love, lingering hope = irony

Irony. It is defined as a contradiction or incongruity, and there are many a times a person experiences the concept. For example, if one's profession is to counsel failing relationships and marriages when one's marriage is failing is ironic. Irony has bewildered many, especially when it comes to a person's deepest, most sensitive emotion: love. One of the most obvious reasons why these ironic situations happen is people hold on to a lingering hope that the irony will contradict itself and everything will turn out well at the end. It is not always so. In fact, 99 percent of the time, it never does.

Irony and love go hand in hand numerous times. One finds true love in someone they don't expect to love and find misery in those who they thought and imagined loving. Isn't it ironic that, even though subconsciously people know when they choose the wrong decisions when it comes to love, people choose it anyway. Isn't that ironic that , although knowing subconsciously the choices made won't make one happy, one choose anyway.

The lingering hope of many is a main factor in why ironic situations happen. No matter how smart, intelligent, wise, or whatever verb to describe smart a person is, that lingering hope will fail the person to make an ignorant decision. For example, whee a person waits for their assumed significant other for a phone call or a date, that person ends up not showing up or calling. In their heart and mind, that person knew that they would not show up or call. It's called intuition (and for those Mormons, the Holy Ghost). But that lingering hope blocks your rational thoughts and ends up failing the person. He or she will end up being hurt at the end..and for what. Lingering hope.

So faith, hope, love...all can be well. However, too many a times, when love is mixed in with lingering hope, there is irony. True hope is when one really feels that this could come to pass. But lingering hope is various failed attempts at something but still not accepting that not even hope can fix it. That's why irony comes into place.

So please..if one has lingering hope, please accept that things will never work out..can never be..because may a times one's vision of love will fail..and many events will be painful and ironic. Love plus lingering hope will always bring irony and never true happiness. One must move on.

Mistakes happen because of that one decision. One cannot control what gets thrown at one's face, but one can decide what to do with the situation thrown at them.
