have a messy cough now, and thick thick snots being blown out of my nose every other minute. Seriously, it looks like I dislodged some alien eggs from my nasal cavity. I coughed so hard my back hurts now.

And of course this goes down on a GORGEOUS Autumn Saturday, the Saturday that Crafty Bastards was in town. The Crafty Bastards I have been looking foward to for months.

I guess you could say I woke up on the wrong side of the sickbed today.

:(

Friday, September 30, 2005

Conversations with co-workers

Kimberly - DCA says: i swear, one of these days you are going to find me mainlining nyquil

Kimberly - DCA says: that shit is the bomb

Asya - DCA says: oooh, can I then get you on that show intervention?

It's so much fun when you can joke about hardcore cold medicine abuse, and you have a buddy that goes with the flow.

Thursday, September 29, 2005

Excellent, the last two books have arrived. And the author of Weekend Knitting is indeed Melanie Falek.

So many projects! So much yarn to buy! So little a) money to buy it with, and b) space to store it.

Well, I guess my to do queue is full up for quite a while. This Weekend Knitting especially has a lot of projects I would like to tackle, and don't even get me started on Loop-D-Loop and all the things I want to make from it.

There are a few more books on knitting I would like to purchase, but I think for now my knitting library is satisfactory. My Mastercard agrees with me. You know why it's called a Mastercard? Because I am it's SLAVE.

So...I'm going to go spread the books on the floor and roll around on them for a while. Bya!

Wednesday, September 28, 2005

I am so excited! Today I received two (out of four) knitting books I had ordered on Amazon. These are books I have wanted since I started knitting and last week I finally just said, "bugger it, no one is going to buy them for me and look! Free shipping! Thank you, Enabler, I mean, Amazon!"

First up: Confessions of a Knitting Heretic by Annie Modesitt. I read a little bit at lunch and so far it is very empowering, liberating and legitimizing.

Second book: Last Minute Knitted Gifts by Joelle Hoverson. I've been dying to make myself an Hourglass Sweater (I'm going to use the Elsepeth Lavold Silky Wool from my stash) and now I have the pattern! And the errata I've printed from the website. Bonus: Pretty pictures.

Now I have two more books coming to me, Loop-D-Loop by Teva Durham and Weekend Knitting by I-forget-and-am-too-lazy-to-look-up-but-hell-you-know-what-I'm-talking-about.

The best part (besides free shipping) is that these books I got today weren't supposed to arrive until October 11th, so yay early! And I bought them at substantial savings. Well, substantial compared to Barnes and Noble, where the "Fuck it, I gots to buy these" urge took over. I'm so proud, had I succumbed to instant gratification I would have ended up spending twice as much. Go me.

Also, shoe update: I went to my friend TJ, TJMaxx that is, and bought a pair of loafers identical to the ones I've been wearing this year. No comment on hunting the mighty and elusive Good Brassiere.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

This is either brilliant or I'm insane. Actually, I'm insane, but for "fans" of fanfic this is pure comedy gold. It's so bad, it's good. Lara, I am looking at you here.

Tuesday, September 27, 2005

I am counting the minutes until I can leave.

I need a new pair of shoes. I actually contemplated shoe...smithery? Then I scrapped that idea as too much work. Seriously, though, it's hard to find shoes I like. Everywhere I go it's like, "You are a woman, thus all work appropriate shoes for you shall have high heels. Do NOT look at those flats! See? We have sabotaged your plans by making all comfortable shoes fugly. HA. HA. HA."

Ugh, I just complained about shoe shopping. Tune in the next time I'm bored at work and I will fill your ears (eyes?) with my ululations on the subject of Bra Hunting.

Monday, September 26, 2005

Cherie is a turtleneck.
