| so, why doesnt anyone comment on xanga anymore. i admit, i am guilty too, but nobody uses it anymore. whats up with this? ******************************************************************************** anyway, so i was working today with this guy, jeff, and he is like in his 40's. he is a really nice guy, he's always really positive and has a good outlook on a lot of things. he's very helpful and i enjoy working with him all the time. but heres the thing. i've always had a feeling that he wasn't a christian. idk, why, i just did. but today we were talking about a bunch of things and stuff and i eventually asked him his view on religion. and he asked me his view on religion or spirituality, so i said both. this was basically his response: spiritually, i find it hard to believe in an all powerful god that doesnt sleep, watches every move you make, and that you are supposed to idolize, but yet he let's so much evil happen in this world, especially to innocent children. how can you idolize a god who let's children get murdered and abused. as for religion, i think its a good thing for a person. if you have a person who thinks they don't have the strength to do something, they can put that faith into something and not worry about it as much. religion is also good for societal values, which most religions uphold good values, and that helps society function. ********************************************************************************* he said some other things too, but i can't really remember how he put them. but anyway, it totally left me dumbfounded. i had no response to what he said. what could i say that put up a reasonable argument. "well, yeah jeff but God did this or that for me."?? he would say something like, well you can't prove that it was God, no can prove that there is or isn't a God. so, if anyone has any input on what i could say or anything, i would appreciate it. |
