  • Time flies when you're having fun

One year ago today Khale and I got to meet the most beautiful little girl in the world.

Lillian is nolonger a baby - today is her very first birthday. It feels like she's grown up so fast but at the same time I feel like she's always been part of our lives. This past year has been the best of my life.

  • It's Already May?

I feel like ever since I became a mother that time has just been flying by. When we first moved out here I thought that three years sounded like such a long time and now we're almost done with the second year and when we get back in the Fall, we'll only have 9 months left in Cambridge. Leaving here for good is going to be such a bittersweet thing. On the good side, it'll be fabulous for Khale to be done w/ Harvard Law and we'll be excited about moving to Cheyenne permanently, setting up our first house and all the fun stuff that goes with that. However, it will also be kind of sad to leave the place where our lives as a married couple first began, leaving the city Lillian was born in, and leaving all of our friends. Luckily, a few of them will be moving out West as well so we'll still be near-ish so we'll still be able to see them every so often but still, it won't be the same. Oh well, I guess all good things must come to an end.

Speaking of things ending, Lily is in the process of abandoning her time as an infant. She's starting to be a little more daring with trying to stand on her own (and would be pretty good at it too if she didn't think it was so much fun to fall into my arms) so I know it's only a short time before she starts walking. Ah, they grow up so fast. Seriously. Also, Lil is HUGE. I know that because Khale and I are both tall that it shouldn't surprise us that our daughter is too but according to her pediatrician, she's like in the 100th percentile for height. She's as tall as some of my friend's babies who are nearing 2. Poor thing, all too soon people will start pestering her with questions about her playing basketball (btw, something only people in the South ever do...I have no idea why tall people are such a novelty there).

This time of year the Boston Garden and Common become gorgeous and have an abundance of blooming flowers and trees. We decided to take Lil there for a photo shoot the other day. We didn't get too many good shots b/c she was too distracted by all the dogs and people walking by.

Here she is merely trying her best to make weird faces at the people walking by us. She loves attention from strangers and has learned that this face produces the best results.

A Night with the Green Monster

    S6300766

Thursday night Khale and I got to go to a Red Sox game. Red Sox games are crazy, mostly b/c Sox fans get REALLY into it but it's so much fun that way. The game we went to was their third here in Boston so the fans were a little extra happy. Anyhow, it was a really fun night, Lily had a babysitter and little friend come over (apparently Lily cried when Ella's Dad came to get her but not when Mom left. Ouch!) so it was just the two of us...something that doesn't happen too often. :)

    S6300764

The Detroit Tigers got their bottoms whipped by the Sox.

    S6300769

Sadly we don't own any Sox gear...but we were feeling the team spirit nonetheless.

Lil has started wanting to walk. She's been having quite a few playdates the past couple of weeks and at each play date the babies tend to be a little older than her so they're already walking around. Lil's gotten envious and now she loves walking around while holding onto my fingers...or furniture.

    S6300784

This is my new favorite of Lil's shirts b/c it's not really all that babyish looking. I got her the cutest pair of shorts the other day at Target which she looks adorable in...she has the cutest little muscular legs (which she must get entirely from the Lenhart side because us Diff's don't have the most impressive legs).

Well that's about it from me for a little while, it's time to "buckle down" (as my mother always says) and get some school done since the year is rapidly coming to a close. *Hallelujah!!*  I'm contemplating taking a one week intensive Special Education (as part of the Education degree...not b/c I need a little extra help mentally) this Summer from LCCC but we'll see if that ends up happening. Either way, it'll be really nice to get a break from school for a little while and just focus on being a wife and Mommy.

    Liar

Yes, I lied. It hasn't even been a full two months and here I am back on Xanga. Turns out that Blogger isn't quite as much fun...but that could be entirely because I don't really know how to do everything on there. I'm a Mom now which means I'm getting older which means I don't have time to learn how to use all those new things the young whipper snappers out there are into. :) I'll still probably post on that one occasionally but I'm going back to my beloved Xanga for the majority of my blogging...at least for a little while.

Speaking of getting older, I'm 20 and I already have a wrinkle! What the heck?! This morning while I was going through my morning beautification ritual I noticed a jagged line across my forehead. I blame Lil; people always say that having children gives a person grey hair and wrinkles but I didn't think it would come so soon. Luckily we've been holding out on the greys.

Let's see, what else is new? Oh, I got my hair chopped off the other day. Yes, my ridiculously long hair has finally met its end. I just decided that the time had come where I needed to get a more adult looking head of hair. Here's what the end result was:

    S6300761

So I've decided that Khale needs to take the Summer a little easy and not overwork himself. Apparently the demands of Harvard Law have started taxing on his brilliant mind because he's begun to act a little strange. A few nights ago we were in bed doing our nightly talking, or should I say, my nightly talking and Khales nightly listening (for some reason I become very talkative as soon as my head hits the pillow...he however actually wants to sleep...crazy man). Anyhow, I said something to the effect of "You are a wonderful husband" to which a sleepy Khale responded, "You're wonderful too but she's alot better." Feeling slightly hurt because my husband nolonger thought I was the greatest woman in his life, I was quiet for a moment when he suddenly said..."wait! did you say something? B/c I think I just totally told the sheets that they were wonderful."   Yes, apparently my husband talks to bed linens now. Also, the other day I asked him to hand me Lil's blanket and I was promptly given my cell phone with a "Here it is!" I think that when you can nolonger tell the difference between the sheets or your wife talking and think that cell phones are soft, fuzzy, blankets, that you need a break from studying.

We went candlepin bowling this weekend with a group from the Harvard Law Couples Association. It was really fun! I highly suggest that you all visit New England sometime (preferably while we're still up here) and go candlepin bowling.

    candlepin bowling

The pins are much smaller and skinnier and the balls are close the size of a large softball. Turns out that I can actually play a pretty decent game of candlepin, normal tenpin is an entirely different story though. I won the first game and came in second on the next two. It was kind of cute because one of the couples we bowled with ended up getting either the same score or within one point of eachother every game.

I love you all and would love you even more if you followed suit and updated your Xangas. Reading them is one of my favorite things and I'm so darn cute when I'm happy. :)

  • It's time for the weekly photo update for the Grandmas. That, and we had to show off her new skills. Although after I took these pictures I realized that the poor child had some very baggy pants on; she's just a gangsta' baby.

    S6300639

She's started doing this as soon as she knows your about to take her picture...those darn flashes are just too bright.

    S6300645

She can pull herself up into a standing position now...she's so big.

    S6300648

Laughing at herself for being so clever

    S6300654

    It's a little friend!

    S6300656

You can kind of see the little nubbins of her new teeth in this shot.

  • February fun

Update: I added a few new videos of little miss Lillian in the videos section. Check them out.

Life has been going pretty darn well lately. Both Khale and I are having an easier semester which gives us quite a bit more time to spend with each other, thus making us happier all around. It's also given me more time to bake, making us pudgy all around. :)

Last weekend Khale and I went to the Harvard Law Couples Association annual Sir Thomas Moore dinner. He's a Harvard Law alumni who continually donates money to the couples association so they can put on a formal dinner because when he was a student there wasn't anything like that available for the Harvard Law couples. It was really fun. Although I will admit that I was a little distracted and kept checking my phone for missed calls because we had hired Lil's first non-grandparent babysitter to take care of her. Luckily, Lil loves strangers and she's actually better behaved when I'm not around so it all went really well. I just don't like leaving my little baby.

I also had a birthday, exactly one week ago. It was really nice and relaxing. Khale gave me a beautiful journey diamond necklace and photo album and then we went out for lunch at Ruby Tuesday. We also did a little shopping at the mall which was really fun. Then we came home, had dinner and watched Vanilla Sky. I've decided that next year we either need to have a bunch of our friends over or I need to make a much tinier cake. It took Khale and I quite a bit of determination to finish that thing off but we finally did the other day.

Wednesday my friend Chelsi, Lil and I had a little girls date. We went to lunch and then shopped/browsed around the mall for a while. It was really fun. Normally when we get together Khale and Eric are part of the fun but as much as we love our boys, it was nice to have some girl time. Chelsi is due to have a baby any day now so we've been getting excited about having little play dates with our babies. Lil loves Chelsi...she was the first person besides Khale and I to get a baby smooch from Lil.

Speaking of which, Lily is a little flirt. I took her to the grocery store yesterday and she would make faces at the guys walking around (I love how the only time you see a bunch of guys at the grocery store is on Valentines Day) until they looked at her and then she would break out her cutest smiles and baby noises. She especially loved a one-year old little boy we ran across; she pulled out all the stops, making the other baby completely unable to do anything but stare at her.

Our Valentines Day was pretty nice. Khale made me the most delicious dinner I've had in a long time which we ate entirely by candlelight. I'm a huge fan of it whenever he cooks because he always makes really yummy food.

So yep, that's what we've all been up to. I'll leave you with photos of Lil and for those of you who love Lost - I know who the Oceanic 6 are...you can ask me but after I tell you'll wish you hadn't.

    S6300621

Her newest way to express herself

    S6300617

Every so often she'll be sitting the floor and reading this book to herself when she'll start busting up laughing. For some reason it's just the most hilarious book in the apartment.

    S6300594

Climbing the Dad is another one of her favorites

    S6300637

Newest favorite thing to do - crawl under chairs. This one would be her most impressive one to date; her highchair.

  • the little miss claire

UPDATE: Last night Lil had the giggles and thought Khale's facial expression were hilarious...     Sorry, the first bit of it is kinda dark.

So this morning we decided to shoot some video footage for the Grandparents. Please disregard my strange sounding voice in the background...       You should've seen the one we did last night...the sound on that one would make for a pretty strong argument that I should be admitted into a mental hospital.

  • Life

Things have been going pretty well the past couple weeks.

    Traveling

Since my trip to Florida was so short, I had decided that I needed to take another trip to TN to spend a little more time with my family. So after a great deal of conspiring, Lil and I flew into Nashville Thursday evening, were picked up by John and Mel, and then drove to the Diff casa to surprise my family. Momma Jane and Pops had just fallen asleep by the time we got there so I scared them a bit by knocking on their door at 1:30 in the morning but after their initial shock, I think they liked it. :) Both Miss Lil and I had such a wonderful time with everyone even though we really missed Khale (he had decided to stay behind to study for his final exam). That was the first time either Lil or I have spent more than a day away from Khale so by the end of the weekend I was getting pretty excited about seeing him again.

Caitlin, Erica, and I went to Davids Bridal to do some wedding shopping Sunday (for those of you who don't know, Caitlin will be getting married in June). My parents volunteered to watch Lil so I got to spend some time alone with the girls for the first time since my Bachelorette party. We had so much fun. Although I still feel really bad about my horrible planning skills and how they got in the way of Bethland and Chelsey having lunch w/ us. Next time I'll leave the planning up to someone else.

I've decided that I hate US Airways, as far as airlines go. Every single time I fly with them my flight gets delayed. I almost didn't make it to Nashville Thursday night b/c due to delays with my first flight I missed my second flight. I was fifth on the Standby list for the last flight out for the night and thankfully a couple decided to volunteer their seats which gave Lil and I the last available seat on the plane. It did turn out to be a first class seat which was pretty sweet. I was slightly tempted to order some wine b/c the whole thing had made me a little stressed (spending the night in an airport with an 8 month-old baby is not my idea of fun) but I didn't...even though first class apparently gets a drink for free. Anyhow. On my return flight from Charlotte to Boston I had yet another delay which added to my annoyance with US Airways. From now on I am refusing to fly with them...unless the temptation of their ridiculously low fares sucks me in again. JetBlue, Frontier and Southwest are by far my favorites. Yes, I've been flying so much these days that I have developed favorites.

    The Pursuit of Higher Education

My third semester at BHCC officially began yesterday. My painting class is the only one I'm taking on campus b/c I was able to take it in the evening one day a week. Last night we had our first class and it was pretty fun b/c we just did a few things to introduce ourselves, played a game to engage our minds to think about art in other ways than we normally do, and went over the class overview. I think it's going to be a really fun class to take. I'm sure it'll be a little challenging b/c I have no experience painting, but hey, sometimes it's nice to be challenged.

Khale finished his final exam yesterday morning for his winter class, Foreign Relations Law, so he has a few days off before his Spring semester starts. He also just got his grades back from the Fall semester and he's satisfied with how they turned out. I'm very proud of him. Harvard Law isn't easy but he's been doing great with everything and doesn't ever seem to be stressed by any of it. He's pretty much brilliant.

    Harvard Clubs

This year I've been getting a little more involved with both the Harvard Law Couples Association and the Harvard Law Women's Club (basically a club for all wives/girlfriends of the Law students...although we do have one female law student!). Both of those are really fun. I recently joined the planning committee for HLCA. It's really nice to be closer to campus this school year as it has afforded us the ability to do more stuff and spend more time with people.

Anyhow. That's pretty much what I've been up to. Oh, also, I just wanted to come out and fully endorse Mitt Romney for President. He's been doing great so far and I can only hope that Floridians show as much sense as the people of Michigan, Nevada, and Wyoming - my future home state. I highly suggest you go research Romney and while you're doing so, read this cute article:  http://www.mittromney.com/Learn-About-Mitt/Photo-Album/The-Romney-Family/Mittxs_Tribute_to_Ann

  • A fabulous start to 2008...

My baby is all grown up. Okay, so not really but she is transforming from an infant to a toddler. She's started crawling around, sitting up by herself, and just outgrew her infant carseat. Call me crazy but I actually got a little sad as I was installing her "big girl" carseat b/c she's just been growing up a little too fast...but I hear all kids do that. Luckily her newfound baby maturity has made her all the more fun to play with. Only now I'm her BFF and as such the little princess demands that I do nothing but play with her all day long. Spoiled? Yes, probably. But hey, what else are first born children for?

School starts the 22nd. My course load is going to be so very easy, not to mention fun! I'll be taking: Music Appreciation, Painting, and US History. Should be quite a bit easier than last semester which is good, b/c as mentioned above, Lil has her playtime demands.

John and Mel's wedding was beautiful. The new Mr. and Mrs. Diff are one smokin' hot couple...that much good hair in one family is pretty "fierce," as Tyra Banks would say. Anyhow, I'm not a fan of quick little weekend visits with people but it was really nice to get to see all my family and extended family. Momma Jane requested that I post a few pictures on here so she can see them so here they are:

  • I'm really just a southern girl at heart. However, I'm currently living in Cambridge, MA. My wonderful husband and the love of my life, Khale, and I were married August 22nd, 2006. We had a beautiful baby girl, Lillian, on May 19th. I love to dance, sew, cook and learn about interior design. I'm currently a student at Bunker Hill, studying towards and Education degree. If you want to know anything else, just read the blog. :)
