| So, two US Navy warships were fired upon in the Jordanian port of Amman today. A couple of missiles narrowly missed the USS Kearsarge and the USS Ashland, one of those missiles hitting a storage warehouse on the dock. Obviously this draws comparisons to the bombing of the USS Cole, where 17 sailors were killed when a suicide boat blew up next to it in Yemen. However, in this case, thankfully, no one was injured and 6 suspects are being sought.
Now, the real point of this entire post is this: both of those ships are amphibious assault ships. That means that their entire job is to hold Marines and take them where they need to go. If anyone still needs proof that terrorists aren't the brightest people in the world, I think this is it. What kind of sane person would voluntarily attack a ship full of US Marines? I don't care what you say, Marines tend to get pissed off when their buddies get killed. And when Marines get mad at you, you will not survive that encounter. Especially when there's a couple ships each filled with about 2000 of them. |
