NANOWRIMO!

national novel writing month. why it's in november is totally beyond me.
but i figure i have nothing better to do in the following month than... thanksgiving and black friday.
actually that was a lie. i do have better things to do... one of which includes NANOWRIMO!

that means no xanga. for one month. shock shock.
but i shall be spurred on by the ginormous writing power of my fellow NANOWRIMO-er
together we shall trudge through the cyber space of writing and... hopefully not die.

rain.

interesting observation i made today as i came back from yet another matlab recitation, though more useful than the actual lecture, which is, in college, considered the norm. anyhow, the observation had to do with the rain (much like the title). it wasnt the rain itself that got my attention, but the response to the rain by the passerby that piqued my interest.

i understand the natural reaction is to get out of the rain as soon as possible, but how you go about that is another matter entirely. those with umbrellas didnt even notice the rain and continued their normal pace. those who had either hoods or hats also gave very little heed to the rain (poor neglected rain). however, those who had no protection to the rain besides the hair on their heads (or none in one special case) were moving at a much quicker pace than normal, and some were even running.

when you think about it, the people in that last bundle really should've saved their energy and instead, walk at a slower pace. after all, when comparing somebody who is walking and somebody who is running in the rain, granted the person running in the rain will arrive at his/her destination quicker, he/she will also run into more raindrops (oh no, some physics here) in the x-direction as well as getting raindrops still in the y-direction at the expense of totally missing out on the beauty of rain. all-in-all, running is not as effective as it seems.

meanwhile, the smarter human being taking just a little bit of time out of a possibly very busy schedule can soak up the goodness out of the rain (pun intended) and just let the cares wash away (hi pun) for just a moment... until the world comes hurling back in full throttle. most of you probably have almost no idea what i'm talking about lest you, like me, go outside purposely running and skipping and splashing (my version of dancing) in the rain, excuse me, the pouring ran.

so how about taking a minute... or an hour and just... give it a try. you know, get to know the rain.
i would love to hear about it.

it's not a slow dance, this modern romance.
feels like we've already waited too long.
<br
