So I just quit my first real job ever.  I have the next month to be a bum.  Not that I won't enjoy it - I'll get to be lazy, eat, sleep, hopefully work out my flabby stomach.  But its somewhat depressing when you resign and no one really seems to care.  I guess even though I knew I wasn't going to get a going away party, I expected it to be a bit more eventful.  When I first got the offer for my first job, I really believed I could develop a long and successful career there.  For people entering the business world right out of college, it's natural to be a little naive about how things work.  You believe that if you try really hard, everyone will see that you are really smart and indispensable and compensation/promotion/recognition will follow in suit.   Well, long story short,  the business world doesn't exactly work that way.  And there are hoards of really intelligent, right out of college, will work until they pass out kids who can take your place.  But I guess people move around a lot on Wall Street - I'm sure I'll find a good home eventually.

hey jess -- just finished up L1 yesterday and finally have a lot more free time. let me know if you want to grab dinner/coffee one of these days. btw, congrats on the move -- all factors considered, it sounded like a good choice for you and i know you'll make the most of it. we were all once "naive" but i'm happy you have the presence of mind to seize good opportunities when they present themselves (and you know i can relate with you on this!)

hey yo it may seem like the dr's fault for only see pt's for 10 minutes... it seemed that way to me when i first started, but if you hang aroudn dr's office long enough you'll realize that 10 minutes is the norm, and if you spend 10 minutes counselling a pt on diet, you're gonna have no other time to do anythign else you're supposed to do.  What patients also don't realize is the enormous amount of paperwork involved in medicine.  Besides, next time when you're in the waiting room for hours for a doctor who's running late on his schedule, you're gonna wish that he'd spend less time with his other patients anyways... so don't gimme that blame the dr crap haha.  if anything... blame... insurance companies.. yes.  they are really hindering the rpactice of medicine.
