| | I'm BackWhat's up, fools?
So I bought a airline ticket today online...I think it's amazing how much you can do over the Internet these days (granted, much if it's to our detriment)...I mean, this year, I've ordered school books, CDs, electronics, novels, at a whole lot more. It's just amazing how much we have so easily at our disposal.
I spent the last couple days recording a couple operas with the orchestra down in Ann Arbor. What an experience...something I've never done before, and it teaches you a lot of things. The scariest thing for me is the level of consistency required for a project like that. We had to record about 70 minutes' worth of music in four days---now that might seem easy, but if you stop and think about it, it's pretty complicated. First off, it's a recording for a major record label, and it'll be distributed worldwide (it'll be on iTunes too), so it has to be something of quality. Second, it's an opera, so not only are you recording with an orchestra, but with several vocal soloists and a chorus. That means about 60-70 people performing on stage most of the time. If ONE of those 70 people makes a minor mistake, the take's no good, and it has to be done over again. You talk about pressure to play perfectly. It was a good experience, though, and the product's going to be something to be proud of, it's going to turn out very well.
I'll be around for another four weeks or so this summer, and there are still many of you I'd like to see before I leave for North Carolina, so if you would, drop me a comment and we can hang out soon! |
