Oops

I just received an email from the friend I knit the shawl for. She is on a trip! She did not get the shawl to me. So now I might not have a shawl to enter in the fair. At least fair entries are only $2.00. there is the chance that I could finish the Slow bee 1 shawl.

What are the odds? I  just started clue #2. Clues have been released through 9. I am thinking of not making it as large. I think her patterns tend to be HUGE.

Still no word on the house...Now I am told we should know something tomorrow. We have plans on Sunday to go look at more homes. Some we had liked from before are back on the market.

Ds has misplaced the digital converter changer. The tv will not work without it. Well let's say its stuck on a channel that sometimes has shows they are not allowed to watch. The other oops is that the changer belongs to the cable company. BOYS

Bookmarks

I have discovered the joys of knitting bookmarks. A nice quick fun easy project to knit. The first one is Gull Wings. It is a free pattern. I used DMC pearl cotton #5 in color #796 with size 1 needles. I knit dh a pair of socks using that pattern. It is very easy to memorize.

When I finished knitting it measured about 3-4 inches. I was able to blockt to 6 1/2 by 2 3/4 inches. I used liquid fabric starch to stiffen it. I made a solution of 1 tablespoon of starch to 1/4 plus 1 tablespoon of water. I used for the 4 bookmarks. There was starch leftover. Next time, I will make a smaller batch.

The next bookmark is called Entrelac. The pattern is for sale on ravelry. It is by Sunny. I do not know what crochet cotton I used. I had bought it in Indiana thinking is was finer thread but it should be a size 5. This one measures 2 1/4 by 7 3/4.

These crosses were crocheted out of size 10 with a size 7 or 8 needle. It is a Workbasket pattern. I used to subscribe to their monthly pattern club. These crochet very quickly. These measured 3 by 4.  I find that when I am scanning projects it helps to cover the project with a cloth. I usually use cloth napkins.

June mid month dishcloth

I am finally getting around to posting the photo of the finished June mid-month cloth. I changed the pattern a bit to make the border a seed stitch border instead of garter. This is called Lacey Waterfalls.

It does not look like we will get the house. Apparently, the bank sales manager is overworked and is notorious for quickly looking at the contract, giving a yes. When she goes to sign the contract, reads it more carefully then changes her mind. We resubmitted our offer but over the long weekend another one came in.

I am not too disappointed as I was not head over heels in love with the house. What does upset me is that we put a lock on our rate and now interest rates are going up. I just mailed our rent check with our notice. .we will put everything into storage and live in the pop up trailer for a month or so. I will definitely be packing a knitting bin. I will put some dish cloth cotton, the yarn for the Slow Bee 1 shawl, the yarn for the Casablanca shawl, the swift and ball winder. I don't think anything else needs to go into it.

I decided on my projects to enter into the fair. My friend will lend me the shawl I knit for her wedding. I will enter a dishcloth and the "doily"--Casablanca swatch. I ripped out the edging I had crocheted and made a new one. I decided against entering baked goods as I don't think I will have an oven and the entry times are quite early in the morning.

She left!

Dd#1 left today for her trip with Brio magazine. It's a missions trip to Lima, Peru. Her plane left at 6:10 a.m. We were up at 3 a.m. as dh decided to get her some snacks and lactose intolerance tablets. I got up at that time to find the luggage strap. We ate breakfast at 4:20 and left for the airport at 4:40 a.m.

A church friend told me about companion pass. you can ask the airline to give you one so you can go through security and go to the gate. The travel agent rolled her eyes when I told her,"This is my baby!" She said, she looks too big to be a baby...

I also mentioned that this was her first time away and I wanted to make sure she made it to the gate ok. We went through security. I set off the alarm as I had forgotten I had 2 camera batteries in my back pocket. We found a water fountain to fill her water bottle. I left once I saw her talking with 5 other girls going on the trip.

Dh took this photo. I continue to be amazed at how much we resemble each other. I was happy that I did not cry when I said my goodbyes. She will return on July 14th just in time for our homeschool President Fitness picnic.

Still no word on the house. The waiting is getting annoying.

no...the roller coaster is STUCK!

We received a verbal yes on the 17th but no signed purchase agreement. We ordered the inspection and still no signed agreement. Our realtor went on vacation (planned 9 months ago) with 32 relatives. Now it is the weekend and STILL no signed contract. <sigh> patience...waiting...wondering...what do we do with the landlord...

So I knit. I finished the swatch for the Casablanca shawl. I have it pressed and in a ziplock bag ready to take to the county fair. I need to decide what category: lace other or household item: doily less than 12 inches. decisions...decisions...decisions
I am using size 4 needles with Knit Picks Shadow in the Vineyard heather color. The beads are silver lined clear.

On Monday we went to the tide pools with dear friends from Virginia. I fell and went splash. I attempted to get up and splashed again. The docent came rushing over inquiring if I was fine. I was...embarrassed and wet. It was a chilly day. Afterwards, it was berry picking. The sun was shining there with a slight breeze which dried me out wonderfully. The aenomies were just lovely.

I also finally finished clue 1 for the slow bee faorese shawl. I am using Knit Picks Shadow in Jewels heather with size 4 needles. I am going to buy another needle as the ones I am knitting with are 24 inch circulars. I will use 2 circulars. I plan on placing each section on its own needle and divide the center panel in half. Dd#4 was the model. I decided that I did not want to knit in 2000 beads. I am knitting beads only on the first repeat for the right section and the last repeat for the left section. I am not beading the center portion either.
