My fears about the other band sucking were justified.  They weren't AWFUL, but they were greatly reminiscent of the "scream-o" bands I saw at the gathering grounds when I was in middle school.  And apparently, the lead singer thought that if he danced like mick jagger on stage, that it would be ok...it wasn't.  I'm pretty sure mick is the only one capable of pulling off the sauntering and sashaying because, well, he's mick jagger. 'Nuff said.  Willard was, of course, amazing.  But then again, I don't think I've ever been disappointed at a Willard show.  They played "That Thing You Do"  from, what else, the movie That Thing You Do.  I thought it was amazing and I look forward to seeing them at the finals on the 23rd, I believe. Afterwards was...different, but still enjoyable.  Miss Manda and I had a few guests with us at Steak and Shake, which was kinda nice as it gave us more people to talk to and more to talk about.   So, that said, it was a very enjoyable night, and I hope more are in the near future.

The girls have left to enjoy what most hope to enjoy in their life: the college experience.  And so far, from what I'm told, they are very much enjoying themselves, so that's good.  Lord knows I will miss them both terribly, as will manda, but we will comfort each other with girlie outings and as much Willard and possibly Fluwid as we can afford.  And speaking of Willard, their semi-final show against Sputnik Halo is tomorrow night and we are most certainly going to support "our band" like the good groupies that we are. I just hope the other band is listenable.  I mean, they made it this far which means one of two things: they really are good or, they're really hot and have a lot of female fans willing to pay money to vote for them.  But such is the case with most local bands, n'est-ce pas?  I am terribly excited though, as I'm sure is Amanda.  Well, that's enough gushing for me, I think.  I suppose if you enjoy them as much as I do and are of age, I will see you at the show. Ta for now though...

Willard show was amazing.  Best I've seen probably ever.  Everyone was there that usually comes.  Brandon was in the dark about his cousin, I had to enlighten him... He apologized on his cousin's behalf for being "an asshole."  I told him it was no big, we hugged, talked about willard.  All was well.  Psylis was surprisingly good as well. A little more "pop" than willard, but good stage presence and a fairly unique sound.  The lead singer sounded a little too much like Scott Stapp from Creed sometimes, but they looked like they were all having fun, so who cares? A migraine for Manda and Smoke-induced headaches for the rest inhibited us from staying through the second set of Psylis. Which is a shame considering as soon as we got up to leave, the cute drummer decides (much to the delight of the female population of the room) to take off his shirt.  We at least got to see it off for a few seconds, but we left shortly thereafter.

I finally met his friends, and they were a lot of fun.  I heard lots of incriminating stories about him, but he didn't seem phased by it.  We all watched Carnivale which is by far THE most disturbing show cable has ever produced.  We also watched a blurb on the net where Japanese men line up over these contraptions and must say a tongue-twister without messing up or run the risk of getting a shot in the pills.  Only one out of seven guys got it right...very funny, but a little hard to watch.  I imagine it would be harder if I were of the male persuasion.  All-in-all, a good time.  I just hope all goes as well when he meets the girls.  Although, he's met my mother, and there's not much that's scarier than that....

Clerks II

Not much new in the life of me, but I did see Clerks II the other day and it was a hell of a lot funnier than I thought it would be.  Jason Mewes' man-gina was.... as shocking as it was entertaining and only made me love him more.  There were things I'd never heard before, like some of the racial slurs that I wouldn't have even known were offensive if they hadn't been pointed out.  I don't know if this is a testament to just how sheltered life is here in K-town... or if it just means that I've never really been around racist people much.  I prefer to think the latter.  But all-in-all, it was a good time, and I think the other ten people who were in the theater at the time would agree.

There were awkward pauses, and stories of exes.  Two key things in making a date bad, and yet, it was still amazing.  The food was something I'd never tried and the pauses were few enough that they didn't ruin anything.  And he was so.... adorable? Sweet? Considerate?  I don't know, it was just really nice.  Ever the gentleman, and a little geeky too.  But somehow, it works for him.  There are so many things I wish I could say about it, but all that I seem to get out is, that it was nice.  So I guess that's what I'll continue to say.  It was very, very nice.
