it's hot. we're sweating. there are four of us and we've hired four more. there's a lot of paper. there are a lot of pens. lots of heavy lifting. strong desire to throw everything out the window. wish it was easy like in college. ooh! found some candy. ew, it's stale. there are lots of wires. old school rugs. binders and binders and binders and books. paintings and photos and bulletin boards oh my. post-its post-it-ed on top of other post-its. cards and invitations and vitamins and first aid kits and paper towels. phone numbers without names. names without context. a forest of business cards.
garbage, garbage, garbage, $20 (score!), deodorant! honey! lotion from fiji thanks to bcc* and v*
i remember there was a time when i was little and thought "wow, things are going to be like this forever." i guess we're all born with a little bit of what aesop rock raps, "lucy was 7 and wore a head of blue barrettes | city-born into this world with no knowledge and no regrets."
then, someone dies. or something awful happens. or things just change drastically...and we realize just how ephemeral this existence really is.
with recent passings of dear ones within six degrees of separation from myself, i felt compelled to post a memorial in honor of those who have moved on from this world.
O GOD of the Spirits of all flesh, O Jesus,
Lover of souls, we recommend unto You the souls of all those Your
servants, who have departed with the sign of faith and sleep the
sleep of peace.
Let their souls rejoice in Your light, and
impute not to them their former iniquities, which they committed
through the violence of passion, or the corrupt habits of their
fallen nature.O Gracious Lord, we beseech You, remember not
against them the sins of their youth and their ignorances; but
according to Your great mercy, be mindful of them in Your heavenly
glory.
Come to their assistance, all you Saints of
God; gain for them deliverance from [the] place of
punishment; meet them, all you Angels; receive these holy souls, and
present them before the Lord. Eternal rest give to them, O Lord. And
may perpetual light shine on them. May they rest in peace.
Amen.
"Cordell" by The Cranberries
Though once you ruled my mind
I thought you'd always be there
And I'll always hold on to your face
But everything changes in time
And the answers are not always fair
And I hope you've gone to a better place
Cordell, time will tell
They say that you passed away
And I hope you've gone to a better place
Time will tell, time will tell
They say that you passed away
And I know that you've gone to a better place
Cordell, Cordell
Cordell, Cordell
Your lover and baby will cry
But your presence will always remain
Is this how it was meant to be
You meant something more to me
Than what many people will see
And to hell with the industry
Cordell, time will tell
They say that you passed away
And I hope you've gone to a better place
Time will tell, time will tell
We all will depart and decay
And we all will return to a better place

too bad the movie was utterly disappointing. after watching it, i felt exactly how i felt after reading the kite runner. the main characters essentially got away with murder. unsatisfactory satsifactions for their wrongs, if you will.
it's interesting though ... human behaviour, ethics, morality, and whatnot. how we evaluate satisfacation of a wrong, a debt, etc. take the case of child rape for example...
Rape and other crimes "may be as devastating in their harm, as here,
but 'in terms of moral depravity and of the injury to the person and to
the public,' they cannot be compared to murder in their 'severity and
irrevocability,'" Kennedy said, quoting from earlier decisions.
The decision allows death sentences
to continue to be imposed for crimes such as treason, espionage and
terrorism, which Kennedy labeled as crimes against the state.
the Supreme Court apparently deemscrimes against the state more worthy of harsher punishment than sex crimes against 5 and 8 year olds. hmm. i wonder if there is a scale for measuring that.
at first i was afraid i was petrified kept thinking i could never live without my wisdom teeth spent so many nights with a dull pain in my mouth then i grew strong, and learned how to get along
now you see me as someone new, i'm not that person with her bottom row all messed up because of you (wisdom teeth)
.[intermission for a spit break].
go on now go, get yanked out and be gone
just turn around now
'cause you're not welcome anymore
weren't you the one who tried to hurt me and make me cry
you think i'd crumble
you think i'd lay down and die (as you grew in impactedly)?
oh no, not i i will survive
as long as i have my other teeth i know i'll stay alive
i've got all my life to live
i've got two other wisdom teeth to give (dread)
