| Update time. Man, I totally forget about Xanga at times, even though I get the daily digest in my email of other people. So much has gone on since my last update.
1. I am now ENGAGED!!! It happened a week ago on Sunday. I told Audra on that day after lunch that I had "stuff" to work on, so I would be busy the rest of the day, but to keep her church clothes intact, so we could go somewhere nice to eat for dinner. Well, then about 4pm, I went to call her and told her I was outside her apartment and that I wanted to pick her up and go driving around since it was so nice outside. So I picked her up and we went driving around and I took her to Trinity Park here in Fort Worth. The park was jam-packed with people, so I had to drive around to the back. We finally found a spot toward the back where they had a single picnic bench table and so I stopped there and parked. I got out and told Audra that I had brought my guitar and we could break out with some Praise and Worship music. So I play some songs for a few minutes, and then I stopped and then I started playing the song that I worked on for her. I started playing "The Love of My Life" by Jim Brickman (vocals done by Michael W. Smith), and it went well. Then, in the middle of the song, there is an instrumental break which has a lot of weird chords (mainly flat chords, and since I am not the best at guitar I decided to break into another song which Audra loves, and it is the song that Adam Sandler sang to Drew Barrymore on the airplane in the movie "The Wedding Singer". then when that song was complete, I broke back into the first one and finished it. Then when the song was over, I just told her how significant she was to me, and how I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I then got on one knee and popped the big question to her and she said YES!!! I was so happy. We are looking at getting married in early August. Haven't gotten the exact date set officially or the place set.
2. Still working at Bell Helicopter. It's a good job. I like it it alot.
3. I am taking two classes this semester at SWBTS. Old Testament 1 and Administrative Leadership for Ministry. Both of them are Wed.-Fri. classes.
4. Audra and I are about to join Meadowridge Community Baptist Church in Fort Worth. We both like the how the church is ran, plus the atmosphere is good. The pastor is good and we both like the fact that they have lifegroups instead of just the traditional Sunday School.
5. THE COWBOYS ARE NOW #1 IN THE ALLTIME DALLAS/FORT WORTH SPORTS TEAMS WHEN IT COMES TO GUTLESS COLLAPSES. They have surpassed the gutless collapse that the Mavs had against the Warriors.
6. As pertaining to #4, it didn't work out for Audra and I at Richland Hills Baptist Church. There are some reasons to speculate why it didn't work, but I am going to leave it at that. God has better things in store for us.
7. I got a new cell number. If you want it, I will give it to you, but you have to email me. I don't feel comfortable putting my number on here. My email address is nickhpu@gmail.com.
Hope everyone is doing well.
God bless, Nick J. Brown

| WOW, APRIL 19th. It's been a long time. So, I figure it's time to update my precious Xanga...IT"S SO CRAZY how people don't ever use Xanga anymore. Here we go... 1. I am blessed to have an incredible girl in my life. Audra and I have been dating for about five months now. She is so good to me, and for me. I am so glad to have her in my life. I definately ask God so many times why he has blessed me with her. We definately have a lot of fun with each other. Her family is great and very Godly. My family absolutely LOVES her. Five months have just flown by. In case people are wondering how we met. We had a class together last semester, but we actually didn't meet there, we met when we both went to a musical with our mutual friend Laura. It was a good time. I am sure Audra feels the same way about me that I feel about her, but you can check out her blog to find out. 2. I am still taking classes at Southwestern Seminary. I am scheduled to graduate in May 2009. I wish it was earlier, but I work full time, and would be killing myself by taking 12 hours every semester. So, I am only taking 9 hours, which is full time status just about everywhere else, except at Southwestern Seminary, which requires 10 hours for full time status. 3. I moved from my townhome in east Fort Worth to Carroll Park, which are apartment homes owned by the Seminary. My new roommate is my friend Joel from Alabama. We met at Wedgwood. He's a very cool guy and just started seminary this semester. He's a BIG Alabama fan. 4. Audra just accepted a call to become the part time children's Minister at Richland Hills Baptist Church in Richland Hills, TX. I am so happy for her. I am going to be moving to RHBC as well, to work with the youth ministry. One of my classmates, Casey, is the youth minister there. So, it's going to be a great time. I really have loved my time at Wedgwood, but I am looking forward to this part of my life time of doing ministry. Also, Audra and I have been praying for an opportunity to serve and go to the same church. This gives us an opportunity to do so. 5. I am still working at Bell Helicopter. I received a promotion back in May and am really loving my new position. Don't feel like going into details though. 6. Now I know that there's still a month to go, I am getting pumped about the Mavericks. Last year's early exit was a fluke and they are ready for another good season. I am excited about the Cowboys starting tonight. 7. I can't believe I'll be 27 in less than a month. that's like halfway to 54, which is very OLD. not really, but can't believe I'll be in my upper 20s. I guess that's my update for now. Hope eveyrone who actually still looks at Xanga will read this. God bless. Nick | | |
| My once a season updateHey peeps, here's my once a season update, just to keep those who actually read this informed. Where to start...
1. Well, as you can tell by the profile pic change, I am now in a relationship. Her name is Audra, and we actually have a class together. We've just been hanging out and doing stuff together, like putt-putt, watching movies, Rangers games. She is a pretty amazing girl. Hopefully I won't screw this one up. I'll put up more info about her in future postings.
2. We recently had Youth Ministry Lab at Southwestern (last weekend in fact). It was a tremendous event, even though we had to herd 1,200 people into the basement level of the main building at Southwestern because of the Tornado warning. Gregg Matte (pastor of FBC Houston) was the main speaker, and he was tremendous. Joel Engle's band rocked as usual and we had some great numbers as far as decision and commitments made that weekend.
3. Classes are stressing me out. That's all I have to say about that.
4. I've been at Bell for over two years now. Praise God for my job.
I can't think of anything else to put on here, so I'll leave it at that. Feel free to find me on facebook if you get a hold of me on Xanga.
Peace. Nick

| Quick update. Life has been pretty busy for me. But good. Please be in prayer for the Winter Youth Retreat that is taking place this weekend at Wedgwood. (WYR is really Disciple Now, but since discipleship and mentorship is a big priority in the student ministry, they decided to change the name). I have 10th grade guys, which are my usual guys that I lead in small group discussions every Sunday. I love them so much. They are great. Besides that, getting ready for Youth Ministry Lab in April. It's going to be big again this year. Ready for the Rangers to start play, ready for the Mavs to win it all, and just ready to continue with my life. That's about it. Hope everyone is doing well.
God bless, Nick

| WOOHOO, NEW YEAR!!! I SO HOPE IT"S BETTER THAN 2006. Anyways, Yesterday was so memorable. I went to see my boys play yesterday, and saw something that I NEVER thought would happen, the darn Lions beat the Cowboys. The game was fun, but it was cold. My friend Joel from Alabama went with me. It was his first regular season Cowboys game. But even though they lost, they still make the playoffs, and if they play as good as they are capable of playing, They STILL can make the NFC championship game. But their defense has to bring their A - game. Last night, I stayed in a fancy hotel. I am talking about one of those nicer than what most people even use for prom. It was so fun in Downtown dallas last night. For those who went with me, thanks for the memorable times. HAHA.
As far as the lack of updates go on here, I have just been very lazy and apathetic on updating. But I still have been faithful in reading other people's sites. Thanks for keeping me informed and entertained about your lives.
I really don't have any New Years Resolutions, haven't really thought of it. I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. I see this year as another year of preparation. A year of learning, a year of change hopefully. I still have two years left of seminary, and then only God knows where I will be placed. I don't know how much longer I will be at my job (I don't mean to make this sound like I want to quit or leave my job) or if it somehow will be my career. I definately have some old habits that NEED to be kicked to the curb for GOOD this year. I am very content with where I am at in life currently as far as what's happening in my life. I have a great job that pays wonderful, I am in Seminary where I continually am being educated, and I have a church where I LOVE TO GO. I love my friends, but wish I could spend more time with them. If there were things I wish I could change about myself, I would change the hours I work to make myself more available to do ministry and fellowship, but God's timing is perfect. I have to rely on Him, and trust Him, and quit worrying about meaningless, insignificant areas of my life.
To all my friends who still read this, I hope all of you are doing well.
To God be All the Glory, Nick J. Brown
