| Ugh, everything has been such a mess lately. Let me start with an apology to Mimi, girl I am soooo sorry I missed your birthday! I'll tell you what happened, as I told you I was bringing my friend Kat, but then the day before she told me she couldn't make it. I was like, aite I'll call Penny so I called Penny and she said she could come with me and I said I'd pick her up at 8:30 at her cafe. So on Monday I tried to get in touch with Penny, I was calling the bitch all day and she wouldn't pick up her phone, so I got ready anyway and at 8:45 I called her and her man picked up the phone and was like "Penny's asleep". I'm like WFT bitch is supposed to be going out with me tonight, and her man's like well should I tell her to call you when she wakes up? The idiot didn't even have the common sense to wake her up right there n then so I could talk to her. Which proved to me that he was lying. Anyway, I was just about to leave my house to go to Mimi's boat party which most of your know I couldn't wait to go to, I had what I was wearing prepared weeks before the party. So I'm getting my keys, all ready to go rave it up by myself, when I get a call from Leo. He's just arrived in London! So I'm like thank fuck I have someone to go with me! So I go to pick him up at like 10:30 and he tells me he's not feeling well and doesn't feel like going out. So we had a huge arguement because Mimi came to my 21st all by herself and it was just a house party, my girl hired out a boat and I wasn't gonna go? So that's why I didn't go, and in the morning I felt even more guilty for shouting at Leo about not wanting to go because he came down with the flu and a really high temperature. Had to call the doctor to come to the house. So after spending the day looking after him, I got his flu and was sick for the rest of the week.
I started work at the Langham Hotel on Monday, HATED IT. I got my uniform and the rules and regulations and I was like, boy! I can't work in these conditions!! No nail polish, no earrings, no rings except wedding/engagement, no unusual make up, no this no that. Damn. I just wanna work in a place where the customer asks for a Vodka n Lime and I slam it on tha table and get a £5 tip! Tuesday morning I just wanted to cry. The uniform was a black office style skirt to my knees, a white shirt 2 sizes too big, and a horrible dark green waist coat! WTF? That's not glamourous!! I can't wear that shit! I didn't go in on Tuesday (yesterday), I called the manager and quit. I felt kinda bad because I got this job through someone I know, he made the call and got me the interview. And I turned down a job at the Hilton because I was going to work at the Langham. Oh well, I don't think hotel bartending is really my thing. I need a more chilled laid back kinda bar. Like in a club or something. Where the uniform says "21 year old sexy bartendress" not "middle-aged-wannabe". Made a few calls today to find a job, only one had vacancies. I'm going back to the casino business, the money's better. Palm Beach are sending me an application form, I hope I get an interview with them. I am NOT giving Napoleon's as a reference, that bitch nearly fucked me over with me interview at the Langham. Which is a shame because Napoleon's is the only casino I've worked at. When I got dismissed from Napoleon's, I wasn't bothered at all because I had kinda had enough with the whole casino scene, but now I think I miss it, and out of all the jobs I've ever had I think I liked working at Napoleon's the most. Ah yes, casino casino. Hmm... maybe it was just the money...
Besides all of that, my mama's sick, I had to miss college today to stand in for her at work, my tutor was pissed, my friend is getting married, I'm waitressing at a gay party with Leo on saturday, blah blah blah. | | |
| I'm furious. Just watching the news, Ken Livingstone is putting the central London congestion charge up 60% from £5 to £8! WTF? Okay, for those who live in other countries or who don't drive, a couple of years ago the Mayer of London introduced a £5 per day charge for all cars (except for cops, ambulances, etc), who drove into central London. Camera's were placed around the border of central London (about 2 miles away from where I live), and if you didn't pay either by text message, at a gas station, or online by 10PM, the charge would go up from £5 to £10. And if you didn't pay that day, the owner of the car would be sent a letter and an invoice for a charge of £40 (maybe it's gone up).
Apart from the fact that I've always thought the congestion charge (introduced to reduce congestion) was an absolutely insane and money making idea, I never thought that it would work. If people need to get from A to B, they're gonna drive through London regardless of wether they have to pay or not, right? Well, there's the option of taking another route, but would people really have the time? Not always. Now, I could totally accept this, except earlier this year the public transport fees went up! Wasn't the congestion charge introduced to persuade (or make) people use public transport more? So why the hell is public transport so expensive? It costs £1 even if you're going one stop on the bus, that's usually under a minute's ride! Travelling to or from central London is over £2 and that's just one way, even if you're just going one stop! What the fuck is going on? And now man wants us drivers to pay £8 just to drive through central London? Bullshit! Apparently, the plans to extend the congestion charge into west London (where I live) have been posponed until February 2007. And you'd think that living within the congestion charge area, you wouldn't have to pay, right? Wrong. 50p a day wether you're driving you car, or it's parked outside your house. You have to pay £2.50 a week. For some, that's more than they'd pay if they were living outside the congestion charge, I know that's the case for me.
Now don't get me wrong, I appreciate that the congestion charge operates between7AM and 6:30PM and only Monday to Friday, and holidays are free. But I still think £5 is too much, let alone £8. I understand that there is a need to reduce the number of vehicles travelling in central london, and if a fee is needed then I'd say a charge of no more than £2 is reasonable. The money should then be used to improve London's public transport by providing more buses, making the tube 24 hours (they do it with the subway in NY), and most important of all, I'm sure you 9-5 workers will agree, air conditioning on the tube/trains.
While I'm here ranting on... some ass on TV is telling me the average driver in London wont be bothered about the cc, psshhhh! I guess I ain't yo average driver den blud! Good news, I just read on their website, there is no charge between Dec 25 and Jan 3, whoopie *note the sarcastic*. | | |
