| Progress Report 07.21.08- Go to the gym. Despite constant pushes by Char, have not accomplished this goal. Have made genuine mental attempts.
- Get some sun. Score! Somewhat.......have not gone to the beach but organized (extra points!) and tanned at my picnic on saturday. AND threw football/baseball around in the sun. That counts as exercise no?
- Enroll in a cooking class. Have not done this unless you count "Cooking with Kaity 101". Day 1: Cold Cut Folding Etiquette. Day 2: Mayo Mayo Mayo.
- Watch a depressing Korean drama. This has been replaced with I Survived a Japanese Game Show (for you Miho .. haiii maijide!!) Jon & Kate Plus 8 and Project Runway.
- Update wardrobe. I've been shopping more and purchasing a lot of dresses. Pointless because I keep getting mosquito bites on my legs, swelling up and not wanting to show my paleness

- Get
some yoga in my life. Yeah... if #1 ain't happening, #6 is def a lost cause.
- Look for an apartment to
purchase. Have been looking and found a place I really like but out of price range. Time to take coworkers advice: "Marry for money. Cheat for love."
- Enjoy
NYC life. Oooohhh this I have been doing well on! Since my original post, I've gone to the Dali exhibit at the MoMA and concert in the park.

| my summer objectives (omg I just realized its June)As I sit here and count the hours to saturday's test, I decided to jot down some things I would like to do post the exam. I do this almost every year and pretty much every year I get nothing accomplished.
- Go to the gym. It's been 10 months since I've been a member of Bally's and I've gone a total of 6 times. I think it's time to take this gym thing seriously once and for all...especially since some friends and a certain boyfriend is getting into shape and watching their diets. Must not let them put me to shame.
- Get some sun. I don't believe I went to the beach at all last summer....leaving me at the palest I've ever been. Every picture recently makes me look ghostly. Perhaps sun will also make me look skinnier, offsetting objective number 1...slightly.
- Enroll in a cooking class. I have become more and more infatuated with cooking..mostly through programs on the food network, Top Chef and am even reading Kitchen Confidential. Why not have this "hobby" of mine be put to some good use in the future? Will need a buddy to drag me to class on a saturday morning though...
- Watch a depressing Korean drama. The last one I saw was the incestuous series "Endless Love" with WON BIN! I miss those days sitting, wasting hours upon hours watching my mandarin dubbed vcds, courtesy of my cousin. If no good ones available, will settle for a sappy Korean film.
- Update wardrobe. I've been watching way too much "What Not To Wear" with Stacey London and Clinton ...something, both of whom are fabulous. They're transformations of skanky white trash into classic beauties are inspiring. Will need to spend an obscene amount of money (no $5000 bank of america card for me
) to accomplish this.
- Get some yoga in my life. I've grown into this hyper tense, high strung person the last few years of my life and realized i need some ways to de-stress. Why not try yoga and gain some flexibility as well?! Am a bit intimidated by wearing tight spandex to the classes as we all know that's the expected attire.
- Look for an apartment to purchase. Am unsuccessfully timing the market. Still debating on the pros/cons of Manhattan life (proximity to work/food/nightlife versus paying shitloads of money to live in a closet) and Queens (close to family, bf, most friends/financial savings versus long rides to work/food and manhattan). Scale is tipping towards Queens though, perhaps a 2 bedroom with my lover Kaity and her dirty dog.
- Enjoy NYC life. This includes but is not limited to: bryant park movies/concerts, central park picnics, museums, the non ghetto parts of bklyn, broadway plays (esp. the new katie holmes one bc I am still rooting for her even though she's married to the psycho scientologist), philharmonic, comedy clubs, food festivals (hopefully starting this sunday with big apple bbq)
I will leave it at 8 because it's a good number in Chinese and because I'm out of ideas.
I will leave you with this blog from NY magazine (I love this publication). It's like Bridget Jones meets Carrie Bradshaw. http://nymag.com/daily/intel/2008/06/the_jewish_carrie.html

| So instead of studying or showering.... I'm on xanga, catching up on the lives of my friends who still blog. I'm quite disappointed...there's only 2 people that update on a regular basis. But it's the quality, not the quantity.
Anyway, between xanga, facebook, coworkers and the world it seems, everyone is getting engaged or married. Which leaves me sad because I've only gone to one wedding (outside the family) thus far. For those of you who do not know me, I am a wedding junkie. Because they discovered the proxy at work, I am left with few things to entertain myself with online, that of which includes TheKnot.com. This entails me entering the names of friends I've lost touch with into the couple wedding page/registry search engines - I've found maybe one or two. Many people go with crate and barrel for their registry. I've looked at people's beautiful (including you Havi, congrats!) wedding and bridal shower pictures on facebook in envy. I get excited at New York Magazine's special wedding issue, looking for unique ideas to come in handy one special day. "Say Yes To The Dress" is another guilty pleasure on TLC which showcases beautiful (and some hideous) gowns at Kleinfeld.
So to put it simply, will one of my girlfriends or guy friends hurry the heck up so I can be the designated wedding planner? I promise...nothing but the best.

| poke a noseDespite hating the outdoors...this past Labor Day weekend was exactly what I needed.
Our first day included shopping for food and alcohol, claiming beds and
clay shooting. I realized that shotguns are no joke and that you
must close one eye when trying to aim.... Sure it took me 18
tries for me, well my instructor, to realize I had both eyes
open. I was so much better on those last 7 shots. My
instructor was much nicer and younger and cuter than the other guy bc
he reloaded the gun since it was too heavy for me and was nice and
patient cause I sucked. The recoil on the puppy blew me back and
everyone laughed at me =(. All in all, shotguns are not my thing
(unless they invent lighter ones). The rest of the night I
improved on my beer pong and learned what a line drive was.
Day 2 was probably my least favorite day, but probably the best for
many of the guys. We woke up early, made eggs and bacon and
jetted for Skirmish paintball, the largest paintball field in North
America. I padded up as I hear the freaking balls bruise the crap
out of you. I wore a long sleeve shirt, Christine's sweatshirt
(thank you and sorry it's stinky from my perspiration) and camoflauge
that I rented. Keep in mind, we played in 80 degree weather and
I'm sweating from running around and pure fear. The first group
of people we saw when we got to the parking lot were a group of Asians:
2 girls and 2-3 guys under 5'7. I felt confident... And then we
saw the bigger guys and bigger women. The panic worsened as our
team had 11 while team red had 17?! The hike alone to the actual
battle zone in the woods was maybe 10 minutes. The first playing
field was relatively small but I didn't know where to run
nonetheless. I hid behind a fence with a fellow Indian teammate
and died as the paintball skimmed my head. Game 2 got worse as I
got shot while I was trying to call the referree bc my gun was
stuck.... AND when I was dead and walking out, I got shot
twice. Needless to say, Christine and I quit happily after game 2
or 3 and cheered our troops on. After lunch (of course) we called
up Sammy and Kaity and went food shopping instead which is always
nice. To relax, we put the hot tub to good use....It's actually a good thing we left because more people
joined the game and played against our team. These guys brought
their own $400 guns and wore knee pads and camoflauge suits covered
with leaves.
Day 3 was surprisingly fun. For a non swimmer such as myself, I
am proud of myself for even stepping on to a raft with a measly life
jacket and no instructor. This was probably the most adventurous
thing I've ever done and embraced. Although I didn't provide much
for my team as I used a shorter oar because Ryan took it by accident,
it felt good working as a team. Well... we did suck at first...
but we pulled things together after lunch..which is another shocker
because we didn't bring any lunch, as we were not prepared. We
were hungry, dehydrated and tired but we made it through the 12
miles! Oh yeah... and someone fell
off the raft....and I was truly worried, although others may have
misinterpreted my actions ^_^. Although my face is slightly
tanned (yay), I of course forgot to suntan lotion my knees and I am
burnt like toast.
The final day was nice as well. Woke up a bit later than the
other days and made sure all was intact inside the house. After
we left, we went to a shooting range and I shot my first handgun.
I liked it... I tried something with less power at first, a
concealed carry .380. My arms shook as I held it out in front of
me and aimed at my paper person target.....keep the gun leveled and pull
the trigger slowly. Bullseye! All 7 rounds.
YAY! I went back to the same instructor to try the .40 glock that
Christine tried. Bullseye for 5 out of the 7. Not bad and I
got offered a job there! I wanted to try other guns but I didn't
want to pay the money nor get addicted. Afterwards, we hit up the
Dairy Queen in NJ!!!! Finally........ years of watching
commercials, I finally tasted a Blizzard. Not bad I must
say...although I think McD's oreo mcflurry is a pretty good
competitor. The actual burgers at DQ sucked. I was very
disappointed and the wait was forever.....
So once we were back in Queens...Alan and I went to Arthur Ashe to
watch the game. We saw Lopez beat Federer in the first
set!! Man...Lopez is hot. Anyways, Federer came back second
and third set, after which we headed home. Even though our seats
were super high up, it was def an experience seeing Federer in action.
AAAANYWAYS...... vacation and summer is over.... I'm counting the days till Columbus day.

| Happy birthday martin, sutee, diana, andy, kaity, sammy and all the other may babies.
It's absolutely beautiful these days and I can't freaking focus on
studying... one more month... and I can relax. My goal is to lose
some weight, TAN (an annual goal of mine), buy lots of new clothes and
read more. I'm feeling motivated this time..
I love my ipod shuffle but I need new songs. A few months ago
when I added the songs on, I was in an Lite FM/Asian pop mode. So
out of the 200 or so songs I have, I scroll through 199 or so and
listen to Grease - Summer Lovin over and over and over. I am
officially obssessed and believe that I can be the next Sandra Dee....
okay maybe not but I freaking love the song and the cornyness and the
"ooh's" and "aah's" in the lyrics. Whenever I listen to it, I
smile towards the end and I must look like a complete freak on the
train.
Does anyone daydream when they listen to music? I love listening
to upbeat stuff while walking on the street. It's like I'm in a
movie and everything I do is that much more dramatic. Rooney's
Shakin puts me in an "OC" mode, Frou Frou's Let Go gets me in that
Garden State stage and Green Day's Holiday places me in a rebellious
state. I think I watched too much television as a kid...
On to another side note, who would like to forget about tropical places
this summer and head to Europe instead for vacation? or maybe
Asia???
