Yes, tell me about it.. Anyways, it's been like a horrible cold that just won't leave with all the symptoms. It would leave and then come back a day later. I probably would have gone to the doctor weeks ago, but I don't have insurance right now. Anyways, this week we started school again on Wed. and Wed. my symptoms began returning again after being gone for a day or two... well not really gone, but you probably understand what I mean. The added bonus this week was that Wed. morning I woke up with a horrendous headache. It thankfully went away during the school day but returned later in the evening. I still have that headache now two days later. Yep - I bet you can imagine. So, this morning I woke up, and it was really bad. It hurt to move my eyes or my head. I knew I couldn't teach in that condition, so I called a bunch of people to let them know I couldn't come in. The hardest thing about teaching at the school I do is it's very hard to get a hold of people in the morning, and there is no sub list. Thankfully, we have an aid type person that helps all of us out in the elementary side of the building, and she subbed my class for the whole day. She's an angel. I'll get back to that later. So I slept most of the morning. I called the doctor to see how much it might cost to come in, and they could not even give me a price range. ridiculous. One of our malls here has a clinic in it that you just pay $39, and if it's a condition they treat, they prescribe the meds and everything. Well they treat colds, flus, sinus infections, strep, and all the things that could be what I was feeling. I had a feeling it was a sinus infection, but I really had no idea. I called to see if I should come in, and they said it sounded like they could help me. My mom took me this afternoon, and to make a long story short, I have a really bad sinus infection, hence the horrendous sinus headaches. The headaches seriously feel like someone is trying to push my brain and my eyes right out of my head,. Yeah... not fun. I am so glad I went in, and the advanced nurse who was there today was absolutely fantastic. I have to take the strongest dosage possible of amoxicillin for 14 days. Let's do some war with those headaches!!

Getting back to my class, the principal called me a few hours ago to see how I was doing, which was wonderful. He told me that someone anonymously offered to pay whatever expenses I incurred today, which is so out of the blue, and he said my class was fantastic. For those of you that don't know I have a harder class. They've always been like that, especially with 12 boys and 3 girls. It just happens. haha. I love them though, and I'm doing the best I can, and I love it. Well anyways, when I asked him how they were today, he said "perfect." He said Mrs. Mattke (the sub) said they were so good and they got everything finished early. She told him she was so impressed with me as they are completely different from how they were last year. You know how that made me feel? LIke a million bucks! He told me if I need to to stay home on Monday also. We'll see what happens by then. He said he knows me, and he knows I"m really sick. It was just one of those phone calls that is short but makes you feel really appreciated and like you can take the time you need to take care of yourself because someone believes in you and is there to tell you so. He gets the caring principal award from a very appreciative teacher. Oh, and Jean Mattke gets the sub of the year award. :)

Monday, January 01, 2007

Happy 2007 ! ! ! !

Wednesday, December 27, 2006

Hello everyone!

I have some exciting news! I am currently typing from a coffee shop on my new laptop computer. It is a Toshiba Satellite, and I absolutely love it. I had a raincheck for a Sony computer that was on sale last week at Best Buy, and now it is a discontinued model for Best Buy, so they were required to give me a comparable computer at the price I had the raincheck for. Because of that I got a computer that's actually a tad bit nicer, and I got it for 200 dollars cheaper than the tag price, which felt amazing! Some previous people had been really mean to me when I went in to ask about the status of the ordering of the one I had the raincheck for, but they were really nice again last night when I explained everything to them. The computer guy that found me the comparable computer and the manager of the store were so amazing last night to me and apologized over and over for how I was treated. They wanted to know the name of the rude worker, but of course I couldn't remember. Oh well - that guy got a break from me. I'm happy now anyway, and Best Buy is back on my good list.

Well, I should probably get to work. I have a ton of planning and grading to do, but Sarah is here with me, so it's a little more entertaining than being alone, although she's working on psychology homework.

Sunday, December 24, 2006

Merry Christmas Eve!!

Well I am officially done teaching in 2006. How crazy is
that!? We had our Christmas party today, and it was
wonderful. We rotated to three stations that moms were in charge
of. One station was decorating Christmas cutouts, one was making
two ornaments, and one was making pictures using inkpads and your
fingerprints. I love that one so much, and so did the
kids.!!

Oh my word, I got so many gifts from my kids. I also got a bonus
from the school budget and a check that was given to each teacher that
was a lump of money given by a bunch of parents for the teachers.
I feel so blessed. God is so faithful. With the money, I am
buying a laptop. It is currently sold out in the whole city, but
I have a raincheck. I just need to be patient...

My brother's basketball team beat a team on Tuesday that hasn't lost in
two years. We won by 16 or 18 points. The tv show Preps
Plus was also at the game, so if you live in the area, watch tomorrow
at 12:30 on channel 4. My brother is #30 on the white and red
team with the knee brace. He was sick and still had 15 points
including 4 three-pointers. I am so proud of how hard he's been
working!
amounts. That is why I am writing a xanga entry at 12:10 in the
afternoon on a Friday, and I'm not writing in my classroom
either. I am at home in my comfortable clothes, listening to
Christmas music, watching the whiteness out the window, and decorating
the house for Christmas. We got hit with a pretty nasty storm,
and virtually all the schools in the area are closed, which is
almost unheard of around here. yay!

My brother started his basketball games this week. The first game
was home on Tuesday, and they won. He had 20 points including 4
three pointers :) Last night, they had an away game in Illinois
right over the border, and they lost by 10. The other team had
taken their starters out long before the game ended too, so it was
pretty sad I guess. Oh well, those things happen.

Have a great weekend one and all!
