Saddle Up.

Dave and I had a ministry retreat or advance called, "Unfinished Business" in which we reflected on wounds from the past and figured out how God is shaping us through them. It was held at the Most High Barn in Ada and was a beautiful setting for the get away. Here are some pictures that show the beautiful pony farm and the joys we had there. DSCN1104

This is one of the six ponies whose names are Love, Joy, Faith, Mercy, Hope and Miracle. DSCN1117 The owner of the farm enjoys sharing her place with ministry people who need a place to refresh themselves. She also has a ministry of intercessory prayer. DSCN1113 This was a wonderful place to get away for the weekend.

We got Shiloh and Daisy outfits for the season. They are cowdogs. Here is Daisy reluctantly posing for the camera.100_5522 She was sulking a bit about having to wear this silly outfit but finally resigned to the fact that her owners were going to put her through this torture whether she was willing or not. 100_5524
Shiloh seemed happy to wear her outfit.100_5496 She seemed more cooporative about the whole experience. 100_5494 Maybe it was the fact that Daisy's first outfit was too tight that made her resent the whole dress up thing. 100_5498 Zach is trying to help the dogs look on the bright side.100_5494

Here is our working man after a day of sanding back laquer. He is working so hard.100_5463
We are so thankful to have work. Today I am going to turn in an application to Christopher Banks for a part time job working in retail. I love to buy teacher clothes there and I think that place would be a good fit for me. I have been enjoying substitute teaching and hope that the jobs get more steady. In the meantime Dave and I also painted his brother's house. See the blue shutters--DSCN0991
I really enjoyed this little roller with oil based paint on the front porch furniture and railings. DSCN0988

Angie and John came home for a surprise visit to the kids. Here they are dressed up in John's birthday outfits. Angie got one to match. Notice the green necklace and earrings that match the green tie. 100_5502 They are having a great time dating and it was fun to see them for the midfall break.

Here is our sleeping beauty. She always looks cute but never so peaceful as when she is sleeping with her favorite pet, Shiloh. 100_5476

Enjoy for now and maybe we can get a great picture of Jared next time.

Fall is here--finally!

000_0142 Zach and his new buddy from school, Mitchell, made this extra ordinary volcano for school. It was a double volcano that erupted by vinegar/baking soda power and Diet Coke/Mentos power. 000_0137 Unfortunately the eruption was a little weak on the Diet Coke side because they had to pour the Diet Coke into the container. The Vinegar/baking soda was impressive with lots of yellow and brown food coloring making the results pretty messy. They did this outside at school as you can see in the picture. 000_0195
In this view you can see that Mount Kaboom was on an island with a hot spring at the base. 000_0126 Zach and Mitch typed up this story about their volcanoes.

The rain continues. The garden grows.

Yes, we are getting all the rain of the summer in the month of August. There has been flooding in some areas but we seem to have great runoff in this area and we haven't even had water in the basement. I wanted to update you on the completed raised garden which was an incredible piece of beauty in our backyard.
100_5034 100_5031 100_5030 We were able to finish most of it by Angie's birthday on Aug. 10. The little angel was the finishing touch making a triple water fall by making the water flow over the angle's pot and over the rock underneath it. Our friends the Willis came over and JimBob complemented Dave on a job well done.100_5023
We also had our friends the Irvins come over that week and here are the girls at breakfast. 100_5020
Finally Daisy came up with a unique was of toting the whiffle golf ball. We thought this was so funny that we had to share the picture. Enjoy.100_5026

Hope your umbrella works and your rain drains off.

Blessed Rain!

After a few weeks of no or little rain, we are finally getting the replenishing juice for our gardens. We are building a raised garden for around our patio because the dogs were stepping all over the plants and the chairs were falling on the flowers. Here is the progress.
100_4923 100_4921 100_4922 100_4930 100_4929 100_4931 The first thing we finished was the patio blocks. Then we started the process of building the raised beds. They will go up several levels and culminate in a fish pond. This thrills the gardener in me. Isn't my husband, Dave, sweet to do this? It has been a team project but he has done most of the hard work. Our goal is to have it done by Angie's birthday, August 10. You might notice the new patio furniture. Sears was having a sale on their furniture and it was just what I had been looking for--aluminum that stacks so it is easy to care for--no rusting--and easy to store with the stackable chairs. Fun times! We are going to celebrate in style. Thank you, Lord.

Happy August?

We got some sad news yesterday. The job position for Marketplace Ministry was filled by someone else. So we are back to waiting on God for a job for Dave. He continues to paint but there are no benefits and the pay isn't enough to support a family of six. We are doing fine for now but need to have some more direction by the fall. He is meeting with a pastor today to check out another church. We aren't sure what God has in store for us but it should be worth the wait. It makes us trust Him even more.
Here are more of the great events from July.100_4581 We visited our friends the VanDenBerg last Friday and met their cute dog, Zeke. The adults were introduced to the game Mafioso and we played several rounds with the teens being the storytellers. The next day our friend, Sally, had a summer party.100_4606 100_4593 Jon and Zach got to see each other again.
We went to it on the way to my sister's son's wedding. Here are the fabulous pictures of that happy event.100_4633 They had live music that was gorgeous. My sister and brother-in-law, who was recovering from eye surgery, go to the front with Ryan, my nephew.100_4646 And here are the bride and groom. 100_4681 We have had some great times this summer. We hope that August is a great month too.
