How did it get to be this far into July already?? Really, it feels like summer just began, and now we're already this far into it...I also can't believe it's been so long since I've blogged. Crazy.
But anyhow, I guess we've been busy! I've been trying to do other things besides spend time on the computer...like going on outings with Lucas, spending time just relaxing with Mitch, organizing our file cabinet, more camping, and PULLING WEEDS! Oh ugh, I don't like doing that chore, but it must be done.
At the beginning of the summer, I took these pictures of my lovely flowers...

But I hate to admit, that a few weeks ago, I could hardly see the flowers anymore. The weeds were that bad! So I've been working on it because having a garden is no fun unless it looks pretty! My goal is at least one hour every day this week. And after two days, it's already looking much better. I can actually enjoy my daisies

. It's kind of like life. You can have everything you desire in life, but if you don't take care of yourself--heart and soul--you can't enjoy what you have!
And now, very late in coming, but pictures from 4th of July, which we spent with Jess (Lucas' birthmom) and then later on with some friends from church (but I don't have pictures from that).
Brat & garlic potato kebabs (MmMmm!)
Lucas, of course

And Lucas with his best bud, Charlie (that is one patient dog!)

Saturday the 5th we went to a BBQ with people from church and stayed for a large fireworks show afterwards. We weren't sure how Lucas would react, but once they finally started, he was completely mesmerized...and then promptly fell fast asleep about 2 mintues into the show. I was very impressed. He makes parenting so easy :). He really does, he's such a good baby. Full of energy, for sure! But so happy and content. Tonight, as he tipped the dog's water bowl over once again, I had my moment of frustration

but it is fun to see him expore more and more. That kid can crawl, and crawl fast!
Last weekend we went camping with my parents. We didn't have our camera, so I'll have to wait for pictures from my mom's camera. We had perfect weather and just such a fun, relaxing time. A little hiking, a little grilling, a little marshmallow roasting, etc. Good times. It got down to 50-55 degrees at night! Is that not crazy for July?
And now next week we leave for North Carolina for our road trip! We'll be staying in a few places in Missouri and Tennessee on the way. Then I'm attending a
GEMS conference in Ridgecrest, NC, while Mitch and Lucas will be staying in a Bed & Breakfast at the entrance to the conference center. That was such a blessing that we found something so close to where I'll be! I hope Lucas is good for his Daddy for the 3 days I'll be busy! I'm very excited to go hang out in the mountains for a few days! We'll be sure to take lots of pictures there :).
Well, I think that's a pretty good update for the last couple of weeks. Just some good, summer fun.
