Okay, I've been putting it off for months, but I'm officially making the switch to my other Xanga.  After rereading entries on this one from the past year, I realized that there isn't anything that I post, really, that I mind having other people read.  All the really personal stuff just gets privatized or go straight into a (handwritten) journal anyway.  I know that it's annoying that I keep switching sites, but this will be the last time, as I've given up on the illusion of weblogue privacy, which is a bit of a contradiction in itself if you think about it.  Instead, I've changed my feelings toward the whole thing.  I could just cut the other one loose, I suppose, but something's telling me to switch instead, so here goes.

Just like Tom Sawyer

Would you know it, I was running late and suddenly had a craving for the above...
"Two friends were walking on a riverbank.  Suddenly, a child swept downstream in the current.  One of the friends jumped in the river and rescued the child.  Then the two friends resumed their stroll.  Suddenly, another child appeared in the water.  The rescuer jumped in and again pulled the victim to safety.  Soon, a third drowning child swept by.  The still-dry friend began to trot up the riverbank.  The rescuer yelled, 'Hey, where are you going?'  The dry one replied, 'I'm going to get the bastard that's throwing them in.'"

Now viewing Exhibit A

Sometimes I wonder about the concept of one's personal bedroom.  From the teenage years onward, it serves as a sort of refuge from the pressures that lie outside, or even inside, the home.  Many cumulative hours are spent decorating, arranging, and, if you're obsessive like I am, organizing.  Posters, pictures, musical tastes - all are intended to be forms of self-expression, but if the room is indeed a haven from outside forces, then to whom are we expressing ourselves?  If no one else, then are we expressing the parts that we accept, or does even the unacceptable become acceptable because we expect no one else to see and evaluate?  Is it simply self-validation, e.g. "You are interesting/neat/musical/artistic/emo/childlike"?

That being said, the MTV show "Room Raiders" was a bit of privacy-violating television genius, though the contestants are probably all catering to the public instead of their own interest anyway.  So much for self-dignity.
While we're asking random questions, why is it that girls always shed so much?  It seems like such a waste of protein and pigment, though I suppose that the melatonin precursors have to go somewhere, or we'll all start experiencing the effects of false neurotransmitters from fake-sugar-breakdown...(Just say "no" to diet!)

My favorite time of day...

I miss my roof at 808.  Holding the window screen while taking the picture was stressful.
