WE DID IT!

Mike and I completed our first 1/2 marathon!

We finished in 2:41.  I know for sure I could do it in at least 1/2 hr less but at mile 5 my knee gave out!  I have never had knee problems in my life.

Under training

I quit running after I ran 9 miles THREE WEEKS AGO.  This was bad for me.  I ran 7 miles one weekend, 8 the next then 9 then quit.  This is NOT good!  You REALLY need to gradually work up to at least a good 10 miles before completing a 1/2.  This I am certain of!

Carbonation

I am sure giving up carbonation for three weeks helped me!  My breathing was great, I never felt exhausted or unable to catch my breath.  Was it because of no carbonation or was it because I drank more water?  I don't know but it worked!

Things I think hurt my knee...

1.  Not properly training for the miles on my body
2.  I need new shoes
3.  Not stretching and warming up prior to race
4.  The slant of the roads didn't help, I'm sure

Other than my knee

I felt GREAT!  No exhaustion, No blisters, No pain or soreness anywhere but my left knee.

My Plan

I will take a week or so off then begin my triathlon training.  I will do the complete training after the triathlon for my next 1/2 marathon!  I plan to finish Chicago 1/2 marathon in 2:10!

Indy Race

What a great race!  Incredible!  So many people out there cheering us on!  The weather was beautiful, running the Indy Race Track was so exciting!  I have so much more to say but I will have to add more later since I need to go visit with my family!

CoffeeBreak.. GREAT JOB!  I checked your time and see you beat your goal! LESS than 2 hours! woo hoo!! WAY TO GO!!

more later!
