  • It is certainly one of those days where the ability to concentrate seems as easy as running a marathon....in 90 degree weather.....with no training.

Crunch time for school. My final and final paper (big paper) is due 7/29....final will be easy....paper will be too if I just start it. Only 7-10 pages and I have to write a recommendation of implementing a technology. I've received perfect score on all other papers so I'm not worried about not doing well. I'm just having issues with procrastination right now . For my other class we are finishing the final phase, will revamp phase 2, and then have to get our presenation together. Not to worried about it.

I'm trying to think of an inexpensive vacation that deals with being outside. Originally we had plans to spend an extended weekend somewhere in the Applacian Mountains. We'll probably have to wait until next year for this one when there is more of a cash flow. One of Matts friends is getting married in September up by Cleveland. I thought it would be a great idea to turn that into a vacation. I know there's nothing to do in Cleveland so I suggested going to Pennslyvania. Matt suggested Michigan (mainly so he could fish) but I shot it down when I found out I would have to drive another 5 hours to get to where he wanted to go.

Anyone have any ideas? Even if we did camp in the Appalacians it would involve a ton of gas and we all know how gas prices are right now. I would be perfectly happy taking 3-4 days (around a weekend to make it longer :)  ).

By the way, saw Black Knight this weekend....really good. To be honest though, I was more excited about the preview of the new Terminator movie.....so excited that we watched T3 last night. I saw all 3 this year for the first time (sad I know but I'm slowly catching up to the rest of the world when it comes to movies). I got hooked with the TV series started last year. (I know it's different than the movies but the story line made me want to know more).

Only an hour before I am free!! (For the evening). I have a class on labor relations tomorrow from 1-4:30..Yea for getting out of the office!

  • This weekend was really fun. We went to Mason to visit some friend Friday night and then it was off to Kings Island on Saturday. I love roller coasters! I found out that Cedar Point bought Kings Island last year....Kings Island was owned by Paramount for years so a majority of their coasters were named after movies. For example:

    Old Name                                                   New name

The Italian Job                                             Backlot Stunt Coaster (no creativity here)

    Top Gun                                                     Flight Deck

    Face Off                                                      Invertigo

    Tomb Raider                                               The Crypt

The classics are still there with the same name though. Son of Beast (they took out the loop but it is still a great coaster), Beast, Vortex, The Racer, and Flight of Fear. The lines were way to long for Beast and Vortex (my favorite) but I've been on them enough that it wasn't a big deal.

Towards the end of the day we did bumper cars too.

Firehawk is the new attraction and it was well worth the 1 1/2 hour wait in the blazing sun (admittedly this is the only long wait we did):

Thrill flyers experience heart-pounding excitement as Firehawk soars through more than ½ a mile of steel tracking. Willing adventure seekers lie down to experience this 51 mph., top-secret, all-altitude airborne mission. But they’re certainly not relaxing – within seconds, each pilot is facing the ground, experiencing the inconceivable feeling of human flight.

It's pretty much the same thing as XFlight at Geauga Lake...and as I was just reading about it...I now realize this is the exact same ride just repainted.....hmmm.....glad I didn't know that ahead of time :)

No water rides this time. It would have felt good but we forgot our bathing suits....or a change of clothes.

By 6pm us old folks were tired so we headed home. Sunday was lunch with mom for her Birthday and then homework and procrastination on getting ahead on other homework....I'm working on it tonight :).

So it's half way through another work week....class Saturday.....probably lots of hw this weekend since I have been putting off my final paper for my other class. It only has to be 7 pages so I'm not sure why I'm delaying.

Hope everyone is having a great week!
