| | So I just quit my first real job ever. I have the next month to be a bum. Not that I won't enjoy it - I'll get to be lazy, eat, sleep, hopefully work out my flabby stomach. But its somewhat depressing when you resign and no one really seems to care. I guess even though I knew I wasn't going to get a going away party, I expected it to be a bit more eventful. When I first got the offer for my first job, I really believed I could develop a long and successful career there. For people entering the business world right out of college, it's natural to be a little naive about how things work. You believe that if you try really hard, everyone will see that you are really smart and indispensable and compensation/promotion/recognition will follow in suit. Well, long story short, the business world doesn't exactly work that way. And there are hoards of really intelligent, right out of college, will work until they pass out kids who can take your place. But I guess people move around a lot on Wall Street - I'm sure I'll find a good home eventually.
