  • Good Saturday morning to you!!!

It's a long weekend and I am SO thankful for that. We have plans of nothing and nothing is good! I've had a sinus infection this week and some side effects to the meds. that have left me feeling not so hot, so I 'm glad for some down time to sleep, relax and do whatever I want to do!

School is going well. My kids are good kids so far. They have been working extra hard and doing a GREAT job. I took time out of my planning to call a few parents yesterday and let them know their kid is doing a great job so far. It kinda surprised them that I called to say good things about their kid. You know usually when the school calls it's not for good things. I'm proud of them though and wanted their parents to know as well. I have one student who's mom is the lunchroom manager and I went back yesterday to tell her that her kid was doing a JAM up job and I thought she would cry  She's just so glad to know that her daughter is doing well and she's doing it ALL on her own.

My kids are mostly LD and I have one MR but they are doing everything that is expected of them and the only slack they get cut is going into resource to have their tests read to them. They are doing all the work of a regular ed. kid and are being successful at it.

I am a proud teacher at the moment!

I had one mom - the mom of my MR student tell me that her kid loved me and he was really happy. She was concerned that the adjustment would be too much for him, but he's adjusted, made friends and is independent on many of the things we do. He's the CUTEST kid - no lie.

So I am enjoying my kids and what I'm doing.

We had our first football game on Thursday night. That meant pep rally and they are in the morning - 1200 kids in a gym screaming, WoW! They do a good job of the pep rally thing, that was my first one in MANY MANY years. I worked the game Thursday  night and worked with a lady who was FABULOUS! We had the BEST time taking up tickets! Good times! I actually enjoyed the football game which surprised me  That was my first highschool football game in MANY MANY years too.

So it's GREAT to be a Valley Cub right now

Well folks... I guess that's all I got right now. I hope you all have wonderful long weekends!

  • Isn't she lovely?

I know that the election for our new president is a few months away... and I know that you all do not feel the same Democratic love that I do... I want change, I want to see NCLB revamped, I want to see an end to the war, and I want the US led in the right path...We each believe what we want and I respect that...

All of that aside, Michelle Obama led a rocking great speech at the Democratic National Convention. It's a little long, but well worth the listen... Just put it in the background. How amazing it must be to be the wife of a presidential hopeful and be able to say that she was a part of history in the making. Wow.

The absolute best part is towards the end around the 18 or 19 minute mark. It's precious.

Vote for who you want to... make sure YOU vote for who YOU want and make sure you know the facts on each one of these guys...

    Above all else... VOTE!
It's an amazing power that we have... use it!

    Much love -
    Sherri :)

  • First off - thank goodness it's Friday!

I really don't think I could have made it one more day.
    Seriously!

My job is ok. I really enjoy my kids and I enjoy my resource class, the collaboration is just ok.

Next week starts football season and I'll be working the gates. Very exciting, right? Alexandria plays Anniston - I asked if my gate duty would come with a bullet proof vest.

    I'm a funny gal, really!

We have noting special to do this weekend. I am thankful. I suppose I'll clean house and make it look all nice and perty again It's been a few weeks since it's been cleaned good!

Have a good weekend all but before I go -

    I have a prayer request...
We lost a friend this week to a car accident. I ask that everyone who remembers Michael Bell to remember his family in your prayers, especially DeAnna.

  • I suppose it's time for an update...

I finished up school... with a 4.0 - THANK YOU - THANK YOU very much!

I really didn't think I was going to pull off A's this Summer but I did

Now I'm waiting on the State Department to mail me my certificate - which will make me official!

I'll need to revamp my resume and come up with a pretty stinkin' great letter of interest for when that time comes.

School started back with the kids. The first few days before that were quite rocky and I was ready to quit and apply for a manger position at McDonald's but I survived and things got better.

I have 12 kids on my caseload and they are some GREAT kids so far. I've really pushed them hard this first week with homework and getting their classwork finished and they have done jam up GREAT!

I'm hoping they stay that way!

GAMECOCKS2008 001 Last Saturday was Fan Day at JSU. I stood in line so I could meet the new quarterback and get the team to autograph my poster. I got everyone and the NEW quarterback! He's a transfer from LSU and he shows GREAT promise! I mean he came from the National Champs team RIGHT!

So that was fun... and hot! We also got to see the team scrimmage and that got us ALL ready for GAMECOCK FOOTBALL!!!

    I'm such a nerd GAMECOCKS2008 007

So I've made it a full week of teaching... I've had extra time to do whatever I wanted because my days of schooling are over for now.

I have a few unspoken prayers - it is family related - everything is ok but I'd like for you to pray for us right now. We all know that prayer is POWERFUL!

  • As Sherri's world turns...

Well it's been a busy past few weeks... Has it been a few weeks? It sure feels like it! School starts back on Monday and I spent this past week trying to cram as much summer vacation into one week as I could. I went to LaGrange and visited for a few days, Kelly went with me so I got to spend time with my family and her, a total win win situation!

I finished up my degree last Saturday with my portfolio presentation. When I was finished he said good job and you passed - that officially made it OVER! So for a celebration Ben and I took off for the ATL and some DCI drum corp ACTION! I loved it! It's been several years since I've seen a show so this was a special treat with the top 12 corps competing. I got to see LOTS of folks I know and drum corp and pass my presentation so that was a GREAT day!

I spent a few days decorating my classroom. It's still not all finished but by the time the kids come in everything will be READY to go! I'm VERY anxious to start up the new school year and get to know my new school. The anxiety of starting on Monday has broken my face out like a pimply faced teenager - it's really lovely :)

Ben will run the 5K Woodstock in the morning and we might get some tax free shopping in this weekend. We'll also visit the MellowMushroom for some tasty pizza and good beer - that I don't drink :)

Then the inevitable starts up on Monday.

So... there ya go and there are lots of pics to color my past few days!

It's the Daisy DOG! sunbathing. She's such a GOOD puppy!

I visited my closet in LaGrange and dug out ALL kinds of cool stuff! Here's a hair crimper from 1987 I think it said... It still works and it'll still crimp hair! Woah!

Thanks goodness for my CHI hair straightener that this moment only lasted just that... a moment :)

Those are in fact cassette tapes. I had Debbie Gibson, Tiffany, Bel Biv Devo, TLC, and a ton more golden oldies. We even listened to a homemade tape of requests I made on the radio, me singing and playing the flute MANY years ago. It was GREAT entertainment!

SHUT YOUR MOUTH! That is a 35 m camera right there - it's the size of a small town too, haha! There's my flute case that I've had since 6th grade 1986 I believe and my 1986 year book - YES!

Class of 1992 Senior shirt - in VERY good condition! Any takers?

My Senior trip shirt to Panama City Beach. It EVEN has the room number from the hotel - comes with glitter free of charge :)

That's right! It's our Senior class picture. Equipped with HIDEOUS gold gowns! How many of you old school folks still have this?

And here is the FINAL picture! It's gas and it's 3.69 a gallon! Why am I excited about3.69 gas? That's insane right? Gas was .93 a gallon in 1986 and it was 1.13 when I graduated in 1992. Yeah - beat that class of 2008 :)

    G'night all!

Things that make me happy...

About Me

  • Sometimes you have to stand back and take a look at all the wonderful things around you. I am blessed with a wonderful husband who loves me so much - a crazy Daisy Dog! - a fabulous family who supports me and pushes me and celebrates all my accomplishments with me - and some of the most awesome friends a girl could ask for. Working on my Educational Leadership degree - I'll be finished up in August!!! That just means I can be your principal some day or superintendent or special ed. coordinator - or whatever they want to pay me the big bucks to do :) Life hasn't always been this way but I remember to stand back take a good long look and thank God for all he has given me. It is after all God who has been this good to me.
