Due to being ridiculously bored in the office (thanks MTA), I present to you a small example of pop art (retro, modern, etc). I love it. It may be more illustration than art but its fun, hip, and stylish. Lichtenstein shows pop art doesn't have to be all fun, silly, and unreliable. Andy Warhol must have done a lot of drugs. Japanese pop art definitely has its own style (cute and happy). My visits to San Fran revives my interest of urban pop art (-check out www.futureprimitivesound.com -). However, I do not like pop art on t-shirts. I feel it cheapens it. Also, the person wearing it has to pull it off or else it'll look like the person is trying too hard. There are exceptions of course.

hello all~

It was really fun in last saturday's gig and I have to say, it was packed! who knew it would turn out so great. the owner and management were impressed, and thus~ good news, futoshi and I now have a weekly residency at R bar on saturdays from 9pm to 2am starting in november! It'll be fun. stop by if you guys happen to be free on saturdays.

I've been really feeling loungy music these days. Dmitri from Paris, Thievery Corporation, Fantastic Plastic Machine. There's tons out there but i've been particularly drawn to "fun" loungy music, not just "airy" and "jazzy". If anyone has no clue what i'm talking about, i guess you'll have to come out and listen to one of my sets someday. It'll only be from 9-10, maybe 11 if the crowd is feeling it.

So, this week is Halloween weekend. Haven't decided on a costume yet. I promised I wouldn't sell out and not dress up. I've been trying to get a few ideas. There's the popular disco king, pimp, or 20's gangster. Also popular is a bottle of ketchup? (white people~). I always thought something interactive is pretty cool. Like a traffic light. "Want a drink? <green light>" "Want to dance? <green light>" "Want to dance (from ugly girl)? <red light>" That would be hot. ugh, i should've prepared with more time. hmm, i suppose i'll have to decide on something soon. well, happy halloween everyone. i better stock up on candy since its so cheap. snickers, starbursts, reese's pieces, and skittles.

wow, i seem to be pretty creative, coming up with ideas when writing this. pictures will be posted next time.

Hello Everyone-

I've had a hard time deciding on a DJ name. I've been going with DJ Yhun. Not too fresh and too literal. Thus, i think i'm settling with DJ Flash. Based on one of my favorite albums (guess who's). plus, i can have a little lightning graphic at the end. It is NOT based on the comic book character. Finalists include DJ Dubnova, DJ Stereo Type A, & DJ l.c.m. (last century modern).

I can't believe i'm taking spinning seriously but its such a liberating experience to have. Ugh, if I only graduated with music I would totally be willing to go poor and suffer in the name of passion to write/produce songs. Thats it~ my kids are gonna be musicians no matter what. Scientist? Banker? Lawyer? Doctor? -- unacceptable. Too square. hmm....., yeah right~ (plus I know a lot of cool scientists, bankers, lawyers, and doctors anyway.)

It seems as if alot of the djs i've been meeting keep asking for my myspace site. Apparently its the musician's or music lover's blog site of choice. Whenever I ask if they've heard of xanga, its always the same - "whats that?" oh well. I may switch to myspace. Its not selling out. ok it is- but sometimes you have to play the game. a small sacrifice. I doubt i'll die a little inside. This will be my personal thing then.

Good news, Mr. Kobayashi (DJ Tosh) and I (DJ Flash) will spin at R-bar (www.r-musicbar.com) this Saturday, October 22 from 9pm-2am. Nice place to drink and have fun. Awesome speakers. This place is on citysearch as well. An ideal venue. This saturday will be a big one since we plan on laying down our best tracks. The owners and managers will be there to check us out.

Well, anyone that can, try and make it out. Always thrilled to have friends in the crowd.

I'd like to give a huge shout out to Grace for teaching me how to post a picture. Thanks Grace! I'll see you soon.

Everyone, I have a new phone. I am back into the world and ready to talk on the phone again. My back up plan - refreshing yahoo mail and hotmail as a means for correspondence was annoying and unfulfilling. Totally loser. yeah man~ (I wish someone would teach me how to upload pictures on this thing. I'd put a picture of me looking not-so-hot in front of the computer with a 'hot girl' as wallpaper, me with the geeky glasses, wacky hair, wearing something loser like a t-shirt saying something retarded like 'ladies man' or 'star trek' tucked in and a 'i'm cool' face giving 'the gun' with my hands. Pretty loser.)

More good news:  Cold, Windy, Raining, Wednesday -- and a whole bunch of people came out! Much love and respect goes out to those who toughed it out and made it. Thank you for showing your support. I hope one day I can make up for the appreciation you guys bring me.

From what I recall Loungy, Vocal, Funky, Hard, Techno, Deep, ending with Underworld's Two Month's Off (John Ciafone's Vocal Mix). I was all over the place and missed a beat (magnified by Terisa) but as always, it was fun.
Futoshi was great. A lot of fast beats.

I'd like to give a shout out to Donna and her cousin. Their big birthday bash is this Saturday. I don't know how to link pages on this thing but if you know her, say happy birthday.
