Well, I am in China now.  Should have said this much earlier, but it's been crazy since we left.

Since I am a bit tired, this hopefully won't be too long.

Me and C left the airport around 6ish to get to the airport in Philly.  We said our good-byes to a few others.  We then went around, getting our tickets, and readied ourselves to board the plane (and me, my first).

The first flight was exactly as I thought it would be, just sitting in some seat for a few hours.  C was really kind and gave me a window seat so I could watch us launch off.  It was an interesting experience, being in "free float".  Very cool, and it was extremely interesting how the land seemed to be "divided" up into squares.  Very pretty though.

We then had about an hour or two of rest, where we each looked around.  I made the unwise decision to let C go first, but because she wnated to look around, but rather I needed to have some of my stuff checked by customs.  I was slightly pissed with the experience, as I got someone who handed me a sheet, then said "Alright, when you are finished, just press the button and I'll be back".  I pressed it five times, and over the course of ten minutes, he did not return.  I heard my flight being announced, as i ran over to the flight attendents to explain the situation, who told me to try one mmore time and be back within ten minutes.  THANKFULLY, someone else showed up and signed it, but ugh.  I am trying to figure out what God was teaching me in that situation.

Anyway, then came the second, ELEVEN hour flight.  Actually, first, the plane was awesome, as it was two stories of seats.  I have heard of such planes, but only seen the smaller ones.  So it was quite cool to not only see one, but be in one.  THis one also had a big TV in front, and they gave us ear phones to listen to music or whatever show was on.  They also had two people, one that spoke Japanese and the other, English, to tell us where we were going and such.  We also got three meals, which led to a slightly amusing situation.

Anyway, I watched one movie, but mostly worked on a book I am revising/co-authoring for roughly six or so hours.  After about the sixth hour, my mind was going nuts, mainly because of lack of sleep, and working on it so long.  So I rested my eyes for a bit (I don't sleep in cars, and as I figured, planes as well), all the while looking up every so often to see what was on, or, if a movie wa snot on, how close we were and how cold it was (and brrrr, it was cold at times!).

Fast forward to about five hours later as we finally land for the second flight, in which I am estatic, only to realize I had one more, three hour flight to go.  Nevertheless, we had an hour in between to look around (we were in Japan at the time), in which, while I didn't see that much, I did find that those in Japan really DO love Hello Kitty.

Anyway, we got on our third flight, which was a bit nicer as we each had our own TV. I watched Miss Congenality 2, save for the last five minutes, as I accidently clicked a button, having it restart from the beginning which I had to fast forward for about ten minutes though only to run out of time.  Anyway, we were given dinner on the plane, which was VERY amusing as four hours earlier, we just had breakfast.  Heh, I officially lost a day!

Anywho, we landed, with a beautiful sight to see.  Beijing at night is very beautiful, I tell ya!  We then went through about three different lines of customs, the last literally being a room full of people.  We then took a taxi home, in which I got my key, went to my room, and almost immediately slept.  Hey, on the bright side, no ill effects of jet lag.  I adjusted immediately.

THe next day was my first day there, as we had a worship service, kinda to get us in the swing of things.  I then went out with some people, getting my first chinese meal, consisting of rice, chicken, nuts, vegetables, and of course, tea!  It was pretty good, although since I didn't have breakfast or anything like that for a while, I would hav eeaten anything.

We then got back, before going out to the Wu Mart, in which I bought a few supplies.  That was also my first experience of "culture shock", in which they all spoke a totally different language and with me not even knowing Na Hao!  The Wu Mart itself was huge, with three floors, the first jewery, nail clippers, and other stuff, the second being food, and the third being clothing, book bags, and the like.

Oh well, it was an interesting experience, as I had to  almost totally rely on others, something I try to avoid greatly.  Perhaps it was the Lord's way of teaching me to deal with trusting people and learning that I can't do everything on my own.

Some more things I first noticed was:

=There are no forks at all in China.

-Milk is actually usually warm to start with.  You had to be careful in what you get.  Not that it's bad but yeah, you have to be careful.

-It's a lot harder not being able to use English than I thought.

There are some more but I am tired and hence I think I will leave with an amsuing thing I learned the last few days....a few new um, "creative" ways to say you need to use the restroom.

-I want to buy a penny.

-I am going to the loo.

-I am going to the post office.

-I am looking for my aunt (when asking for the restroom).

And my fave...

-I am looking for a man to talk about a horse.

So...this is it.  I have a little bit of packing to do (we finished orientation yesterday) and then I'm off to China!

Pray for safe arrival for me and Catherine, especially with all this craziness going on.

Love and blessings!

Another prayer request, again for me.  Actually two.

Basically I got an e-mail from my mother.  Basically, the person who was taking care of my forms missed one form.  We don't know what it is, and the guy who called would not tell my mother (despite her being my POWER OF ATTORNEY) anything other than I need it, or I would not go to China.

I got ahold of the guy who is placing me, who will be finding out what this is, tomorrow.  So PLEASE pray for me that we find out what it is, find out quickly, and are able to take care of it quickly and before I fly out to China.

This is extremely important so please pray for me on this.

The second prayer is patience.  Within two hours I'm pretty grouchy.  It started with getting back late so I missed my fave show, in fact, one of only two shows I watch (WWE Raw, yes, laugh, what can I say?).  So I tuned in to watch it, only to find that whoever was there last, left the room a mess.  Seats were literally thrown around and a bag of popcorn was all over the place, which I had to clean up.

That irriated me, and then I went to check my e-mail to find the aforementioned message which really put me off.  So I went to where I was to get a phone, except people were using it.  So I then went to my cell that had VERY limited minutes on it.  I literally lost contact with the person who was doing my placing.  Then, my calling card is royally messed up.  I made one call and lost half my minutes.  I made a second one and I am down to one minute./  Thankfully, someone gave ;me their cell so I was able to make the call.

However, that and other things has left me very annoyed and frustrated.  I guess the main reason is I thought I had finally gotten through all the hoops and was done with that.  Now, there is STILL a threat of me not going.

Please pray for me on these two things.

So, after lunch I went ahead and had a nice walk up to a grocery store in Akron.  It was really hot out, so I was out for about thirty minutes until I finally felt that that was enough and needed to get into a cooler place.  I checked out the grocery store while I was there, gawking a bit at the prices, although in truth, I was comparing em against Wal-Mart prices.

I didn't get anything and came home, then watched TV, namely some old shows, including the very last Full House.  It's strange how that show ended, it felt like it would and could go forever. However, I guess it's good that it did, because otherwise by now they probably would have killed off a main character or two.

I also watched Family Matters (the one where Carl is locked into a lie detector machine by Urkel) and Boy Meets World (where...

After that I had dinner, and then had the first, official meeting.  We made buttons, that had a picture on it, in which mine was a computer, although for me, my "story" is that I wanted to finally place my name "ahead of AOL".

We then had cookies and I went back as I played some cards, read a book and then went to bed.

I rested well and got up this morning.  I had breakfast, then went to the first meeting for the day.  In it, we talked a bit about the breakdown, costs, etc.  Here's an interesting fact.  MCC gained over 15 extra million last year.  One word reason as for why.  Can you guess?  That's right, Tsuami.  Amazing how much people helped, quite a blessing.  It reminds me going to my church and always seeing them wanting people to contribute.

Let's see, oh yes, before then was devotion, in which we heard "God knows you and loves you".  It's funny to know that, considering my feelings as of late, and what could be the case as I head off to China.  Pray for me that relations will grow fast.  As ironic as it is, I am as, if not more interested in the Chinese culture than the Chinese are of me.

Anyway, we then had pictures, then lunch, then some free time until I had my meeting with those who are placing me.  I set up some finicial stuff including insurance for some of my stuff, then had a "Get to know you" orientation where the entire staff introduced themselves.  Next, we had a walk through of MCC and then dinner, which brings me to now.

Whew.  Did you read all of that?  Good job, heh, far better than I would do.  Anyway...considering there are seveal people waiting to use this computer, blessings to your day.

First off, I hope that all my viewers are okay.  I am at orientation now and didn't hear about the explosion in London until the late morning.  Then I heard there were only two fatalies, but I checked to find there are now forty.  I definitely am a bit concerned as a friend of mine was going to/finishing up a semester abroad in London.  I definitely hoping God is watching out for her.

I hope to have a bit more of a enty later on as I have about five minutes before my next meeting.

Basically, Wednesday, I drove with another person for four hours up to Akron, PA.  We got un-packed (well, if you call it that) and then walked around looking at stuff, then had dinner.  I then foolishly took a nap that evening just a few hours until bed because my body had been going through withdrawals of sleep, and it didn't fall asleep until 3 that morning.  I suppose it's also because a lot was on my mind, seeing that I won't see my family for roughly two years, as well as my friends and just the life I more or less left behind.

The next day I got up, had a delicious breakfast (all their food is good here.), then walked around a bit until I realized that I was still far out of it and hence took a three hour "nap".  I then watched some TV, and had lunch.  I shall finish from here after me meetings.

Blessings all and again, I hope that God is watching out for all of you and if any of you have been affected with the explosions in London, that he brings you some sort of solitude.
